My husband, myself and our 5yr old daughter, went to viva the holiday village, in Can picafort, in September 2010.
All the entertainment staff were brilliant, the hotel staff were brilliant, the kids clubs brilliant and the swimming team, learned my daughter to swim.
People knock the cleaners, but i couldnt fault our cleaner, she made our apartment lovely, she was very polite, we even gave her tips.
You did afto get up early to put towels on loungers, as everyone was fighting to get them, but its not all about the pool, although the pool was lovely, there were adult and kids games and entertainment every day, it was great fun to join in.
The snack bar was great and had good food, the restaurant was brilliant and always had nice food, the themed restaurant were also very nice.
Everyone were very friendly, and it made our holiday the best ever, we are planning to go back in june 2012, Holiday Village Viva , here we come ..................

Room Tip: Ask for a room with pool view, because if you get a room facing the back, overlooking the road and o...

We found this holiday on the internet but thought twice and phoned directly as it was our honey moon and we have three children whom we were taking with us. We spoke directly to First choice Watford office even to the manager which you thought you'd be safe with. We booked two rooms so we had space as Weve got a thirteen year old boy and a four year old daughter and six year old daughter on the impression the'd share and we be together as it was our honeymoon. I spoke to the manager of the Watford office three times and on the last occasion asked just to double check our rooms where conjoined as not stated or not stated on our confirmation she replied yes there next to each other and we on to ask if we wanted pool views and that shed let the Viva Village staff know as wed should get a bottle of fizz in apartments. We arrived late at night to the hotel the first choice rep stayed on the bus and we went with the other holiday makers to there destinations . W e signed in no welcome drinks nothing just keys so as very teird with children went to our apartment opened the door to two Seperate apartments the where not conjoined to our horror we went straight down to the reception no one knew it was our honey moon and resort does'nt cater for family's over 4 and has no conjoined rooms ??? so we thought lets stay in one apartment for tonight and see the first choice / Thomson staff tomorrow we did not use the room we gave the key in the next morning and clarified with first choice staff that we had not used the apartment . They contacted Watford office and to our horror they said the knew nothing of it not even spoke to us knew nothing of our honey moon or conjoined rooms which was a total lie. Ow it gets better they bring us a sofa bed to cram us all in a one bed apartment which has mouse droppings in it which we complained several times and got no where no one chased up the problem one night before we left they asked if we wanted to move as they had been changing the bed in the apartment we didn't use . We have complained been ignored they just take what the Adviser has said and wont give us the refund for the room the miss sold us and we did not use. The holiday was stress full we had a terrible time and would advise not to use first choice or Thomson as the don't care and ignore you but take your money :(

Room Tip: Don't stay if over a family of four.

Good choice for our first holiday abroad with our 2.5 yr old son. Just over 2hrs flight time from London and reasonable transfer time from airport (approx 45mins). All inclusive option we picked more for our son than ourselves, we'd never normally go for all in but seemed easiest option with toddler in tow and current state of the economy! Food was pretty ok, presentation etc was great didn't seem to matter what time of the day you decided to eat in the main restaurant it always felt like you were one of the first to arrive, never looked like you were last the buffett! Food for kids was of a good selection and pretty good quality considering. Great that they had all the plastic crokery etc so no need to bring anything like we did. Downside of eating in potentially same venue 3x's a day was that boredom set in quickly for us adults, but then I'm sure most would say that in a resort of this size. The 2x Al a Carte evenings your got were ok, the Italian was based just in a corner of the main restaurant just fenced off from everyone else, and the disappointing Tex- Mex was just the poolside bar with table linen. (food I thought was pretty ropey). Accomodation was dated but clean, we opted for pool view room and had added bonus of being ground floor so we had a garden area aswell as the patio, this proved great of an evening as I could do shuttle runs back to the bar for supplies whilst we sat out on the terrace. Room layouts were fine, this had been one of the biggest stresses for us when planning the holiday as we've never slept well together in one room and didn't want to do that for a week and so many of the places we looked at were only 1 bed and we couldn't justify cost of ajoining rooms etc so this studio layout seemed perfect. Bathroom was almost ensuite so meant that we didn't even have to go back via the living room which was doubling as our sons bedroom and disturb him & our bedroom had patio doors so we could again come & go without disturbing him. Would have been plenty of room for a second child also. Kitchen was very much a kitchenette, we didn't use at all other than the fridge, you would be limited to do a lot of self catering cooking etc there but it had the basics. The location of the hotel was fine, 10-15 min walk down to the main resort / beach, not alot going on there other than restaurants, being all inclusive we never had the need to sample them just used to wonder down there to burn of dinner / encourage our son to drop off during the day etc. Hotel was immaculate not sure how they managed to keep the place so clean, especially as it has to be said the all inclusive does seem to bring out the slobs in alot of people so at the end of the day the poolsides / gardens would be littered with rubbish where people were to bone idle to get of their butts and use one of the numerous bins. Every morning though without fail all the loungers were stacked up and the place looked immaculate again. Being a holiday village the place was totally geared for kids which was really what is was all about for us, we didn't use the kids club as for our aged little one seemed most of the activites were held indoors so seemed shame to put him in there, so he entertained himself in the fun / splash pool most days and we participated in some of the family activities that were arranged during the course of the week (storytelling / face painting / arts&crafts etc) Evening 1.5hrs entertainment for the kids was also great just shame our one was to shattered most nights to appreciate. Overall once we got over the initial shock of being abroad finally but now the 3 of us & the whole all inclusive set up we relaxed and enjoyed, would defo do another perhaps venturing a little further a field next time.

Room Tip: If you have the option go for a pool view room, alot looked to face out onto the main roads which al...

I travelled to the holiday village viva with my parents, partner and young son for a week on a very late deal. The holiday village is fantastic for children aged 3-12.

The rooms were very big and had plenty of space, its great that even though we was on an all inclusive option there was still a small kitchen area provided. The only issue we had was that there was a few ants in the kitchen area when we arrived, i called reception and they came to deal with the issue straight away.

The food was ok, i can imagine if we had come here for 14 nights it would have got very repetative. The daytime snacks were not very good. The drinks and cocktails were very nice altho they could have done with giving out bigger glasses.

The pool area was fantastic so many games and activities going on and not crowded in the pools. Plenty of different areas for all age types and yes as people have probably mentioned you do need to be up fairly early to reserve a bed if you would like one under shade or with a parasol as i expect most do travelling with children. The indoor pool and jacuzzi was usually deserted so this was a nice place to get away for a little while altho the indoor pool was freezing and i wouldnt have let my son go into it.

The entertainment was ok. The reps did most of the entertaining while we was there and i am sorry to say most of them couldnt sing!! Sorry!! I actually filmed the abba tribute to show the girls back home for a laugh!! I was disappointed given how much money it costs to travel to the holiday village that First Choice hadnt paid the money to have top acts on. The bingo was fun and the kids disco and entertainment was really good.

We used bought 2 creche sessions for our 16 month old. The girls in there were fantastic and they had some lovely toys and activities. It was a ver secure system and we was very happy with the service.

All in all i would say this is for children under 12, not to expect too much from the complex and if i had paid full price for this holiday i would have rated it 3*. But we got a bargain and got what we paid for!!

We stayed for one week at the Holiday Village Viva as a family of 4. This is our third visit to the hotel. Our boys aged 7yrs and 6yrs had an amazing week and did some great activities. The hotel is beautiful and very clean. Hotel staff are friendly and very helpful. The reps were great and made the week amazing. Food is very good, plenty of choice. You also get 2 reservations per week, 1 to use at the restaurant and 1 at the Italian restaurant.

We stayed here mid September for 1 week, with my perents and our 1 year old, we were slightly worried about weather and slightly worried about opting for all inslusive option as only ever done all inclusive i'n 5* carrabien and to be honest wasn't expecting to much... We had nothing to worry about! Weather was amazing! Infact perfect for traveling with a 1 year old and the all Inc option was great! Lots of choice! Hot! And restaurants well catered for children, plastic cups, plates and cutlery already there very helpful saves carrying it all around! highchairs already at the tables wich i's a huge help, dragging around or looking for highchairs carrying a baby i's a pain, so all these little things help!!!
Plenty of healthy options for children, not just chips ect!
Warm milk and cold milk available great for babies, I filled my bottles and popped them i'n our fridge, microwaves i'n restaurant too if u want to heat your baby jars up i'n there!
Italian restaurant was lovely, was apprehensive as just i'n a cordend off section of main restaurant but food was really lovely, better than most Italians iv been too! Well worth a visit, if we had Been here longer than a week I'd of def gone back and paid!! Great value!
Mexican was ok, not amazing but staff were lovely! As all staff seemed to be everywhere!!!
Rooms were clean and spacious nice large balconies, tried desperately to upgrade to garden room before we went and couldn't but was fine with room we had!
Pool area was hectic but my 1 year old loved it, plenty of grassy areas if u want to get away from it a bit!
Pool snack bar was nice touch! Fresh fruit available i'n pots to take away, were ideal for little ones! Help yourself to ice creams and ice pops, perfect!
Entertainment was great for little ones, not our usual kind of evening adult entertainment but good all the same, we'd have a walk out about 9ish but from what we saw of it we were pleasantly suprised!
A bit of a walk from beach but a nice walk all the same! We found a nice little road parallel to one we'd been walking down to beach but it was livelier at night with more of the holiday feel!!!
Would def go back! Nice little resort, perfect family hotel! Great value! Ideal for people traveling alone with children too!
Looking forward to trying more holiday villages..., was not by any means a sunny butlins as I had feared!! My only downside i's we didn't book 2 weeks!!! X

We booked a week at the 4 star Holiday Village Viva in C'an Picafort Sept 19th 2011 with First Choice (Now my last choice).
On arrival the first night everything looked OK, Nice pool areas, well kept gardens.
In the morning it was totally different,Our apartment kitchen was not suitable for self catering as there was no cupboard space for any shopping so we had make daily trips to the supermarket
The cleaner did not clean the whole apartment so the floors were always rotten dirty.
Towards the end of the holiday we found lots of broken glass in our bedroom where the cleaner had broken something & not bothered to clear all the glass.
It was pure chance that nobody got hurt especially as we had a 5 year old running around with bare feet.
The hotel restaurants were pretty poor & served the same old food,
we did try the Mexican one night but it was no more Mexican than we were.
I have been to Mexico & the food was nothing like what was served in the Viva complex it was very poor & a total waste of money.
The area surrounding the hotel was very dirty with residents letting thier dogs foul the pavements.
At the beach area you had the usual africans pestering you to buy fake watches etc & they even came in the restaurants while you were eating with little done to discourage them.
We spent most of the time getting the bus down to Playa De Muro which is a nicer cleaner resort & only went back to our hotel to sleep.
The hotel was full of kids which is fine but it was so packed that you couldn't get a bed by any of the pools unless you got up very early to put your towel out as many people did.
The hotel entertainment was all child based with nothing for adults at all unless you count bingo,
People left dirty nappies on the floor around the pools & anything else they couldn't be bothered to put into bins.
On our last day I went to pay the bill for the meal we had in the Mexican & one of the staff had tried to forge my partners signature so the reception tried to charge me another £46.
I refused outright & was shown a signature that looked nothing like my partners,
they went away to discuss the matter & came back with a bad attitude but I still would not pay & we left for the airport.
On arrival at Gatwick I found my suitcase had not even left Majorca & the lady at the First Choice desk didn't give a damm.
My partner had left the house keys locked in the case for safe keeping as we had a 12 hour wait from the tiime we checked out of the hotel to our flight time so I had to get a locksmith out to gain entry to my house at a cost of £70.
My suitcase turned up 2 days later
I put in a claim to First Choice 5 weeks ago but have only got an automated reply saying it was being looked into & nothing since.
We have been to Majorca 3 times & loved it but only booked this hotel as a last minute deal thinking it would be nice as it was 4 star.
In fact it was only worthy of 2 stars and that is being generous.

Room Tip: Don't go all inclusive unless you are easily pleased
