Just returned from our seventh time at this hotel, and once again you excelled, from the minute we arrived to be greeted with a friendly smile and face was our wayne the night porter.
The hotel is superbly run by the hotel team, and nothing is to much trouble.

The entertainment was outstanding with fantastic shows which was run by the brilliant Suzanne who was brilliant with the children, the hotel has maintained the regular staff since I started going to this hotel. its a shame we were not able to stay longer
the sundaes is a show not to be missed.

After hours of sifting through Trip Advisor comments we booked a superior family room (two adjoining rooms with sea views) for our family of five. We loved our fourth floor rooms as they had gorgeous views of the beach and beyond and the balconies were a pleasant place to relax, read a book and sip a drink. The rooms had a light clean (towels, toilet, floor) each day (except Wednesday) and bedclothes changed twice per week. The aircon in the rooms worked well and at night the hotel was generally quiet.

I understand some other rooms are "dated" and that some sea views are better than others. I'm told the rooms in the upper floors have been renovated more recently. I'm glad we paid the extra to get nice rooms with a sea view. Negative comments here seem to be from those who made a difference choice.

There were two lifts and each supposedly held up to 6 - but they'd ping if there was more than 4. We never had to wait more than a few moments for the lift - but a walk up a few stairs really wouldn't have been a problem - after the food & drink quite often we chose the stairs!!

There's free wi-fi in the bar/reception area and it works well. Room wi-fi is available at €6 per device per week.

The pool is small for the size of hotel but it's not an issue as the Med is just a few yards away and the beach is lovely. Go beyond it in the morning (before it gets too hot) to walk along the beaches/paths to the necropolis and beyond. Take a sun cap and plenty of water.

Some sun loungers at the hotel were tired but none we saw were broken. The hotel tries to regulate selfish behaviour by putting yellow tickets on beds where only the towel is sunbathing but I suspect they're fighting a losing battle - and not a German in sight.

We're too canny to go on expensive excursions but did thoroughly enjoy relatively cheap day trips to Alcudia Town and Peurto Pollensa on the local bus which stops outside the hotel - I think it's service 352. Both are lovely towns and well worth a visit.

All of our family liked the food in the hotel. There was a wide selection to cater for all breakfast tastes and there were always plenty of free tables when we went down - usually circa 08:30. For evening meals (dinners) the hotel is on a 14 day menu cycle and we were always able to find a good meal amongst a wide and varied menu. Soup is available every day, various starters, then a wide selection of main courses; quite often I've have a little bit of each. The desserts were particularly nice too. The food will be good for all but the faddiest eaters.

Thomsons' and hotel staff were a credit to their employers; polite, courteous, and helpful. Two Thomsons' Reps were posted in Reception each day (light blue t-shirts with "Thomsons" on the front?) and mixed well with their guests so I'm not quite sure how anyone could miss them. They helped us with one problem and numerous questions and I highly commend them for their work, particularly the Welsh lassie.

Evening entertainment was parrot/quiz/bingo/children dancing so we gave it a miss most nights and often wondered along the promenade to Can Picafort (about 15/20 mins walk) where it's busier with more sights, shops, bars, restaurants, etc. I liked it but it was a little too "Blackpool" for my wife. If you don't fancy the walk grab a taxi from outside the hotel for circa €5 each way or the ting ting train for €3 per person return.

We liked to watch live football at nearby Scandals bar (out of hotel turn right, 300 yards) as the hosts were lovely, the drinks cheap, and the service very good. I recommend this bar and we sometimes snacked there through the day. It was spoiled a little by some belligerant ManU fans during one match but the rest of the customers were decent and well behaved.

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Son Baulo and recommend it to others subject to the cautions noted in my post.

Room Tip: Some rooms are "dated" and some sea views are better than others. I'm told the rooms i...

Having read all the previous rave reviews of this hotel I feel I must've been staying at a different place. Arrived here for a 3 night stay after a week on the Thomson Dream, and talk about coming back down to earth with a bump! As a party of 10 (a family of 5, 3 and 2), we had booked 4 rooms to accommodate us all, but were amazed to be told by reception that they had only 3 rooms available for us until the following day and to share those between us (?!) Eventually they managed to find us the 4th room, but the staff were none too friendly and we were made to feel like the guilty party! We had 2 rooms with a roomy balcony on the first floor overlooking a courtyard and the kids club (so with no view to speak of), but these were far better than the other 2 rooms we had overlooking the road! These rooms were noisy from the passing traffic and the bar over the road, and dark and damp smelling from the trees directly outside the balconies. One night we were kept awake most of the night from people running around the corridors yelling and screaming-where were the night staff to deal with this in a family hotel? The rooms themselves were fairly clean; 2 of our party had to deal with a very ferocious cleaner banging on the door 3 times to collect the towels for changing, each time she was handed a pile she knocked again for the rest, one of which was wrapped around someone showering in the bathroom! Corridors dark and dirty, wouldn't want to sit on the carpet runner in case of things living in it. The food in the restaurant was of a good standard but not enough choice for kids or vegetarians, but the restaurant itself was like a canteen with not enough seats and like the rest of the hotel in need of refurbishment. Can't comment on the entertainment because we didn't stay in to watch it, but can recommend Crazy Horse bar just up the road from the hotel (turn right on the road); Paco and his wife are fab and make a really fun atmosphere for a good night out. All in all a really dated hotel in need of a major overhaul; a real shame because it could be a real gem with its excellent location. For the first time ever we weren't sorry to be going home...........

Room Tip: Not on the road side!!!!!!

Despite Thomson's best efforts to ruin our holiday our stay at the Hotel Son Baulo turned out to be an excellent break mainly due to the staff and facilities of this hotel given it's star rating.

After a tortuous transfer from the airport to the resort (thank you once again Thomson) we arrived at the hotel not in the best frame of mind. The first thing that struck us was that the Son Baulo Hotel appeared to need modernising both internal and externally.

Once in our room we found it spacious, clean with plenty of storage and two double beds but like the hotel itself the room felt like it needed some updating.

Over the first couple of days we had a few minor issues but the hotel reception team were superb and not only took ownership of the problem but made sure it was resolved in a very quick turnaround time.

We'd booked half board and were a bit apprehensive of the restaurant as the hotel is 3 star (which we knew when we booked the holiday) yet though there was somewhat of a limited choice on offer our fears were put to rest as the food that was available was very good and exceeded expectation.

The swimming pool area was good and we always managed to find enough sun loungers to relax on plus the pool bar and kids play area were a bonus.

The beach is right on the doorstep so we could switch between the pool and beach with ease.

We stayed for two weeks in June and found the hotel to be quite peaceful in the evening though we suspect that may change during the school holiday period.

We couldn't fault the hotel or it's staff and rate it very highly when you balance it against what we paid and it's star rating, pound for pound it's one of the better value hotels we have stayed in. As such we wouldn't want it to undertake a dramatic modernisation programme as the cost will be passed onto the customer and this could impact on the great value this hotel offers.

We spoke to several other guests during our stay and the majority of responses regarding the hotel was the same, excellent value and service for what you pay. There were one or two groups who felt different and everyone have there own opinions and expectation levels which I fully respect but one couple, though they admitted paying one of the lowest prices available through Thomson for a break on Majorca and knowing Son Boulo was only a 3 star hotel still expected a 5 star hotel and service.

The resort itself is a little quiet with a few shops and bars and the main part of town is a fair walk away but this shouldn't distract from the hotel itself. I had serious issues with Thomson's during this trip but this aside this is an excellent hotel they offer in their range for value and adds to the choice available.

what can I say about this hotel dated grubby and the food very poor. I have gone with Thomson and the hotels have always been to my expectations, we went as a group of 14 with children, it took a lot hard work and saving to go , confident the brand Thomson was going to be a good experience especially for those who haven't been abroad. We paid half board so we wouldn't have to pay for food how wrong was I. The food was very poor, breakfast was ok but the evening meal was terrible, no selection and the choice for kids was rubbish. When we booked we assumed it catered for kids. We had to go out to eat went to Monaco's great food thank god.The reps well didn't see much of them no greeting when we arrived or when we left the hotel looked after ourselves, The brochure raves about the beach, sunbeds broken, and more dog ends than an ashtray needs cleaning up, we went to alcudia beach where is lovely and clean. I feel I was misled by the brochure about this poor hotel, I wasn't expecting the Ritz but I did expect better than this. I have always had good experience with Thomson, that's why when we booked I wasn't worried, but this hotel needs a serious upgrade, the staff at the hotel were pleasant. We only stayed for a week but it was an EXPENSIVE ONE....

Set on the beach with a small selection of bars and shops the location of this hotel was brilliant!! Reception staff welcomed us with a lovely warm smile and check in was very fast. Finding our room was very easy. Room was lovely with comfy beds and plenty of storage space. We had a pool view and balcony was a very good size. We had interconnecting rooms which was great :) We were half board and OMG the food was amazing, so much choice and everyday the food was different choices and fresh. The reps were fantastic but I think the 1 thing that really makes this hotel so good is the staff......the waiters/bar staff and kitchen staff treat you like family, always smiling and chatty, they all really enjoy their job. We cant wait to return one day. Can Picafort was a little too quiet for us but thanks to the amazing staff at a lovely hotel we didn't want to come home!!! Such a clean, spotless hotel too

Where do I begin with this holiday. We arrived at the airport feeling very excited that we were going away with our close family for the first time. In total there was 14 of us and my mother and father in law spent a large amount of money for us to be able to go away together. We were directed to our Thomson coach transfer and took the journey to our hotel. The Thomson rep did not make any effort to welcome us on our holidays and when we arrived at the hotel the only words that left her mouth on this journey was 'this is hotel son baulo' this was the only time we saw her during our trip. The complex is large and was very surprised by the size of the lift and that I know there was only two!!. We booked the holiday as a group and was very surprised on our room locations. We were not next to one another and our room felt like a shuttle journey away from everyone else!
Our first thoughts when we entered our rooms was a dump, dirty, basic sub-standard accommodation and was taken back as the reviews really rated this hotel. We didn't even have a double bed, curtains that covered the window and our view was a very large tree hiding the road. We were shocked to receive a note under our door on the third day asking us to remove our towels from the balcony to maintain the reputation of the hotel. The hotel is a **** hole and requires demolition its like a hotel from the 1970's and no one would be able to see our towels because we had the biggest tree living in our balcony.
We felt like we were sleeping at a bus depot and endured regular ding dings from the train that passed every hour. Cleaner what cleaners they were present on our floor each day but certainly did not clean our rooms. We spent a week sleeping in the same bed sheets and if we were lucky occasionally we may have had our towels changed.
The only good thing about the hotel was the breakfast and the bar staff extremely friendly and helpful, the evening food was awful ,the children had to eat out as they did not cater for them.we had to eat out some nights as the food menu made our stomachs churn and our bottoms burn,we ate out at a restaurant called monaco's which is in can picafort town centre which was 5 star and would recommend anyone to eat there, the food was fantastic and value for money thank god for monaco's .
On our last night it rained through the night and we woke to find water cascading down the walls and through the ceiling it felt like a scene from the film titanic we quickly packed and made a quick escape to the bus back to the airport nightmare over thank god .you have been warned!!!
