We spent a brilliant week at this hotel. The seaviews from our fourth floor rooms were stunning. All the staff were really friendly and helpful and Chris, the one man entertainment team, worked relentlessly to keep everyone happy and took the time to say hello to all the guests. The rooms were spotless and you could always get a sunbed although the prime spots with sunshades went very quickly. There's an outside jacuzzi in the Solarium area overlooking the pool. Lovely and relaxing in the scorching heat but we only found it on our last day. Guests also get an invite to the El Mar restaurant at the hotel. This overlooks the sea and it was nice to get waiter service for an evening instead of the buffet style main restaurant. Lots of choice - I particularly liked the breakfasts with pancakes and omelettes made to order.
A large number of guests were senior citizens and I thought my two teenagers aged 15 and 18 would be bored to death but fortunately they met up with three others. Cala Bona is indeed more geared up for the older generation with very little going on after 11pm even in July. Best professional act at hotel was a tribute act 'Want you Back' who put on a fantastic Take That Show. Not sure all the audience felt the same - they were expecting a Rod Stewart tribute but he was ill. Perhaps Take That were too modern for most of them!
All in all we had a really great chill out week - wish we could have stayed for another week.

I had previously travelled to the Alicia in 1993 with my family and decided to take my Mum this year. I enjoyed the hotel when I visited previously but it was even better this time.

We had a sea view room which was excellent. The bedroom and bathroom are not huge but we managed. There were new modern chairs and a table on the balcony, not the usual white plastic stuff that you get in some hotels! The rooms did get quite hot during the night, in spite of having the air con on the lowest temperature, although it was very hot during our stay. Small TV with many english channels, BBC1, ITV2, CBeebies etc. There was a large safe in the room which you have to pay 2 euros each day to use.

They have a new decking area over the restaurant which is a real sun trap and there is a jacuzzi up there too. The sunbeds and parasols appeared to be brand new and it was a a relaxing break to spend a few hours up there.

The reception staff are excellent, very polite and helpful. The lounge areas are pleasant and modern and seem to have been refurbished recently. The hotel is spotless, you cannot fault the cleanliness.

Evening entertainment takes place outside which consists of mini disco, bingo and then a professional act, some were better than others. We particularly liked the singer Graham Powel and the Take That Tribute band. Chris the entertainer is a real star, he makes your stay extra special with his humour and he made an effort to involve everyone without being pushy.

We had no problems with the food, there is something for everyone although children may struggle as it seems to be catered mainly for adults. There was a carvery each night, other meat dishes, fish, a variety of vegetables, a vegetarian dish, chips, crisp and fresh salad items, soup, breads, cheese, deserts and we never went hungry. Breakfast was excellent and included english sausages as well as the usual breakfast items of eggs, tomatoes, hash browns, mushrooms, bread, cereal, fruit, juices etc.

We went to the Spa run by Eileen and Pedro every day for water and ice creams, turn left out of the hotel. They were both very friendly and we enjoyed chatting to them both.

We also went to the London Inn a few nights and they had some excellent acts. We also received a warm welcome from Dave and all the staff.

Last by no means least, the Thompsons rep Tobias (Toby) is a credit to Thompsons. We have been on lots of holidays and without doubt he is the most helpful, friendliest rep we have ever met. He is knowledge and really enjoyed his job. One day he walked round the pool chatting to guests and checking that the guests were okay. Everyone loved him and he really did go the extra mile to make all the guests happy.

Hotel was very clean, all staff very friendly and with good english. Breakfast was very good, but evening meal could have been more varied. There was very little food suitable for small children if they were picky eaters. Location of hotel was brilliant - right on sea-front. We arrived 1st July and the hotel did have a lot of older people staying - my daughter thought it was a saga holiday but as the week went on, younger families were arriving. Would use hotel again but maybe later on in July/August. Must visit Julie's for home-made sandwiches and ice-creams, also The Waterfront for home-made pies, puddings and Sunday lunch. Would not recommend resort for hen week-ends etc, as not enough going on but lovely for couples and families.

my wife and I stayed at the Alicia 17th.June-1st July,2010 and it was a fantastic holiday. The hotel is in a superb location with fantastic views from the sea view rooms, the sunrises were magnificent. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated although a little small. The staff were friendly and polite, and the food was excellent with a large choice of dishes at both breakfast and dinner. The complimentary meal in the a la carte restauraunt was excellent.Only a short walk to Cala Bona harbour which was buzzing in the evening with street entertainers. Will definitely return next year.We met people who have been returning for the past 11 years.

Just got back from the Alicia - wonderful. The food was lovely & everywhere was spotless. We were on the 2nd floor & left the patio window wide open of a night - lovely to hear the sea. I cannot comment on any of the facilities other than the dining room & the bar as we prefer to go the the beach during the day & the local bars of an evening. The staff were all lovely and very helpful.. Would certainly go back. Make sure you go to the Donkey's Rest & Smithy's Bar.
