Cannot fault this hotel.

My wife and I, with our 21 month old daughter stayed for a week and have only got praise for the hotel and all it's staff.
We had no language barrier as all the staff we met spoke English. Yes there are mainly German guest, about 70% but it is nice to go away to Spain and not be surrounded by "Brits aboard"!!!
If you want a nice relaxing holiday in the sun with all you need for a family then this is the place.
The kids club is mainly in German with English as the second language but our daughter is too young for this so it didn't matter to us.
The food was lovely with a really big choice, served hot and fresh.

The resort is very nice and well kept and the beach is really good.
I can't think of any negatives or any way the hotel can improve. I would really recommend this hotel and would go back without hesitation.

Lovely hotel, very clean, bedrooms have everything you need even a mini fridge, they also provide towels for the pool or beach three times a week from the spa. The restaurant is bright and clean and the food is good, you won't starve as there is a great variety. The only problem we had on the whole trip was when we were leaving, we were told to get a specific numbered coach, but when it turned up it had a different number and the driver said there would be another coach for us, but it turned out we should have been on it, and it had to come back for us, but this is down to the tour operator, not the hotel.

We returned to this hotel for a weeks holiday after loving our stay there last year - however, this time we were disappointed & felt standards had slipped slightly. Below are the positives & negatives of the hotel/resort.

Positives

- lovely resort - I have been visiting C'an Picafort almost annually for the past thirteen years & think it is a lovely, fairly quiet resort to relax for a week in the sun. Beaches are nice & clean & the whole resort is great value for money.

- the spa/pool facilities & the gardens around the pool are kept very well & everywhere is very clean.

- reception staff are very knowledgeable & are happy to book restaurant reservations etc for you or advise on buses etc.

- rooftop bar - a bar with a fantastic view and live music in the evenings. Very relaxing.

- always ample amounts of sunbeds available throughout the day.

Negatives

- breakfast was very disappointing compared with last (we only had B&B so cannot comment on dinner). Eggs are not cooked to order (like in the majority of foreign resorts ranked a lot lower than this one) & staff generally speak only Spanish or German so asking, for example, to have your eggs flipped over can turn into a linguistic nightmare. Also, on one of the days my boyfriend got some butter to put on his toast to find it was rancid!!! Good job he didn't eat it and again there was no way (other than getting them to smell it for themselves) of getting the staff to understand that the butter was off.

- the pools are so freezing it can make swimming an unpleasant experience. It would be nice if the outdoors pools could be heated.

- the beds are the most uncomfortable we have ever slept on they are more like benches so consequently we did not sleep well at all.

- air con was not working very effectively in either my parents or our room, so much so my parents felt it was cooler (and quieter) to sleep with the balcony door open then have the air con on.

Overall the resort is fantastic for a short cheap fix of sun but the hotel wasn't up to the standard of what you would expect of a hotel in the Thomson platinum category and I doubt we will return to the hotel again. Also, if you don't like having too many children around you on holiday or other nationalities avoid this hotel as there are children running & screaming everywhere & the hotel is very German focused which was fine for us but may not suit all.

Room Tip: If you are looking to do any trips then I would recommend the mountain trip and a day trip to Formen...

Our 2nd visit here in the past couple of years and once again we were not disappointed. Lovely hotel, amazing spa, great pools, good food, friendly staff, great location a short walk from a lovely beach.

LOADS of sun beds! (why can't every other hotel get this simple thing right like the Gran Vista does?)

Breakfast and dinner everything you could want and the serving staff are so friendly. Xavi the waiter a special mention for being a ska fan!

Beds are hard.

Like the fact its long trousers at dinner...nothing worse than a family turning up in their swimming gear to put you off your olives.

There are no beers, wines or coffee included with dinner you have to order these and put them on your tab, not a major problem but the house wine is expensive (11 euros in the hotel, same bottle is 3 euros in the spar shop next door)

Evening entertainment was ok, saw a couple of good shows but they start and finish too early. They want you in bed by 11 but there are lots of nice bars nearby with better drinks.

Roof top bar is a lovely place but once again drinks not up to the standard of the local bars. Pina Colada was warm, weak and served in a vase, sangria was from a tap...we went to the seafront bars where the sangria was awesome! Like a red wine fruit salad.. try the seafront bar on corner where they hand out strawberries to passers by.

Transfer home was interesting as bus driver was more confused than we were as to whether it was the right bus but all worked out ok.

Well done to the Spanish staff who seem to be getting back to good customer service to bring in the euros :-)

Room Tip: All rooms good, we've been front and back of hotel and neither noisy (unless you go to bed at 9)

Just returned from a week at the Gran Vista. Excellent hotel, exceptionally clean and a wide variety of good food (worth noting, we booked with Thompson and were not made aware that men need to wear long trousers, or at least below the knee, for dinner). The pool area is huge with plenty of sun beds even well into the afternoon. The hotel location is great, just a short walk down the pedestrianised street with shops and bars to the promenade. As the hotel is German run and the Brits are in the minority, the entertainment team do seem to speak more German but they also speak good English and work very hard to accommodate everyone. Entertainment overall was good. The facilities in the spa exceeded expectations with a great steam room, plunge pool etc. Overall an excellent holiday and we would definitely return.

really good hotel, we had a lovely time. all staff are very polite n friendly, hotel is spotlessly clean, food is excellent witch changes daily with lots to choose from. spa is very good again very clean n lots to do... pool, gym, sauna, steam room, iglu room, massages n treatments. definatly worth a visit. pools are gorgeous with jacuzzi n waterfall, and also liitle pool with slides for kids. but the thing that won me over was there is no need for the mad rush in the morning for a sunbed, becasue no matter what time u go down there are stacks of sunbeds dotted around the pool areas, so u can just grab one n pick ur spot for the day. beach is only 4 min walk away which is lovely with bars and resteraunts all along the front. nothing bad at all to say about this place we had a great time n wud recomend to anyone...enjoy. x

Room Tip: all room are good we were directly above entrance but still had great nights sleep no problems with...

We booked this holiday on the fact that it was a 4 star hotel and near to shops and to the beach and we also were a family travelling with x2 3 year old's. We felt a bit let down by the hotel as the food wasn't fantastic. It was however very clean and tidy.Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The swimming pool was extremely cold as a warning to you all,it was 28 when we were there and still very cold,my daughter had to get out at some points as she was shivering so much.Like a lot of people have said no bath, which was not great for my daughter as she hates a shower, rooms a little small but always had the maids come round and clean. Was a 10min walk to the beach which was lovely and only a stone throw away from the shops. We had a pool view and we found that it wasn't at all noisy,I think if we were situated at the front of the hotel it would have been.Overall I would say that we have had a lovely holiday but hotel not as lovely as what I thought it would be
