“Great Activity Arrangers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2014

Stopped at Hotel Haiti for 11 nights and was very impressed with the Staff. Especially the 2 ladies who organised the daytime and some of the evening entertainment. Both Kara & Kirsty worked tirelessly to ensure all the guests had a great time and nothing was too much trouble for them.

Arrived home on 9th August after 2 weeks with our family of 3. Our room was 602 on the sixth floor and no the top 2 floors were sadly dated and not refurbished as I'd been told. Although cleaned every day it looked dirty with black marks on the floor and cracked tiles. Ours was a large family room but the balcony was very narrow to be honest. As other reviews state there's a serious problem with sunbeds. Not enough of them for the amount of guests staying. Also on an evening you don't really want to sit or lay on them again after you've spent the day on them. Again not enough seating outside . Really the hotel sits on grounds that need to be twice the size. Or take 30-40 rooms out and it'll be about right. The restaurant is smallish and staff work hard to clear tables so can't really complain here. The food although reasonable gets repetitive somewhat. Only twice was paella on the menu. Got fed up with cottage pie Shepherds pie and chips . Breakfast was better. Good selection of salads and deserts. It's a bit sad when you have to get up at 6-30 to queue for sunbeds. Apparently a week before we arrived people were out at 5 putting towels out before changing to 7 when door opens. And you all thought it was the Germans. Come on haiti if you have rules ADHERE to them. Too many people don't even use them until after lunch. Pool area dirty because they have no time to clean. Rubbish bins soon overflowing and not emptied very often. Be careful of depth of pool . Twice in 2 hrs a boy was helped out. Yes the same boy. Tragedy waiting to happen. Also the pool umbrellas have seen better days and on occasions these will blow away in a strong breeze. Cara and kirstie work hard with what they've got and believe me that's not a lot. Hope you have recovered kirstie after last week being taken ill. Can Picafort is lovely. A 10 minute walk takes you to the sea front and a great cosmopolitan atmosphere awaits. The london or William pubs are just a short stroll from the hotel. Turn right out of the hotel and right again and you'll find these two hostelries. All in all a holiday is what you make it and we made some wonderful friends there but everything needs an upgrade.

If you are a smoker with children then this is the place for you! The Thompson brochure illustration is very misleading - the pool looks huge whereas it is quite small. All outdoor areas are smoking areas, so if you do not smoke then you are confined to the inside of the hotel or you have to put up with cigarette smoke. The foot print of the hotel is too small for the number of guests, if it rains I seriously doubt that there is enough seating for everyone in the communal areas. If you want a sunbed be prepared to scrabble for one from around SIX o'clock although it is possible to get one from around four pm. Animation team 'took the michael' when I asked to have the volume of the music for the MINI DISCO turned down (I couldn't have a conversation on the far end of the bar area) The music was turned down when I asked but it was 'goosed' when I walked back to my seat and seemed louder than ever by the time that I got there. My Thompsom review has reflected this. Most staff are friendly and smiley, restaurant staff are efficient and most bar staff are excellent, my room was always clean. Food quality is not the best but I always managed to find something to eat, the variety seemed good. The hotel itself looked 'poor' and in need of refurbishment in a number of areas. The beach is GREAT and the sea crystal clear and about a ten minute walk away.

Room Tip: Avoid room on the first floor, the sound from the performance area is quite audible until about midn...

On arrival at 9pm we were told that the restaurant was closed, but within minutes a buffet had been arranged for new arrivals including soft drinks and wine - so first impressions were good (we booked with Thomson whose reps at this hotel have to rate among the best I have ever experienced). The room was adequate with a very efficient fridge, the balcony was spacious, the bathroom was well appointed, and all was kept spotlessly clean throughout the week. There was more than adequate wardrobe/drawer space.
The staff at the hotel worked tirelessly, particularly in the restaurant which offered an excellent choice or food at every meal time, the variety of dishes was different every day, hot food was served at the right temperature and cold food was chilled to the right temperature, absolutely no complaints whatsoever. The food was replenished right up until the close of meal times, and again was spotlessly clean.
Entertainment was not brilliant but because the hotel is not oversized most evenings were spent on the terrace chatting with other holiday makers. Last orders at the bar were 11.45 and it closed at midnight when the doors to the outside terrace/pool area were locked so no tomfoolery at an unreasonable hour. The pool area was kept very clean and tidy, with very friendly staff. If I had to fault this place at all it would be that the pool is very deep (apart from the sectioned off childrens area) and there is no recess/hand rail to hold onto around the edge of the pool. But really this hotel is excellent value for money all round - and is not far from the seafront for a nice evening walk with an abundance of bars and shops. The area is very safe for singles and families with young children. The buses run from a short distance outside the hotel with good access to other areas - Alcudia is a half hour journey and is well worth a visit, a beautiful clean little town.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and am hoping to go back there which is something I rarely do.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear of the hotel have a pleasant sea view and are very quiet.

Right, I will be keeping this brief... overall we had a good holiday and it is right what they say, it is what you make it!

Good points;

The hotel and room was clean
Staff were nice and polite
Drinks were good
Free Ice Creams and lollies all day and night.
5 minutes from the beach, 10 minutes if your an oldie or slow walker.
Food was good all be it not much choice but I can not fault it, 'if you like chips, pizza, salad, pasta, ice cream, bread, fruit, salami and cheese you are quid's in!' They did offer more than this but every night this choice was always available.
You get free Wifi with your room for two devices.
TV had English channels
This is an ALL UK hotel so everyone there is from the UK only bar the staff.

Bad Points;

Beds were shockingly bad including the cot we had which was stapled together and taped.
The large lift (not the sweat box 4 man one) broke down more than regular while we were there.
Room was a throw back from the 60's.
Sun beds :/ They only have 400 sunbeds for a 500 room hotel?! Most staying (Although all are from the UK) were up at 6pm to put their towels out so on occasion you would struggle to get one.
Balcony door on room 420 does not lock.
Wifi works, but is no where near great.
Entertainment was not great week one, improved week two but not much available for smaller children in any way whatsoever. No real kids club. Water Polo, Darts, Swimming Race, Football and Water Aerobics 'which is hilarious '.
Apart from your 3 meals a day and the free ice creams there is nothing in the way of snacks other than cake on the bar in the afternoon and a few sandwiches on the night if you are quick enough to get one of the 20 they put out.

Top tip;

Free bar from 10am until 11.45pm 'top tip stock pile from 11pm onwards if you want a late one on them. Also champagne is free from the bar if you like bubbles.

Ask for two room cards and leave one in the room so the Aircon is on, HOWEVER the Aircon will not work if the balcony door is open.

There is a supermarket over the road if you need any bits, it isn't expensive and next door the have a CAFE!! Happy days so when you need a bit of extra food pop to the supermakado! lol

Room Tip: Definitely book floor 5 upwards as their rooms have been re-done. Ours looked like something out of...

Stayed at this hotel with my family, we had two rooms and both were good for us. Honestly the highlight of our holiday was kirstie and kara who were our entertainers my kids absolutely fel in love with kirstie and were so sad when she fel ill, the evening entertainment wasn't as good as we had to sit inside with no air-conditioning but mini disco every night was fantastic!

The food was pretty basic, but then being a 3 star hotel we weren't expecting anything amazing, however we always found something to eat, my mother enjoyed her salads whereas the kids enjoyed their pizza, chips and pastas.
The issue we had around the pool was getting sunbeds as they were being taken by 6am most mornings, which we didnt agree with as the sign stated this wasn't allowed, but nothing was done about it!
The drinks were great as were the staff behind the bar, apart from Ruben who wasn't a very friendly face, also around the bar there was free ice creams all day everyday with cornetto's, magnums, ice cream sandwiches etc which was a good extra!
we enjoyed our holiday and are shocked at the bad comments left previously! Would definitely return

Room Tip: Try to have a room on the higher two floors

I've just had a fortnight here with my partner and my 2 year old son. The room we had overlooked pool and offered everything we needed. The food was lovely with something for all ages.
The beach is literally 5 mins walk and is beautiful.
The entertainment team were brilliant with the limited resources they had (bent arrows for archery for example). the entertainer kara has great banter at the adult activities and the entertainer kirstie is absolutely amazing with the kids she goes out of her way to know them from their first day. She made my Harveys holiday, he was shy at first but she brought him right out of his shell, he absolutely loved her, so with him happy I was extremely happy. she is brilliant at her job and takes so much pride in her work, cannot speak highly enough of her
So overall its an extremely enjoyable family holiday I wud defo recommend
