“Good relaxing holiday”
Reviewed 13 September 2012

Stayed at this hotel from 24/7/12 for 11 nights with my husband and 17 year old daughter and had a really lovely time with very hot, sunny weather. The hotel is in a very good location with plenty of bars and shops around but not close enough to any to cause sleepless nights. There is a large supermarket if you go down the drive to the main road and turn right, about a 10/15 minute walk along the main road and you will come to it. Here you can buy virtually anything you may need, a lot cheaper than the nearby Spa supermarket.

As stated in previous reviews the best thing about the hotel is the availability of sunbeds whatever time of day you go down to the pool and because the grounds are spacious you have plenty of room around you, you are not tripping over the person on the sunbed next to you. If you want some shade there are plenty of trees to lie under. There are some umbrellas but only around the terrace pool and these sunbeds do tend to go earlier than the rest. The pools were a little cool when we arrived but appeared to warm up during our stay, or maybe we just got used to it!

The room was kept very clean by the friendly maids but there wasn't that much spare room with 3 beds in it. We had asked for a high floor room, overlooking the pool and we were allocated a room on the 3rd floor overlooking the pool, so very pleased. The tv unusually had quite a few english channels which came in very handy to catch up on the olympic news whilst getting ready in the evenings. There is a safety deposit box in the room which you have to pay for but the fridge is free to use for your own drinks etc, very useful.

The restaurant has many different seating areas, so there are always plenty of tables available inside or out. The food was very good with plenty of choice and show cooking every night and always piping hot. The only day we were not too keen on was the Tuesday, but cant remember what theme it was now!

The children attending the kids clubs appeared to enjoy themselves and the staff were always very friendly but it did seem to be predominantly in German along with many guests but this was not a problem at all.

The spa was excellent and all free to use - the pool, jacuzzi, steam rooms etc etc. We went there daily for a chill out at the end of the day and thoroughly enjoyed it.

All in all a nice relaxing holiday and would definitely return.

We (family of 4) had 10days holiday at the end of August. From the second we arrived the warmth and friendliness of the staff shown through. We had an apartment in the new block, my wife had e-mailed to have quiet location, which we received - shows it is worth asking. Apartment was what you'd expect, but very clean, good air conditioning, comfortable beds, TV with UK programmes in living room and bedroom. The cleaner came every day and did an excellent job.

The restaurant was a buffet arrangement and the choice was good (5 or 6 main dishes), the quality was good (we didn't have a bad meal, and if you did then you could just get something else). The waiter / waitresses were also excellent, efficient and friendly. Breakfast choice is excellent (fruit, cereal, cheese, cold meat, bacon, eggs, omelettes, beans, sausages( very German), juice, tea, coffee various breads etc)

There were plenty of sunbeds for everyone, and due to the number of trees in the grounds plenty of shade. There is games and entertainment throughout the day, and although dominated by Germans at the start of our holiday by the end the majority of kids had become Brits.

The rooftop bar gives superb views and again bar staff were excellent.

There is also a good Spa on site

Be aware the hotel is predominantly aimed at Germans (c70%), but it was about 50:50 by the second week. We were informed that 60% of guests return year on year and that doesn't surprise us.

The one down side in Can Picafort is not the most beautiful of resorts, beach is clean, but bars etc look shabby.

Don't book through Thomson / Tui - we did all on line and saved 25%

We have just got back from this wonderful hotel and felt we needed to share our experience. We travelled as a family of 9 Which can sometimes cause problems in the dinner hall etc. but not so here from the first morning we arrived we were led to our table by the head waiter who reserved our table for the duration of our stay. Dinner & breakfast every day was very good we were spoilt for choice. The pool area is large and lucious with plenty of space for sunbeds which you could put where you liked. We felt that the main pool could have been heated though as on some days towards the end of our stay the weather wasnt't very good so made the pool very cold. The rooms were very cleaned and well layed out if a little small. We were put in three rooms next to each other ooverlooking the front of the hotel so you could see the car park but you also got a nice view of the sea and mountians in the distance. The animacion team were absolutely brilliant we took part in the football and volleyball and even had a match against them. (3-0 to us) they also put on some shows in the evenings which werent really to our liking. The hotel did have some good entertainment down in the bar salon and rooftop bar, which you must visit as the views are stunning. Ca'n Picafort is a lovely area with the short walk to the beach lined with little shops and tavernas. We had a boat trip from the marina which was great and good value for money. On a final note i would like to comend the grounds keeper/maintenance man for his tireless hard work there didn't seem to be a point were he wasn't cleaning, moving or fixing something. In the heat wouldn't have been able to do it myself. I have no hesitations in recommending this hotel.

Two weeks at hotel in mid August.Hotel is not that impressive from outside the entrance but this is because it is older than a lot of 4* hotels, rooms ok really nice bathrooms. Its worth paying extra for a room on the poolside of the hotel we were on the 5th floor and you could see the sea but you only got the sun on the balcony in the morning on this side of the hotel. The food was exellent with plenty of choice.I read a report which said the staff were not very friendly to the British ,we found this totally untrue ,I would go as far as to say they were the most polite and friendly staff I have encountered .The spa was great ,free and was never busy. For me the best thing about the hotel is the pool area. This must be in a minority of hotels in Spain were you can get a sunbed and not have somebody sitting more or less on top of you at any time of day because the grounds are so big and well maintained.Only complaint of the hotel would be the night time entertainment, reps miming on stage and brought in acts were pretty dire with the exception of the 70s band .Jetski tour in Ca'n Picafort is great trip out and much more fun than riding round the bouys,325 Euros per ski for 3 hours. 2 people on ski take turns driving a great time.

Room Tip: top floor pool side

My family and I have just returned a few days ago. I, my parents and my nana all went together. This hotel was great as it is quite wheels chair friendly. Although my nana does not need a wheel chair she finds it hard to walk long distances and struggles with stairs, she had no problems getting around this hotel and there were other wheelchair uses that could get around without much of a problem.
The rooms were clean and a good size. However, we had to move rooms as we got one right above the air-conditioning machine. The other room was good and the maid was lovely and always did our room. The only other thing is that the walls are quite thin and so it can be very noisy at night when you are trying to sleep.
The food was great and there was a lot to choose from, they also have a special section at breakfast for people who are allergic to glutton which was great. In the restaurant tables for four people were hard to find unless you came down to dinner early, but the food never ran out no matter how late you came down. The waiters were really friendly and helpful. I could not fault them in any way. The only bad point about the food was that there were a lot of flies and I saw a stray cat in the restaurant on occasions.
There is a lovely roof top bar that is open at night. We spent almost every night up there and I took some great photos of Mallorca as on a clear day you can see for miles. If you get there early enough then you get to see the sun set over the mountains, which is incredible. The only bad point is that there is a bit of a step to get up to the outside part of the bar which could make it hard for wheelchair users.
The children's entertainment in the day time was amazing, they are very dedicated to the children's club and have lots of games for the people to play, adults and children alike. However, I found the night time entertainment sub-standard. We went their last year and one night that had a pool party with an Elvis impersonator and we were astonished to see that the act was exactly the same as last year with the same person.
The hotel was quite close to the sea and there were lots of nice restaurants and gift shops. The beach was clean and the life guards were very helpful.
The pools were great and we had minimal problems getting sunbeds. There is an indoor pool that is located inside the hotel as well as the three exterior pools. The outside pools consist of a children’s play pool and two other large pools. It is a mainly German hotel but they are really nice and most speak English.
The spa was good and the prices were fair. I had a facial and it was great. They have a large gym and a spa pool with a sauna and Turkish bath, which can be used for free if you stay there.
One of the unique things about this hotel is that there is a professional bike shop inside its grounds and if you choose to stay there you can get discounts off the bikes. I would really recommend this as it is great fun and you get to keep the water bottle and tool kit. My dad has hired a bike both years and said that it was great and that there were lots of places to ride to.
I really enjoyed staying here and would recommend it. However, I would not go again as we seem to be very unlucky at that hotel ( This is our 2nd time here and both times one of us had ended up in hospital – through no fault of the hotel though as they have been lovely ). If you choose this hotel I hope that you have a lovely time as it is a great hotel.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the rooms that face the pool on floor 1 as some of them have a rubbish view and can be...

We have just returned from a weeks holiday along with my mother and my 15 year old friend. Could not falut this hotel in any way. Friendly and helpful bar men and holiday reps. Although lots of german people there, we were all very pleasantly surprised to find them all so friendly! With pools and entertainment didn't need to leave the hotel because of lots going on. Highly recommend the roof top bar and the spa that mother went to nearly every single day! The beach and shops short walk down the road. Also recommend paddle boats for teenagers or young children, kept us busy! The food was very nice with lots of choice, didn't go hungry! Room was fairly small for three of us, but only stayed in the room at night, we all slept very well and it was cleaned every single day. There was always a lot going on at night, with holiday reps that include you in everything. Would happily go back now.

Room Tip: High Floor, Pool View - no problems with noise.

One week half board holiday with wife and two children, aged 5 and 1. Original room didn't have a very good view and so I asked to be moved to a room with a pool view. Staff were very obliging and offered us the last 4 nights in a different room with a pool view. Room with two adults, a pull out bed and a cot is very small and so you need to be organised!

Food was excellent for adults and children; beautifully presented buffet, plentiful, varied and good quality. Restaurant staff particularly friendly, especially towards my children - they could not have made us feel more welcome. Stunning swimming pools with waterfalls and various features, plenty of space, beautiful grounds and a brilliant splash pool with slides for young children - could not have been better!

Excellent location within striking distance of the beautiful beach. Taxi to the airport was €75 which was well worth it as it was nicely air-conditioned and took less than an hour door to door.

The only negative point was the completely inadequate air-conditioning in both rooms we stayed in. Even on full, the temperature did not reduce to a satisfactory level. I have spent time in Hong Kong and Singapore this summer in several hotels with higher humidity and temperature, where the air-conditioning was as it should be. Grupotel must take note and rectify the issue.

Overall, we enjoyed a great week in a fantastic hotel. Staff are incredibly friendly, the roof-top bar is breath-taking, the swimming pools are stunning and we will return next year, in an apartment rather than a room to give us some more space.
