“brilliant holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 November 2013

I have just returned from the Viva Can Picafort Majorca, i went with my 15 year old daughter and had a wonderful week at this hotel, The apartment was clean and spacious on the ground floor, Extremely quiet at night after the entertainment had finished at 10pm, The all inclusive was brilliant, my daughter thought the ice creams and non alcoholic cocktails were brilliant and could have pretty much what she wanted, The food was good and there was a lot of choice as there were different themed nights each night. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and couldnt do enough for you, i would definately recommend this to any age group as we had a wonderful time and would try and book another week in October next year,

After reading very good reviews about this hotel, we decided to book it, for family of five 2 adults 2 kids and infant, I feel we got a very good deal with thomson booked by first choice even flying from our hometown southend which made it all the more convient for us, how ever one downfall would the transfer time which was approx hour and half from the airport, first impressions on arriving, the resort seemed to be on its own, in a quiet secluded area, we was greeted by receptionist who was very helpful and gave us a map of the resort and explained where our apartment was etc and where we could get food as we had arrived around 4pm, resort was quite large, situated in gardens that was maintained to high standard, two large lagoon pools plenty of sun beds, apartments was very spacious complete with kitchenette which came in very handy with the little one, my only downfall about the apartment I would have to agree the beds was the worse beds I had ever slept on but this wasn't too much of a problem, big bathroom with bath and shower and we had a flatscreen tv which was a nice touch, our apartment looked out over the road at the back but tbh we didn't really mind as we hadn't come on holiday to spend lots of time in the apartment, for food you had the main restaurant and had the pool bar where you could eat lunch also we were a lover of the burgers and chips during the day they were gorgeous, drinks were good must warn you the pina colada cocktails were very strong and I found myself feeling extremely drunk after 4 of them lol, my partner and I are quite fussy when it comes to food in hotels and we can both honestly say there was so much choice and variety we always found something, the meats was delicious so tender and cooked to perfection, I have to agree with other people the cake theme night is a must they're is a huge selection of cakes two chocolate fountains strawberries to which the children throughly enjoyed :) hotel grounds are clean staff always happy to greet you with a smile, entertainment we found was better then most holidays we had been on especially the magic night was excellent, we was lucky with the weather on out holiday on two days it reached its 30s to which we was very happy about apparently it was rare for late October, I couldn't really fault this hotel but if I had to say a negative it would be that the hotel is quite far from the shops and beach it takes about 20 mins to walk and outside the resort it is quite rundown and needs to be maintained, once at the beach it is a beautiful beach and they're are lots of bars and restaurants and quite a few shops, overall we had an excellent time it is well worth the money a good family value hotel

This is the 4th First Choice Holiday Village we have visited. The standard of food, room cleanliness & service is first class.

The food is not repetitive what so ever.

The all inclusive range of soft and alcoholic drinks is really good.

The activities for children really are great, the whole team there really look after the children, and appear to really enjoy what there doing.

We have just returned form a 7 night break in october half term. We had an amazing time, travelling with a 6 year old and a 1 year old. The kids pool is great (but cold) and the food is just lovely! Its a good job we only stayed a week or i would be like a hippo!! The variety was fab and i loved the themed table they would vary each night. Dessert, cheese, Spanish tapas, mexican etc. All branded drinks are included aswell which was a surprise to us as we have spent alot more in other hotels that dont include premium drinks.

Kids entertainers work super hard with the kids and the hotel grounds are beautiful. We hired a car as its nice to get out and about as the surrounding area is slightly limited but it does have a beautiful beach and a small strip of shops and bars. The evening entertainment is ok, lets just say it holds your attention, but some of the acts may get a buzz on britains got talent. ;-)

The only reason i havent given this 5 stars is the rooms are dated and not really 4* (but functional) and the sunloungers could do with replacing as they are very uncomfortable. Our room was also in block 2 facing the road and it didnt get any sun at all, making it dark and a nightmare trying to dry stuff on the varander. Apart from them things its amazing.

We would definately return if only the summer prices were not so high!

Room Tip: Request a room that gets sun during the day to dry your towels, costumes etc.

Only booked 4 days before travel as a last minute break, bargain price of £790 for us both. Early morning flight from Gatwick meant we were there in time for lunch. Room wasn't ready but we were asked to return after half an hour which we did and given keys to top floor apartment in block 2. Apartment was spacious, nothing amazing, a little tired, but did the job. One drawback was that we were roadside which wasn't ideal! The other drawback was the beds which were hideous! Have seen mixed reviews on here so am guessing some must be ok - ours weren't! Had to pay 16.50 euro to hire the safe for the week. Room was cleaned 5 days out of 7. Good powerful shower, separate to the bath. Wouldn't have liked to have been sleeping in the lounge area as the fridge kept churning away which was noisy.

We were impressed with the food and drink throughout the week, a couple of the themed restaurant evenings were 'different' - cake night and cheese night. Cocktails were very good, think many came from mixes as my mohito was always exactly the same, but very nice. Seemed to be branded spirits used most of the time. Staff were all very helpful whether it was in the reception, the bar or the restaurant. Ice cream sundaes were very nice.

The grounds were spacious and well kept and the hotel a short, pleasant walk from the beach. Local transport services were good and on one day we got the bus to Alcudia (3.50 euro) for both of us and walked back, 7 miles along the beach which was lovely. We were exceptionally lucky with the weather, 30 degrees and sunny most days, one day a cloudy 25 degrees!

The entertainment was a big let down with the exception of a magic show which was pretty impressive. The two entertainers on the stage most nights were dire! There was a gym but the equipment was poor and not well maintained. The First Choice rep was round about the hotel at regular intervals but did appear to promise to get back to people, not always delivering on that promise.

To sum up, this was a great last minute holiday at a bargain price. Would definitely not be saying the same had we paid the £1100 per person advertised price for a week in the muddle of summer!

Room Tip: Request a room away from the road. Garden rooms looked nice if you have young children!

I have never been one to review holidays, as life is to short to spend time on such things, however this place deserves a review.

I wish I could tell you something negative, but the Viva Can Picafort is exceptional in a very good way.

The hotel has a fantastic relaxed atmosphere, the rooms, restraint, bars and open spaces are very clean. The facilities for a family hotel are superb.

My two boys (10 and 7) loved this hotel, they spent so much time in the pools, cinema and kids club it allowed my wife and I to actually relax.

The staff are very friendly and efficient and the place is very well maintained, we witnessed a wall tile get broken on the indoor swimming pool, within 15 minutes maintenance had removed the tile then cleaning removed any small debris and by the time we went to the pool the next morning all was back to normal.

The bar is very well stocked and my 10 year old really enjoyed the children's cocktails. The food served was varied and of a good quality.

The rooms are very spacious with a separate bedroom so you can be away from the kids. Each of the 5 accommodation blocks are set around the central pool area which was really nice.

As I say I wish I could say something negative but we enjoyed it so much we are already thinking about going back, something I have never done before in many years.

My last bit of advice is........ Go There!

Room Tip: Garden rooms are nice if you get one but can be noisier from rooms above.

We have just got back from a great weeks hol at this hotel. The staff were so friendly and great with the kids. The hotel grounds and pools were lovely. The food was nice and plenty of variety. The entertainment was a let down on two of the days but that never bothered us. The beach took around 20 mins to walk to ( we had 2 kids so took a little longer). Plenty of bars and coffee shops on the beach front, with lovely views. All in all. GREAT.
