Just returned from a week at this hotel. The service provided by it's staff can only be described as EXCELLENT particular praise to Rafael, Xavier and Jose at the pool bar, the evening staff were very good as well. We stayed in room 257 which over looked the childrens play area and a petanque court, not the best but we did request a quiet room and that is what we got, the only thing with the room was it's location to the stairs, during non-restraunt times it is a long walk through the corridors to the main stair well and lifts, perhaps the hotel could look at allowing the use of the stairs that lead to the restraunts during non meal times. The room was kept clean by Patricia who was also very friendly and cheerfull always singing and greeting you in the mornings whilst passing in the corridor, the walk in shower is very good and gives plenty of room to move. The staff are bi-lingual speaking both English and German to a very high standard.

Food
The food whilst providing a limited choice to the english pallet was of a high quality with Pork, chicken and fish being the meat dishes, the vegetables were pretty repetative. The sweets were to die for with an extensive choice of cakes and blancmange type things. All in all the food was biased towards the mainly German cliental. The manager Manolo is hovering around ensuring that all staff are attentive and efficient

Entertainment
Good some nights not so good on others, but where do you get any good acts in hotels abroad? The animacion team work hard during the day.

The roof top bar
WOW you must go up to this and watch the sunset with a drink.

Pool Area.
The pools were very clean and good, however a little chilly. The pool directly adjacent to the building was the only flat non-grassed area with limited sun beds, the remainder of the pool area was grassed with enough sun beds for everyone no matter what time of day you wished to go to the pool, Again perhaps providing a larger flatter non-grassed area would help the physicallly limited and the older generation.

Location.
Excellent for the shops and busses, although on Alcudia market day don't bother with the bus it's packed and takes about 45mins. A taxi with tip is 20 euros each way and alot more comfortable. On Can Picafort market day get a taxi from the hotel to the market as it is cheaper than the land train if there are two or more of you.
All in all we would definately go back and would recommend this to our families and friends without hesitation.
Well done to all the staff.

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at this splendid hotel. Efficient friendly staff instantly made us feel at home and allowed us to relax and enjoy all the hotel had to offer. The food served was beautifully presented and selected to suit a wide variety of tastes. Nothing bland about this fair.We were never bored with the choices offered nor were we tempted to eat elsewhere. The grounds are extensive, lush and shady surrounding the sculptured pool area. Early reservation of sun beds is frowned apon and we had no problem in securing sun beds in our prefered area of the gardens around 10am each morning. We also used the well appointed gym and the relaxing spa pool which is included in the price of the holiday. The bedrooms are adequate and as with the rest of the hotel scrupulously clean. The walk in power shower was a plus. Evening entertainment on most nights was OK and roof top bar was excellent. for a night cap. If you have an adversion to sharing your holiday with other europeans particualry those from Germany this is not the hotel for you. The childrens clubs have a strong German theme but all languages inclusing english are spoken by all entertainment staff.

Room Tip: Rooms at front and rear of hotel are cooler in the hight of summer than those surrounding the pool a...

Just returned from a week at the Gran Vista. Stayed in 428, overlooking the car park - which was wonderfully quiet - having a poolside room is not the most important thing on a holiday! We had a great time and it is clear that management are in charge of a well run hotel. Staff were helpful at all times, rooms were always cleaned to a high standard and the choice of food was excellent - I defy anyone to fail to find something they like at mealtime.
The Spa and Gym, available at no extra cost (apart from some beauty treatments) was an excellent addition to the package.
What made it "excellent" for us was the little extras such as the cocktail meeting with senior management who spoke to everyone present to get feedback on their holiday experience. In addition, the availability of some breakfast items for people with an early flight and the offer of a room for those with late flights. These are all small things, but too often hotels use them as an excuse to wring more money from the holiday-maker.
If the Gran Vista is typical of the standard offered by Grupotel, then we will look to book with them in the future if they have a presence in the resort we are looking at.

ARRIVAL
Transfer from Palma Airport to Hotel approx. 1 hour, which was not a problem as it was a good way to see a lot of the island. Rooms were ready on arrival around noon.

ROOMS
We had sent an email to the hotel requesting 2 adjacent rooms overlooking the pool/sea and this is exactly what we got. Rooms very clean and look as though they have been renovated in the last few years. Bathroom is floor to ceiling tiled, with plenty of space for toiletries etc. Note no bath only a shower (with 1 fixed head and 1 hand held head). Yes the bathroom door is frosted glass, not sure how this is a problem as you can’t see through it. Plenty of wardrobe space, with full length mirrors. Fridge is empty for you to put in your own goods, there is an order form for minibar items if needed. TV has BBC1/BBC2/ITV1 english channels. Rooms were cleaned every day, including towel changes. Balconies are of adequate size and have 2 chairs and table. Wifi is also available in the rooms and around the hotel at a charge of 15euro for a week.

SERVICE
Everyone was exceptionally helpful and friendly, nothing was ever too much trouble. All staff speak German, Spanish and English. We did not encounter any problems with this being a so called “German Hotel” as mentioned in previous reviews. We met just as many British as German guests, and did not feel like we were being excluded due to being British. Management are visible around the hotel. British guests are invited to meet the management at a cocktail evening one night a week, which was a nice touch. Also, every Tuesday is meet the Gran Vista team, where the outdoor café is turned into a presentation area where the manager of each team (cleaning, bar, restaurant, reception, spa, animacion etc) sets up a little table and is available to chat to to find out more about the services they offer.

POOLS AND SURROUND
Pools here are great, four in total. One lagoon pool over two levels with waterfalls and whirlpool jets, one small splash pool for children with slides and fountains, one rectangular pool for lap swimming and one indoor pool. Plenty of sunbeds to go round, just remove from the stacks and place where you would like on the grass. Umbrellas are only around the rectangular pool on the concrete, however there are multiple trees providing shade on the grassy areas. There is also a childrens playground, beach volleyball pitch, 2 tennis courts and mini golf. The hotel is also popular for cycling holidays, and as such there is a well equipped cycle shop on site where bikes can be hired for approx £10 a day.

ENTERTAINMENT
Evening entertainment is varied, some nights being better than others. Acts ranged from tribute (The Beatles) to jazz, flamenco, etc in the main bar. One night there was a “pool party” where the entertainment took place on the pool terrace and cocktails were made and served outside and prizes could be won. The rooftop bar also had live music some nights. The animacion team work 6 days a week, and are around from 10am to 11pm, organising activities and the kids clubs in the day to compering the evening entertainment. Again, the animacion team speak Spanish, german and English, so language didn’t appear to be a problem.

LOCATION
The hotel is separated from the shops and bars of C’an Picafort by a main road, which was not a problem to cross as it is all zebra crossings. C’an Picafort is a nice place to stroll along in the evenings, and is typical of a Spanish resort with its variety of bars, restaurants and shops. We did not go to the beach in the day, however you do have to pay to use the umbrellas and sunbeds on the beach. There are 2 big supermarkets along the main road, 10 mins walk in opposite directions from the hotel entrance – Eroski (left), and Mercadona (right) which is more of a Lidl/Aldi.

FOOD AND BARS
We found the food to be fantastic, with a wide range of options and varied every night. Each dinner had a theme – Mediterranean, Mallorcan, Around the World etc. however there was always pasta, chips, rice, veg available with the meat options varying every night. Desserts included ice cream, profiteroles, cake, mousse and other chilled desserts, fruit, and one night there was a chocolate fountain. I believe dinner themes are on a 7 day rotation so I guess this could get repetitive if staying for longer than a week. Breakfast was typical affair of fry up / pastries / breads / fruit / churros / crepes. Sunday mornings included champagne and smoked salmon. Smoothies and juice also available, with coffee delivered to your table. The dining room is open for a limited breakfast buffet from 3am – 7am for those who have early morning flights to catch which we thought was great and hadn't experienced with other hotels before. Drinks were expensive in the restaurant, 200ml coke 2euros, 500ml water 2.2euros. The hotel has 2 bars, the main bar and the panoramic rooftop bar where the views of the island and sea are amazing. Cocktails are around 5euros. There is also an outdoor café near the pool open from 10-5 for lunch. Meals were around 5-10euros, the portions were big so good value for money.

SPA
We really enjoyed the spa, was never busy when we went. It is free and consisted of indoor pool, aromatherapy showers, sauna, steam rooms, ice cave, Jacuzzi and plunge pool. There was also a gym with many machines. Treatments such as massages and facials are available at a price (30 mins ~ 30euros), they also run activities such as Pilates and Yoga for free.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay here and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone and will definitely return!

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor with sea / pool view

On arrival at Grupotel Gran Vista the reception area is very nice and the staff are very helpful. We stayed in an apartment which was very clean with nice decor. The balcony was big with table and chairs. We were B & B. There was plenty of choice at breakfast. Supermarket near by where we bought things for lunch. The gardens and swimming pools are very impresive with plenty of sun loungers and space to either sit in sun or shade. Shops, bars and restaurants just over main road with a beach at the end, the hotel is perfect position for everything you need. I would defo give this hotel 4 stars! We had a lovely time and can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Would have apartment instead of room.

My wife and I had a great week at the Gran Vista. All the staff we met where very friendly, from the check in team, bar staff and the cheery cleaners. We received excellent service from the waiters and waitressess who work extremely hard. Our room was on the second floor and was facing the car park. I would ask for a pool facing room as the views are great. The fridge in the room is small but keeps water and juice nice and cool. The hotel location is great, set away from the shops, cafe's bars etc, but within easy walking distance. The beach is also only 10 mins walk. There is a supermarket at the bottom of the hill but the choice is rather limited. If you cross over the road and go down towards the beach (left hand side) there is a much bigger supermarket, with a better choice. There are two main plus points for this hotel, (1) The swimming pools are fab. (2) The rooftop bar (on the 6th floor) has some amazing views. There are a couple of minor points (1) The evening entertainment was a big let down. I witnessed a lot of guests leaving after 10 mins. Better acts / DJ is required to keep guests at the hotel. (2) As a large proportion of the guests (90%)are German a lot of the daily and night entertainment is geared towards them. You did feel a bit left out at times.

Room Tip: Rooms with a pool view are the best

Just returned from Gran Vista this is not a 4 Star standard hotel, the first impression is of a rather tired hotel in need of some TLC. The rooms although basic are kept immaculately clean they are, however, requiring refurbished and who thought up the idea of a glass bathroom door. The air con worked but was not cool enough even on full which made for uncomfortable nights.
Breakfast was plentiful and varied and something for everyone, notices asked that no food be taken from the dining areas, needless to say some people couldn't help themselves they blatantly walked out with hands full of fruit, how greedy!!
The food at the evening buffet was not 4 star standard very boring and bland, previous reviews stated how good the food was well we are all different and have very different tastes and expectations.
The hotel is excellant for families with very good facilities for children the pools are immense. Towels were hung over balconies to dry and sun beds reserved early in the morning even though management requested that neither should occur, obviously no-one was bothered enough to check these rules were not broken.
