“Definitely NOT a 4 Star hotel!!!”
Reviewed 9 May 2012

My wife and I stayed at this hotel from 1 st to 8 th May 2012 . I know some people will always find something to moan about and complain but I will write an honest report about this hotel as we found it . We have travelled the MED .area quite a lot and always stay in 4 star hotels so I can compare with authority.
On arrival, one is assigned to one of the 9 blocks scattered around the very nice well kept gardens --there are no lifts ,so people with " problems " must ask for a lower floor . The rooms are adequate in size but the balcony is so small on the second and third floor rooms, that when the small table is in the middle ,the french doors will not open fully !! The hotel is very dated and this is reflected in the fixtures/fittings in the room --1960's style --dull and boring colour schemes .The bathrooms are old and desperately need money spending on them .The TV is only a 19 in. one with very limited channel choice ( one has to pay extra for normal hotel channels found in other 4 star hotels !! ) One has to pay also for the safe .
The blocks remind me of Army barracks--they too need painting to " brighten up " their appearances .
There is no indoor pool but the existing outdoor pool is fine . On our arrival there were only 28 people there and in some respects I can understand why ---the food !!
One of the main ingredients of a good holiday is the food and this is where the hotel fails beyond belief ---Of all the 4 star hotels we have been in ,without fear of contradiction, this has to be the worst . Given that the breakfast was just ok ( one can't really go wrong here ) Evening dinner each night was a complete disaster --Quantity,Quality and Choice -non existent . One evening our main choice was as follows --a piece of pork . CHICKEN WINGS ( !! ) croquette potatoes ( just mush ) potatoes in skins and runner beans --one fish dish only . Another evening we were offered beef that had been cooked for a 6.30 pm start and allowed to cool throughout the evening --it was so tough -again on two evenings, steak, the latter was pure gristle .The food that should be hot is not . The meat quality was so poor and the worst I have ever come across in any hotel. The choice of bread was so restricted ,desserts lacked imagination and choice --cake was served wrapped in cellophane ,as though it had come off the supermarket shelf . Fruit( tinned ) looked as though it had been rescued from the Titanic . Several guests were complaining --something MUST be done . This hotel is now called the Weight Watchers hotel !
One elderly guest commented in the Dining room to me --"it's good here " and I think this sums up ,with respect ,what this hotel is all about ,as I saw it --most of the guests were elderly and had not experienced modern hotels with modern standards of food . Many were "return " guests who felt comfortable in this small hotel--and I can understand it .
The hotel staff were excellent ,especially the reception staff and it all seemed a family --they had time to talk to guests and make them feel welcome . This is sold as a Thomson GOLD hotel --from the point of view of the hotel itself, this would fail under the terms of the Trades Description Act I am sure BUT in its defence, I have to say the Thomson Team were brilliant ,ably led by Lisa and the very talented Deano ( unfortunately he had to leave to cover in the Levante Hotel ,Cala Bona --at least he will get some real good food ! ) Mention should also be made of Marcus and Katie . They worked very hard and gave us each evening some outside professional acts to enjoy --of very good quality too !
We only went on one Thomson trip as they tended to be expensive --
Come Fly With Me ( a Frank Sinatra tribute ) --it was the best £100 spent -the show was fantastic and everyone should go and enjoy it .
So the holiday was not a complete disaster -the weather was very kind to us and C'an Picafort is a very nice town to visit ( not like Alcudia ! ) . The hotel is situated in a pleasant residential area and is a 20 min. walk away from the town
Would we return to Picafort Park Hotel --sorry no . There are much better hotels for the same or less price in Majorca and the Med -----we felt, as far as the food and accommodation was concerned ,we had been both mislead and let down by Thomsons .
A few more guests arrived towards the end of our stay but clearly the hotel has a problem ---the manager was conspicuous by his absence and when he did visit the restauurant, always walked down to the kitchen using the part of the restuarant not used by the few guests. 3/4 of the restaurant was not used !!
Thomsons should not advertise this as a Gold Hotel !!---on our experience !--3 star possibly .

I have stayed in this hotel on 3 occasions & have not been disappointed yet. Have stayed twice in June & once in October. Each time was most enjoyable but with less people there at the end of the season it was actually more enjoyable! The location is good as it is in a quiet part of the town & close to the bus stop from where you can catch buses to Palma as well as Alcudia & Pouerta Polenza. There was always a great choice from the buffet & one good point is that even if you were leaving very early there was no problem getting a good breakfast. The grounds are excellent with a tennis court at your disposal. One excellent point is that you can always get a sunbed no matter what time of the day you go out to sunbathe! Being a Thompson gold hotel there are always plenty of activities going on & the entertainment in the evenings is very good. It is well worth a visit! Perhaps the only down side is that you must pay for everything in cash. You cannot sign for it against your room number & pay by debit or credit card at the end of the week.

Room Tip: The rooms are in 3 story blocks round the complex. My advice would be to choose a room on the 3rd. f...

Very good Thomson Gold hotel for adults only so plenty of activities if you wish. Gardens as well as poolside for sunbathing. Located in a quiet, mainly residential area, but with easy access to beach and pleasant walk along promenade to town centre of Ca'n Picafort. Bus stop round corner provides transport to other parts of the island.

Room Tip: Some rooms have lots of sun, others none. Ask in advance for a room to suit.

We stayed here for 5 nights in October as a short break. All in all a pretty impressive hotel for the money.

The rooms are well appointed if a little dated and the grounds are spotlessly clean and well looked after.

The food was a little disappointing as the selection wasn't great. Everything from the show cooking area also seemed to be cold - I can't see the point of carving a large joint and leaving it to go cold on the plate (the hot plate didn't seem to work and even the gravy/sauce was cold). If they spent a little more time preparing some alternative hot dishes rather than the rather unappealing pasta salads the eating experience could be much improved. Maybe the food is better in high season.

The bar service was great and drinks were pretty reasonably priced compared to most other hotels I've been to.

Entertainment was actually pretty reasonable and Ruthless - the resident duo - did an outstanding job each evening.

The area around the hotel is fairly nice and it's a good 10-15 minutes stroll into the main town where there are quite a few bars/restaurants etc...

The reception staff were brilliant and very friendly. All in all a very pleasant stay.

this was a thomson gold hotel, but I believe it may be dropped for 2012,we found the grounds impressive, with more than adequate sunloungers.food was good however we are not too keen on fish but had an adequate choice of other options each evening, rooms were good too but have to pay extra for the safe in your room.Staff were attentative and helpful.the hotel is close to the bus stop and there is a good service to Porta pollenca and Alcudia
€2.56 single, get the ticket on the bus.a great resort if you are into walking, you can walk along the beach into Alcudia, about 2 hours 15 minutes,or go in the opposite direction and see the neolithic remains, about 25 minute walk along the beach, which eventualy turns into a kind of dirt track road after 15 minutes which is easier going.
The hotel had good late evening Cabaret with guest artists from the U,k.
Allin all a most enjoyable holiday in a reasonably priced resort for snacks and drinks along the promenade.

Me & my Hubby went to this hotel in September 2011 & it was fantastic. Everything about it was great. We would definately go back. Drinks could be a bit cheaper but next year you will have all inclusive option and drinks are free. Problem solved

Visited here in October 2011 with my mother. Slight disappointment when we first arrived as we had been led to believe this 4* hotel was close to the town as my mother is unable to walk far. It is actually a long way to town, but we were grateful for that as it was only minutes from the sea front and much more peaceful and pleasant than if we had been nearer the busy centre. There is a regular novelty train which does a round trip and is a really pleasant journey.
The hotel itself was very good. The rooms are in 3 storey blocks which were concrete fronted and don't look very inviting at first .The decor in the room was very dated but it was clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. We were on the ground floor facing the pool but apart from the gardener with his leaf blower outside in the morning, it was quiet.
The pool area in the centre of the complex was kept clean but the water was very cold.
The restaurant was excellent with plenty of choice and good quality with very good service from the staff. The entertainment team worked really hard and there seemed to be plenty to do if that was what you wanted.
The evening entertainment was to a reasonable standard with two excellent performances from the Thompson entertainment team and some classical singers. We were there for half term and it was the last week of the season, but everything was kept going and even when we were two of the last few guests left in the hotel, the entertainment kept going and the food was still excellent. We have been in other hotels in their last week of the season and been made to feel like we should switch the lights out as we left as everything gets shut down, but did not feel this here at all.
There are two very pleasant restaurants on the sea front just below the hotel with fresh fish dishes and good service. The bus stop is just around the corner with regular buses to Alcudia, Porto Pollenca, Palma and other destinations if you don't want to go on the organised trips. The old town in Alcudia and Pto Pollenca are well worth a visit and the buses are very cheap.
Overall a very pleasant stay, would recommend if you want a very quiet relaxing holiday.
