A great hotel with brilliant food and excellent service. 99% of the guests at the hotel are German, although we did not find this a problem. The only time it effected us was when the reps were arranging games etc and they only spoke in German!

The rooftop bar is absolutely brilliant and relaxing. Its called the Panaramic bar as you can see a 360 view of the surrounding area.

The room was clean and nicely decorated with air con. A big flat screen TV with lots of channels inc about 10 English channels.

I used the gym everyday which was fairly basic but adequate before moving onto the spa. Straight into the ice bath after a workout was great! Best spa I have ever been to, lots of facilities including turkish bath, ice bath, jacuzzi, etc

C'an Picafort is similar as most of the bars are geared towards Germans and sell delicious German beers like Erdinger and Paulaner!

The beach was beautiful, the whitest sands and bluest sea i have ever seen outside of the Carribean !

Alot of the bars are themed which put us off when we first arrived however they are all clean decent bars! The atmosphere is lively yet there are no groups of drunk teenagers! all young couples and familys.

Barracuda bar is worth checking out, beach bar style with good music!

All in all a great holiday! can recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Our room (147) on the first floor had a terrible view..all we could see was the air conditioning..

My husband, daughter and I have just arrived back from a week in Can Picafort and really enjoyed our stay at the Gran Vista. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the bathroom had a really spacious shower. The air conditioning was fine as long as the patio door remained closed. Beds could do with upgrading though and this was the only downside, not enough to put me off going again though. The great thing about this hotel was the food. Both the buffet and breakfast was excellent, varied and plentiful. The snackbar was good value for money and a good quality for a light afternoon snack. The best thing about the hotel was the free spa and the beautiful relaxing panoramic rooftop bar. The sangria was about 9 euro for a litre and was the best way to top off a day in the sunshine. Close to the beach, free towels for around the poolside, lots of sunbeds and excellent, friendly staff. What more could you want??

This hotel is a very large complex, the majority of which is maintained to a really good standard. There are 2 indoor pools, and 3 outdoor pools, many games facilities and plentiful sunbeds.
All the staff were exceptionally friendly especially the room maids and dining room staff - nothing was too much trouble. We thought the food was very good, always hot, lots of choice and well presented, and although most meal times during our stay in August was a bit of a scrum, you could still get what you wanted and return to your table without too much drama. The Spa & gym is a great bonus - all free except treatments of course, with fresh towels provided and clean changing/shower facilities.
The hotel provides free pool towels which are also changeable 3 times a week - a nice touch.
Some people have complained of small room sizes and poor air conditioning. We found ours really good, decent size for a couple, very nicely tiled bathroom, and if you leave one of your room cards in the room connector, you can leave the air con on all day - the maids don't remove it like some hotels to save money. It also had a good quality flat screen TV with some decent English channels and good picture quality - quite unusual in Spanish holiday hotels, so we could keep up with the Olympics! Overall we would say our room was a good 3 to 4 star standard.

Now to our gripes - Thomson market this a Platinum hotel and say they don't accept bookings for children under 16. If this leads you to think there won't be many children thats wrong. It was approx 80% full of German families with young children. Although we enjoy seeing children in the hotel having a good time, many mature couples of our age don't and even we thought the number of babies and toddlers was quite high. I think Thomson should make it clear in the hotel details, that its very geared for German familes - that way you can choose somewhere different if its not your choice. Also the childrens entertainers all appeared to be German, and very few English children (if any) took part. There was too much emphasis on providing childrens activities which overall were actually used by a tiny number of children in the hotel - without some of these it could have been much quieter, as the entertainers made more noise than the children !!

Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Gran Vista, and if they could somehow make the meal times slightly less frenetic, and cut back on the noisy childrens entertainers, it would be somewhere we would go again.

Myself, husband and 13 year old son travelled to Gran Vista on 21st July for 2 weeks. We received a very warm welocme even though it was 2am! The hotel rooms were very small for 3 of us and even thought the bathroom was good I felt the hotel is in need of a refit. The room was a double room and all they had done was add a pop up bed. I was disappointed that we were charged an adult price for our 13 year ols son but treated him like a child. The air condition was extremly poor and we all had many nights broken sleep because of this. We did complain about this to reception and they said it was working fine. I beleive this was because it was old and needed to be replaced. The TV in the bedroom had really great channel choice and we had taken aexternal hard drive with films on which plugged straight into the TV. The food was good for a buffet but I was getting fed up of pork by the end of 2 weeks. My husband was hassled by the resturant manager to wear full length trousers to dinner, but this was the first we knew of this. This should of been mentioned when we booked the holiday. This made me feel uncomfortable at dinner time. Sun loungers were never a problem, you needed to arrive earlier for adjustable loungers not fixed but there is not a bad spot around the pool. The bar staff were all lovely and very hard working. The drink prices were good. We dont normally stay at a hotel for entertainment but I would reccommend Elvis night very funny! I did have a pedicure at the spa and the lady was very rough with me and I still have scabs on my toes around the cuticle. I also thought it was very expensive. I went spinning a few times in the gym and it was ok. I did feel that there was a German divide all the kids clubs were in German and evryone presumed you were German. As we were leaving I noticed other English speaking guests.

Stayed at this hotel for a week with 2 teenagers and the first bonus was that our 2 separate hotel rooms were next door to each other but with an interconnecting door . In the evenings the children could escape to their own room and watch the very comprenensive TV selection.
The hotel does have many German guests but that can be a positive as it was very well organised and such high standards are set.The food was plentiful and as the hotel caters for so many, we were delighted that there were different dining areas to chose from. We chose to eat at a section behind the dining room , which was like a large conservatory .It was quieter and by far a better dining experience. The food was always hot and enough for all tastes.
The pool areas were spotless and considering it is mainly a German crowd there were strict rules regarding allocation of sunbeds , so that whatever time you reached the pool area, there was always a good choice and not all had been taken.
Table tennis and golf were free,a good touch and my only concern would be that as there were mainly German children taking part in the activities, the animation team rarley spoke English to the minority. A shame , as my son loves to participate in the sports but felt a little intimidated.
Outside the hotel, it was a stroll to the local shops and eateries, which was so convenient and the beach was close and clean.
We took the local bus opposite the hotel to Peurto Pollensa (2.5 euros single ticket) and that took about 50minutes ,but well worth it as it is such a nice part of the island. You could jump off the bus about half way and that would leave you in Alcudia.
Market day in C'an Picafort is Friday and we took a taxi from the hotel 6 euros. Large market area, plenty of stalls and flagged a taxi home with ease.
Overall a very relaxing week and would be happy to return to this hotel

Room Tip: We did not have a room overlooking the pool but this was an advantage we felt as it was peaceful and...

Arrived on 21st july , went straight to the outside bistro for a cola after a long journey was greeted by Szolts a waiter from Buda Pest who made us feel very welcome and relaxed immediately, his standard of service was excellent throughout our whole holidays.Brilliant hotel, great choice of pools. Food excellent one of my sons a very picky eater but enjoyed all the food especially the strawberry kebabs and chocolate fountain. The drinks at the hotel were cheaper than in the local bars and the roof top bar offered amazing views of the whole bay, it was a lovely place to end the night. This has been one of the best hotels we have stayed in probably the best in mallorca, non of that fighting over sun bed mentality. Can<t wait for next year.

Got back today and I wanted to make sure I put a review up while it was all still fresh.
The hotel was very professionally run and organised. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke good English.
Contrary to other comments here, we were not automatically spoken to in German first, and we didnt encounter any bias towards or against any nationality. On the week we stayed here there seemed to be the same number of Brits here as Germans, and certainly no more Germans than at any other resort in Spain. In any case, all the guests we met here were nice and friendly, regardless of nationality. We encountered no yobbish or loutish behaviour from any guests.
Food was of a very good quality with a wide range of choice, you could help yourself to as much as you liked. There was always a fish option as well as several different meats, pastas, potatoes and salads, the list was endless. My two fussy children never went hungry! Breakfasts were equally good, on Sunday morning as part of the breakfast we were offered smoked salmon and cava.
The pool was great and there was always a sunbed available. Even if you came down as late as 9am you could get one of the really good spots (there were no bad areas!).
The resort itself consists of one main strip leading down to the beach, mainly toot shops and bars. We would take a walk down the strip in the evening but always make our way back to the hotels fabulous roof top bar for cocktails.
Rooms, and the rest of the hotel, are spotlessly clean. We found the size of the rooms perfectly adequate and the showers were a lovely big size. Pool towels were given out free of charge three times a week.
Altogether a really great holiday and we would definitely go back there. I totally recommend it.
