After having a rough time with illness my husband and i needed a holiday to relax us. the Alicia was the perfect place, nothing was too much trouble and all the staff were so happy that it rubbed off, i can honestly say i have never been anywhere that made me feel like that, and so quickly too. it was such a clean hotel and i am fussy, the food was good and the rooms great. the view from the balcony was amazing every morning, the sunrise perfect! cala bona has just the right amount of activity, and everywhere people were welcoming. we hired a two person bike, not as easy as it looked but good fun! would heartily recommend majorca and the Alicia.

Room Tip: definitely have a sea view the mornings get the sun and the afternoons are cooler on that side

We enjoyed our holiday here due to the location as we love Cala Bona! We have stayed at Bonaire many times but as the kids are older we went for Alicia as this was a Platinum hotel when we stayed last summer. We did not feel that the hotel was good enough for Platinum and for the money we paid as a result of this rating. It is a little tired and needs some upgrading in the bedrooms and poolside. There is limited poolside room and the pool could be bigger for the size of the hotel. Food was OK, not stunning and a bit repetitive but that is normal in hotels like this. The night in the a la carte restaurant was very nice, we would have liked more of that.
Chris is amazing with daytime and evening entertainment! He works really hard and holds everything together from sports to quizzes to singing, he is excellent!
Sorry for the late review, we stayed last summer and it is just as well I didn't review it when I was angry about the Platinum rating compared to other Platinum hotels we have stayed in! Glad to see Thomson have done the decent thing and downgraded it to something more like what it actually is!

Room Tip: We were in a room on the top floor on the right hand side looking towards Cala Millor and had great views across the bay! The rooms are a little tired with carpets and blue furniture but were comfortable enough. Air conditioning was awful in this room but much better in the room next door where our teenagers stayed.

We spent a week at the Alicia in April, the hotel, service, rooms and entertainment were all brilliant, the restaurant offers a good variety of food which is replenished very quickly. Its location is very good positioned between Cala Bona Harbour and the long stretch of Cala Millor so ideal for visiting both. If you visit this hotel it is well worth paying the extra for a sea view room the sunrise was fantastic!

Room Tip: The 1st floors has suites with very large balconies.

My wife and I visited the Alicia Hotel in Cala Bona from 20th to 27th April 2013. Unfortunately the weather was for the most part dull, with some rain and some very high winds. However we were able to explore the resort and make an enjoyable visit to Palma, which is well worth seeing. The resort is flat, so well suited to people with limited mobility. It is a short walk to Cala Millor which has an excellent range of shops and restaurants/cafes.
During our stay, we made two visits to the superb Lemongrass Thai restaurant in the harbour area and daily lunchtime visits to the friendly Stanley's Tearooms (turn left out of the main hotel entrance). I would also recommend the minimart (just beyond Stanley's), run by Pedro and Eileen, who will make you a multi-filling roll for 1.70 euros, with a choice of soft or crusty roll!
The Alicia is undoubtedly a very good hotel in many ways, especially for a 3* - but it is largely geared to the older client. My wife is 60 and I am 64, and I am sure that we were the youngest there! Our room was on the third floor with lovely sea views. The room was reasonably sized, decorated in a pale, nautical blue. The bathroom was small, but the power shower very efficient. The hard-wired hairdryer in the bathroom was excellent. We paid 2 euros a day for use of a room safe, and 5 euros for the TV remote! I found that the bed was too firm for my liking and surprisingly low for a hotel catering for older guests!
As others have said, the hotel is spotlessly clean, has an excellent staff and personal service (staff remember returning guests' names!), is in a superb position and provides a fabulous breakfast, with something for all tastes. The pool area is lovely, with plenty of sunbeds.
On the downside, a real weakness for me was the scrum to get into the restaurant at 7pm! One or two other guests we spoke to felt that this needs addressing. The position of the restaurant entrance is not conducive to orderly queuing! Many guests seemed obsessed with ensuring that they sat at the same table (especially by windows) and afterwards rushed off to get their favourite table in the bar for the entertainment! I am not sure what could be done to improve the situation, but I felt that this aspect in particular compromised the experience. Dinner itself was well cooked, with a good variety, if not particularly inspiring, perhaps geared to older British guest. (Spanish omelette was the only local dish I could find.) Desserts were always very good, however, with four types of ice-cream/sorbet. A bottle of good quality Tempranillo was 6.60 euros - very good value.
Evening entertainment was very good on our first night (Il Duo), but slipped a little after that. We did not take part in any of the daytime activities, but there appeared to many and varied. The line dancing was always well attended!
Bar prices are very reasonable indeed, and the evening bar waiter was outstanding.
Many people return year after year (one lady was presented with a bouquet, cake etc for visiting 50 times!!), so the hotel clearly appeals to a large number of people, and Cala Bona is a lovely, peaceful resort.

Would I return to Cala Bona? Yes (my wife has insisted), but as there are many interesting restaurants in the resort (and in Cala Millor), we intend to try B & B in another hotel next time.

Room Tip: A sea view on a high floor will provide fabulous views.

We are both aged 65. and travelled with Thomsons. Coach transfer take just under 1 hour with the Alicia being first drop before the Cala Bona Hotel. Check in super smooth, recommend one of you takes passports to the desk whilst the other sorts out the luggage. Safe, tv remote and pool towels available with deposit, safe is chargable. Mini fridge can also be hired.
Recommend you complete the computerised questionnaire towards the end of your holiday as I suspect that you get room choice preference should you return. Room sizes not generous but perfectly adequate but bathrook is a bit on the small size, best shower I have had in ages. Shampoo/shower gel and liquid soap dispenser supplied as is shower cap and tissues. Hard wired hairdryer. Room 523 had two single beds pushed together don't know about other rooms. Sheets were not changed the whole week. Good size balcony with table and 2 chairs plus a clothes airer (take pegs). Sea view rooms get sun until lunchtime only, Pool view room get sun in the afternoon. No kettle provided so suggest you take your own Everywhere is spotless as before. Food is good and varied the carvery beef being the most tender ever. The best desserts do seem to run out so get yours early. Drinks can be paid for on exit from the restuarant or paid on room card if you have made arrangements, Prices quite reasonable. Varied programme of activities during the daytime and entertainment varying in professionalism during the evening. The Anamation Team is Chris Jay who likes people to join in but isn't in your face. He is a real asset to the hotel and imbues a really friendly atmosphere. Solarium deck is slippery particularly when wet but is a lovely place to brush up on the tan There are ample sunbeds to go round with umbrellas. It is an interesting resort with nice flat walks just 10 minute stroll to the magnificent sandy beach of Calla Millor. Calla Bona harbour is also a nice place. We did not use cafes or restuarants so cannot comment. Would we return again definitely.

Room Tip: high level room for nice views
