“A lovely relaxing hotel”
Reviewed 11 September 2012

This was our fourth visit to this hotel. Our last visit was in 2008.

We are surprised by some of the more negative reviews. We agree and find the more postive comments very detailed and accurate. The hotel is peaceful, despite the option of constant entertainment. We find that you can join in, or find your own quiet space. It is very clean, the food is of a good standard and the staff are friendly and hard working. The entertainment team, Deano, Stacy and co, are very likeable and hard working. The entertainment is varied and more suited perhaps to the over 40s. However, there are local bars (we recommend Scandals Happy Hour which runs from 7pm until midnight and beyond!) and lovely walks along the seafront a few minutes from the hotel.

One night I had smoked salmon as a starter with salad and beef wellington for my main course. I really wonder where I would go locally in England for a meal like this and what it would cost?

I agree that the problem might be comparing hotels and holidays. They are all different and we are all looking for different things. We go back to this hotel for the relaxing atmosphere and excellent staff. When we are looking for something different we select another type of venue.

We agree that the noise emanating from the entertainment can seem to consume the whole hotel but why does it have to be so loud? It would be just as enjoyable at a reduced volume. Entertainment Team - please note! We thought the Phil Collins tribute act was excellent but too noisy (we are in our 50s but love our music) while ex-Brummie Graham Powell, who used to be the compere at the Night Out in B'ham and now lives in Alcudia, is an excellent entertainer. However, there was a sound problem with him. We missed a lot of what he said (very muffled) but great singer though.

The hotel offers very limited TV channels in the bedrooms - CNN (what a bore!) FOX (why?) and Sky News. Most English channels are available via a card available at reception for 2.5 euros per day. Why? Not impressed, and didn't come across any guests who had taken up this option.

Overall though, it's a very well done to all the staff at Picafort Park! We would return without hesitation.

Having been a Thomson gold customer for a long time, I have to say that this hotel is not what we would expect for the price of a gold hotel. The grounds and pool are lovely, although tended to turn into a bit of a bug soup with all the insects that decide to dive in. But the hotel itself is very dated, the rooms look tired, and I found the bar staff to be at the very least stand offish, and bordering on rude.I have to agree with the other reviews, that the area is a disappointment, with a fairly repetitive evening stroll into the area mainly populated by eastern European and German holidaymakers. The restaurant was OK, but with a very limited variety, apparently since the hotel went all inclusive. We found something nice to eat from the selection every time we ate in there, but we did eat out a few nights.Would I go back, in short no, come on Thomson, you need to sort out what all inclusive actually means, either go back to half board, and people will know that they have to buy the drinks, or go all inclusive proper, charge a bit more, and include all the premium drinks.until then, sorry, but we are voting with our our feet, and going to try for somewhere a bit more value for money. To all of the staff who worked very hard to make everyone happy, Pedro, Victoria, Lesley, and our chambermaid, well done, a credit to the hotel, to all the others who quite frankly made it look like a real effort to even speak to the customers, sorry guy's but we can do better elsewhere.

Room Tip: We stayed in d block on the top floor, sun all day on the balcony, but gets hot in the afternoon, bu...

Stayed here for two weeks end of August 2012. We were half board but the hotel also does all inclisive. The hotel is situated in a residential area and the nearest beach San balou is about 8 minutes walk. We tried it but found it to be filthy with litter everywhere and no effort was made during the time we spent there to clean any of it up. The other beach In Can Picafort is about 20 mins away and is kept spotless. Hotel is made up of 9 different buildings which surround the pool and it works quite well. Reception staff who were older than staff in most of hotels we have stayed were brilliant, nothing was to much bother.
The room (G307) was tired decor wise but kept spotless by the maids. Shower was rubbish with no pressure whatsoever. We went through Thomsons and paid extra for a room upgrade but the only difference was a double bed. ( a rip off Thomson)
There is only one bar in the hotel and you had to get in line with the A.I. guests to buy your drink which was all local brands. If you wanted name brands its 4 Euro dearer. Also the 2 weeks we were there AI were at the bar 11am in the morning and got louder as the day went on.
The entertainment was on from midday through to Midnight and if this is the kind of holiday you like then I could not fault the Thomson team who worked very hard . However if its not your idea of a holiday there is no place else to get away from it, unless you go to your room or leave the hotel.and there is not that many bars nearby.
If you wanted a sunbed you had to be out at the pool by 0700 am. Thomsons rep did her best to deter this but she was fighting a losing battle.
The Hotel restaurant opens at 0800 and closes prompt at 9pm and i mean prompt. staff start taking food away at this time. Most guests wanted to eat later which meant a large number of them appeared at 745pm causing the restaurant to be crowded and the staff running about like mad trying to get everybody seated.
Food is middle of the road. There is always something there for you to eat but not 4 Star food and the food got a bit repetative over the two week period..
Found Can Picafort itself to be tired and dirty and cateres mainly for the german market.
Overall the hotel is a three star hotel.
There is no chance of us returning to this hotel or the resort.

First of all - All inclusive is not all inclusive = even snacks had to be paid for i.e. a portion of chips!! even though we only went for lunch once during our 2 week holiday. Only 'cocktail of the day' was included in AIl inclusive (although not very nice) and others who paid only half board -their drinks were of better quality/quantity than the all inclusive. Bar Staff rude and should have smiled more. On the other hand the staff in the restaurant were professional and friendly and the food was of good quality and good variety. Perhaps this was down to the Matre De?? The pool area was lovely and the rooms and reception areas very clean. Suggest that gardening was carried out during the hours that guests weren't around the pool - as one morning we got drenched and others towels were soaked - this was around 10.00 am!! One evening the Quiz lasted for 1.5 hours - I do not class this as entertainment, No way is this a Thomson Gold!!!!!

Room Tip: choose room facing the pool, but no lifts so ensure ability to climb four flights of stairs to top f...

returned on 21st august after a 2 week stay at Can Picafort Park - loved the idea of no children but did not expect what we got. I am 54 and my husband 55 but we still want a bit of fun. No back ground music by the pool during the day - huge sunbed issue. Obviously this is a hotel that has many returning guests who know exactly where their daily place in the sun is - so much so one chap was lying on his sunbed at 6.30am with not a ray of sun in sight. We've had many AL holidays but I'm sorry to say the choice and quality of food left a lot to be desired. Lunch was adverised 1.00pm to 2.30pm. We arrived for lunch at 2.15 ( late breakfast means late lunch) - food was being cleared away and we were asked if we wanted dessert before we could think about main and the waitress was obviously avoiding taking a drinks order. Bang on 2.30pm the dining room lights went out!!! We thought the doors to the dining room would have closed at 2.30pm - certainly not heres your hat what's your hurry. Evening entertainment was a bit of a hit or a miss - as I said we are in our 50's - but we work hard and want to have fun on precious days in the sun.Balcony lights out at 11pm - the night is just beginning. The rooms are kept very clean - nice clean towels every day.Maids very pleasant. The reception staff and reps all very pleasant - we went on Sue's Tapas lunch which was very nice. Returned later to the restaurant ourselves but a little disappointed as our Tapas was served in one bowl rather than individual bowls.Would advise cosidering the 'No Frills' excursions - especially 'Rural Majorca' . My husband would like to give a special mention about Victoria who kept him happy each morning with his fried eggs or even better omellets ! We did meet a lot of lovely people but just felt our holiday lacked what we were looking for. So it's back to filling up the piggy bank and better luck next year - but will be wary of the star rating in the future did not feel this hotel is 4 star

Spent 2 weeks at this hotel in August. It's rated a 4 star by Thomson, but facilities are nowhere near those of 4 star in the Canaries, particularly the 'Spring' hotels and some of the H10 hotels. Rooms were large and airy, but in dire need of a freshen up decor wise. Gardens and pool area quite nice and food of good standard, albeit slightly limited choice.

Real concern revolved around the fact that the guests were all British and someone had made a decision on what British folk call 'entertainment'. While the staff worked hard the standard of evening entertainment was truly awful - terrible singers and 3rd class acts. This would not be so bad if there was somewhere to have a quiet drink, but the only place one can get away from the bingo and dreadful singing is your room, there's no piano bar. The racket emanating from the 'entertainment' encroaches on the whole hotel. We had to get out of the hotel to get away from it - not everyone wants to take part in bingo. Hi de hi we definitely do not want and will never go near this place again.

Room Tip: Block C is the only block worth trying to get - better still go to a better hotel!

Having just had 2 weeks at this hotel and I would recommend this break. The ent reps, Deno & Stacy did a wonderfull job ! If you go All Inclusive, do NOT book through Thomson, who will charge you £16 per person per day. Pay for AI when you arrive at the hotel at a cost of E 15/per/day. Pay in euros. At the current exchange, 2 persons for 2 weeks you could save £98. Staff very helpful, Except had a run in with the bar manager, who insited on puting the TV on (situated near the main stage) to watch, without sound, a Spanish football match. Hotel manager was going to action this complaint, unfortunatley, the same happened a week later.
Good large area around pools give a relaxing atmosphere.

Room Tip: ask for a pool view !
