Just returned from another holiday at the Alicia and could not fault the hotel in any way whatsoever. I would say its well worthy of its 4 stars and cannot understand why its undergoing a complete re-furbish at the end of the year as its fine as it is. Nothings too much trouble for the staff - the "special" meal in the A-La-Carte restaurant was wonderful, the standard of hygiene is faultless and location superb. All in all - a lovely holiday and we will return. We are not in our dotage either - would agree that the hotel is more suited to older guests but this is not an 18 - 30 resort.
Would also just like to mention "The Pub" - turn left outside the hotel and its on the other side of the road. Its run by Dave And Liz - formally from Yates - they work extremely hard, quizzes, bingo, few games etc and drinks very reasonably priced. Well worth going in for good company and entertainment.

Room Tip: All the sea view rooms are lovely

Returned a few days ago from a two week stay at the Alicia with my sister. Glad we were influenced by the majority of reviewers and not the minority of moaners. One of the best hotels we've stayed in - comfortable, spotlessly clean and with the friendliest of staff, especially Maria on reception and Manuel in the dining room.Previous reviewer thinks Sergio highlights lack of staff in dining room - to me, he shows a manager who is willing to get stuck in with his staff. The food was good and quite varied - specially enjoyed breakfast. The location is wonderful, set as it is between the harbour area and Cala Millor, and the sunrise is beautiful from the sea view rooms. No afternoon sun on the balconies in these rooms but that proved a godsend after a hot day. As a previous reviewer said, the other guests all seemed friendly. Can't wait to join the legions of returning guests.

Although they have put 4 stars outside (ready for next year they say) this is a nice 3 STAR hotel but not any better.
The staff are all very friendly and helpful apart from Paco behind the bar looks like he has chewed a wasp and customers are a nuisance.
The food is only of 3star standard and repetitive, Sergio the restaurant manager is always clearing tables, getting more food taking money and anything else that needs to be done but this only highlights the lack of sufficient staff in the dining room.
The bathrooms in the rooms are so small I feel sorry for anyone slightly overweight as the toilets are squeezed in at the end of the sink,(I have the bruises on my elbow to prove it).
The `entertainment` is typical 3rd rate acts and of course bingo every night and quizzes every afternoon.
I do not understand why there is no direct access to the promenade as other hotel that overlook it and the sea all have there was a wooden gate but it had been nailed closed.
This hotel has a lot of detail to sort out if it wants to become a quality four star hotel

Room Tip: always have a sea view room

We have returned from a 10 night holiday at the Alicia and can honestly say that it was one of the best holidays we have enjoyed for a long time. Having thought through all the elements of our stay at the Alicia, we cannot fault anything other than the freezing temperature of the water in the outdoor pool, it would have been nice to have enjoyed a dip when the sun was at it's hottest. Other than that everything that others have commented on we concur with, spotless, terrific staff, (special mentions to Maria on reception, Sergio in the restaurant and Chris on entertainment duty), the excellent sea views, plenty of sun beds and umbrellas, the food was great with plenty of choice and always well cooked, location was excellent, as mentioned by some others Stanley's Tea Rooms nearby was great for that "proper pot of tea" that some folks like from time to time ( always busy there so not just us ), We found the other guests, many of whom have been coming regularly over a number of years, to be very friendly ( unlike some hotels we have visited in the past where regulars are very cool towards first timers ). Would we return ? - absolutely, can't wait to see what the refurbishment delivers. All in all, excellent

Room Tip: We recommend a sea view room

Just spent a week at the Alicia, and although we had a had a lovely holiday we were not as sold on the hotel as other reviewers have been. First the positives-the staff are the true strength of this hotel- they work tirelessly to make sure the guests have a good time. We were particularly impressed with Sergio the head waiter, who treats every guest like family and also does anything that needs to be done, including clearing tables and fetching wine glasses. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the rooms are comfortable and there is no shortage of sunbeds. In the buffet restaurant all the food was very good with plenty of choice, and there is a beautiful smaller restaurant with waiter service where guests are invited to dine once during their stay. However the food wasn't up to the standard of the main dining room and we felt that many guests chose not to eat there because of the lack of choice. Only 12 people dined the night we ate there which seemed a terrible waste of facilities. We were impressed that even though we arrived at 1am there was a plate of cold food in the dining room if we were hungry. However there are less positive aspects. On our arrival there were so many mobility scooters at the bottom of the stairs it looked like they were lining up for a race! In fact the majority of the guests were old and infirm.Although everyone was very friendly, obviously the hotel caters for its regular guests and some of these people had been back more than 10 times. The entertainment suited them but we felt was very poor, just a bingo game each night and collection of tribute acts, singers and a quiz during our stay - we are not young but many of the songs sung were recorded some time before we were born! sitting in the bar and watching the shows made you feel like you were in "God's waiting room". So although we had a good week this isn't a hotel for the young.

This is our 3rd year at the Alicia and when we arrived felt as though we were one of the family. The staff are ultra professional, there is a wide choice of food catering for all. The hotel is always clean and tidy and there is always someone on hand to help with any queries/concerns you may have. Although not widely advertised as a kids destination , Chris the entertainer holds plenty of fun games and competitions ( for both kids & adults) .not suitable if you want all inclusive .During the winter months the hotel will be going through a major refurb lifting it to a platinum grade.

Room Tip: Sea facing are bigger
