on arrival to this complex, the first meal we ate was dinner. The food was cold and I inevitably got food poisoning and spent the next three days ill in bed. The room was cold because the heating system was still on summer settings. I requested extra blanket but still had to sleep in bed with two of my jacket fleeces on as well.
I complained to the reception and the Thomson rep. Nothing was done to improve anything. The food remained cold all the week. I used a dessert plate and heated food in the microwave which was there for mothers to warm babies bottles. Dinner plate did not fit in it. five babies got ill because rooms were so cold.
Dog poo and chewing gum everywhere outside complex. A truly disgusting experience.

Just returned from a week at the village viva and it was excellent.

The rooms were lovely and clean and spacious, ive seen alot of comments about the rooms being dated, but i had no problems with them at all, they were clean and tidy and really nice for a 4 star hotel.
The pools were lovely, could possibly do with an imbetween pool,as the larger pools are at least a metre deep in the shallowest parts and the childs splash pool is too shallow for a child to swim in,both my children were ok but this may cause an issue for others.
The food is great, always varied to a degree bearing in mind that its all inclusive,so there is always going to be some foods repeated throughout the week. there was always different meats available every night so if you didnt like one there would be an alternative.
Now for the best bit........the entertainment! my children were never bored at all, theres always something going on for the children and adults aswell, with announcements all day long by the pool telling you what is coming up.
The entertainment on a night is cheesy but thats what the holiday villages are all about, the children love the dances and the reps and theres always something more serious after 10:00pm for the adults, the entertainment team are very talented and hard working.
Theres a game of bingo every night which is worth doing, and the poolside daily quiz is good for a laugh.
This is an all round great family complex which i would highly recommend to families, but not to couples or young groups as its all aimed at children, thats why there isnt any adult only areas or bars,if you choose to stay at a first choice holiday village then you must be prepared for complete madness and fun as its what they are all about.

Just returned from a week's All Inclusive at the Holiday Village Viva and overall we thought it was good value for money. Yes, the rooms are a little bit dated, but they were clean, and who goes on holiday to sit in their room and worry how old the curtains are, I know I don't!! Our room was very quiet apart from the child next door who decided to wake up and run around on the tiled floor at 5am every morning, unabaited by it's parents, but thats not the faul of the hotel.

The food here was fantastic, there was something for everyone, there was plenty of variation and we didn't eat out once, which is saying something as my other half is particularly fussy with his food. As part of the All Inclusive you also get a visit to the Italian and carribean resaurants, which were also good. If you're not happy with whats on offer here to eat, you're not going to be happy anywhere. The waiters and bar staff were great and always had a smile.

I can't say I rated the entertainment that much, it was completely child orientated and went on to midnight, when one would have thought it appropriate for the little ones to have been in bed, there wasn't really anything put on which was geared a bit more towards adults.

C'an Picafort is very quiet and there really isn't a great deal to do there, but it's pleasant enough.

Overall we were pleased with the holiday, I think if you're a couple like us then it maybe isn't the place for you, but if you're a family, especially with little ones then you wouldn't go far wrong with Holiday Village Viva.

Returned from 1 week all inclusive break on 21/10 in a prestige pool view room in block 2 (room 2017). Bit of war and peace follows but worth reading if you're really thinking about going here.

Resort and room were clean although the room had very tired looking decor & furnishings and had a very damp smell. Don't be fooled by brochure photo of sofa beds in the living area - we thought this was a fold down bed, not so ; it's two single sofa's which double up as single beds although ours were permanently made up as beds by the maid. Found these very uncomfortable.

Food wasn't the best. After a couple of days, you've seen it all. Note previous reviews mention chicken nuggets were on the kids menu to often, which the management have made efforts to mend. Trouble was it always seemed to be fish nuggets and/or pasta every night and our kids like neither - give them chicken nuggets and they're happy campers. Consequence was they hardly ate for the week and were grumpy.

Our room was the room nearest the entrance to block 2, which meant every family who entered the property went past our room and very few showed any regard for others who may be sleeping. Every night we were kept awake until 1am at the earliest with young kids shouting on their way back to their rooms with parents, which was repeated from about 4am with families on their way out with suitcases to catch the bus to the airport. This was then followed by the maids and cleaning staff having shouting matches outside our window from about 7am.

I've been on some lads holidays in the past - San Antonio, Magaluf and the like which were pretty noisey affairs. Trust me when I say this is the most noise I've encountered.

Why didn't we get moved - because there were no spare prestige rooms available and we didn't fancy moving to a room on the upper levels when we had paid extra for this grade of room.

Co-incidentally, my cousin and one of our mutual friends with both their families all turned up within a couple of days of each other. Friend had a room higher up (block 4), which they thought was superb and quiet. Cousin had a prestige pool view room at the end of block 5 next to the splash pool - their's was equally as tired looking as ours and also smelled of damp. Not only that but the air conditioning unit for the whole block backed onto their room and made a hell of a racket and caused the room to vibrate - you literally couldn't hear the TV.

Bar staff don't like you ordering large rounds in the main bar. One of the guys was a really stroppy bugger. The rest were really good though.

Other point on the room worth mentioning was that there were 2 dogs roaming the grounds, wandering in and out of the private gardens of the prestige rooms. Even though they were small, our eldest child is petrified of dogs so wouldn't venture outside if they were within eye-shot.

Really positive point on all the block 2 prestige pool rooms is that they open onto a large grassy area which we thought was great for young kids as they're some way back from the pool. The kids had a ball running about in this area (when the dogs weren't around).

Entertainment was great for kids - ours were glued to the stage area every night, even for "i's down" (bingo to you and me).

Kids also loved the kids clubs and ours are normally never willing to go to these, so that speaks volumes for how good they were.

Couple of other notes of caution : 1) the cinema packed in when we were there with no real effort made to fix it when it first happened and 2) the sports bar tends to only show tennis and rugby - the barman even told us they didn't have sky sports channels so we couldn't watch the champions leagues games, which we found not to be true when we were allowed to fiddle with the equipment to try and get the X factor (for the ladies)...what came up? You guessed it - sky sports. We were then told football was only put on at the managers discretion. Not really a sports bar then!

Having said all that, if you have young kids, get a good room, are prepared to eat out and go in peak season when the pools are warmer then you'll love it. Just doesn't merit 4 star rating for me though.

You will have to go to a supermarket to get some decent nibbles for your room. If you do, we found a very large one which was significantly cheaper than any others we found. Turn right out of the hotel doors, walk down past the public play park and turn right at the main road. It's then about 100 yards along on the right hand side.

Last point - be careful where you exchange currency. We exchanged with Thomson's and although they market that they don't charge commission, they mark down the rate by 25% when exchanging back from euro's to sterling. The missus did this without really knowing what the exchange rate was, which cost us about £50 - nice. A walk of about 20 feet to Thomas Cook, who don't offer the best exchange rate either, would have saved us £30. Not a lot of money when it costs £2K for the holiday but still felt ripped off.

just back after a week at tis First choice hotel and its certainly a great place . Clean and tidy with lots going on and a great entertainment team . The only downside was the quality of the food and especially the drinks , everyone was a cheap alternative even the coffee was watered down
Being all inclusive they should really look at the point above but apart from that it really is a great spot and a real clean and nice place

We had high expectations from the Holiday Village Viva and on the whole they were met. The rooms are clean but ours was starting to slightly fray round the edges, broken draws in the bedroom and chips to the furniture but once our stuff was unpacked we didnt notice. The hotel grounds are lovely and so well kept. The nicest thing about the holiday village is all the staff. No one is grumpy!! The bar and waiting staff are lovely, so patient with the children, helping them to speak a little spanish. The entertainment and kids club staff work so hard. First Choice definately have the best kids clubs. We used Wavelength, my daughter loved it especially the parties in the evenings. We used the local transport to get out and about on the island. First Choice trips are so expensive. It really isnt hard to do these trips yourself, The bus to Palma picks up from the road right outside the hotel. From this we went on the Soller Mountain Railway, Palma Cathedral and Palma Aquariunm for a fraction of the cost. Dont be afraid to give it a try.
