“Great stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2013 via mobile

Lovely place for the family and nice location. Only issue was lack of storage for food in the self catering apartment. Room was fantastic otherwise. Food was great and entertainment for kids was brilliant. Would go back and have recommended to lots of people who have loved it as well.

Stayed here in Oct 12 with my husband and 11 month old boy. Apartments were very clean, modern and well decorated with flatscreen tv and numerous English tv channels (inc Cbeebies)! Hired a cot & high chair which were spotless.

The complex seemed spacious and relaxed with plenty of room around the pools, although it was late in the season and not full. Children's pool has slides and chutes and is partially roofed-brilliant for keeping sun off the little ones. Used the crèche once which seemed fine, there's a tiny soft play area for toddlers and daily visits by the Thomson the dog mascot. Music/bingo/quizzes by the main pool daily but it wasn't intrusive or too noisy.

Stayed self-catering and only ate in the hotel snack bar once, free wifi in the hotel lobby & €3 each for washer/dryer in the launderette.

Cala bona is quite far from a decent beach but the whole seafront is pedestrianised and it is a nice walk down to cala millor, seafront is open to bikes which can be hired from lots of places inc 2, 3 and 4 seater bikes.

Nice restaurants in cala bona, lots of places to eat overlooking the harbour.

Would stay here again, especially with children.

This was our second time we have stayed at this hotel and in no way could we find fault, the staff are well manered and polite ,the choice of food in the restuarant was varied and catered for all taste , the rooms were clean and although were only there for a week the maids came in three times and changed towels and cleaned.
The evening entertainment was really good and really catered for the children, infact there was entertainment all thru the day round the pool and on stage, we booked thru thompson and we feel we couldn't have had a better holiday , the reps were excellent .
Overall we had an excellent holiday and would recommend this to any family.

Room Tip: if you want a quiet room ask for block 2 at the back , like we did , otherwise if you want an early...

We arrived at lunchtime after an 11 hour journey with a 1 year old to find our room was not available until 7pm as a late check out had been granted. A discount of 50 euros off our next Thomson holiday was offered. The hotel is excellent but Thomson apparently book the whole hotel at certain times of the year. If you are booking and have small children I strongly advise you email the hotel to make sure they are aware of your arrival time. This, I suspect is not a problem for customers who book a package holiday. We booked the hotel only as the flight times with the package were not suitable and as 'the hotel did not know when we were arriving they did not allocate the rooms correctly' to quote Thomson staff. Poor excuse but I didn't book with the hotel I booked with Thomson. A complaint is being drafted but I suspect a standard letter reply and another offer of a discount voucher.

Room Tip: Email in advance to confirm your room will not be double booked!!

We have just returned from our second stay at the Bonaire 14th June-28th June, and I can definitely say we will be back for a third visit. The rooms had been upgraded allthough they were not all that bad on our first visit,
The hotel staff were first class, always helpful and greeted you with a smile. most of the staff even recognised us from our first visit two years ago. The hotel staff and Thomson reps arranged for a birthday cake to be put in our fridge on the day of my son Owens birthday. Everyone of the Thomson reps were brilliant, day or night always took time out to speak to you and knew Georgia and Owens name, there energy is second to none, you would see them finishing the night off with the kids then back first thing to start the days games off with a bang. They kept you entertained come rain or shine.
We stayed self-catering as we like to eat out each night and watch the world pass by, if you want a value for money meal try the Rope and Anchor, the food was great and the Sunday roast was excellent, good home cooking with sunshine. The staff again was excellent always service with a smile and willing to adapt the menu on how you want your meal and always with a smile. They also recognised us

Our best holiday by far, see you in two years Bonaire and Cala Bona, please do not change a thing, from Kev, Amanda, Georgia and Owen xxx

Room Tip: Front pool view rooms if you are nosey ,back rooms if you like the quieter life

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2013

Arrived on 18th June for 11 night stay, weather bit cool for time of year, but hotel was very good overall.

We are a family with 2 small children, would definately recommend it for similiar party, would not recommend for couples or singles though due to it being a 'family resort'.

Plus points include:

• excellent and friendly service by hotel staff.
• splash pool which was great fun and less crowded than main pool.
• good choice of food in all inclusive buffet, reasonable quality. Breakfast very good. Salad options good, fresh veg lacking though.
• most areas clean and tidy around hotel and grounds, saw very little litter. Toilets in good condition.
• Thomson kid facilities very good, kids club etc.
• room fairly modern and clean, shower excellent.
• all inclusive option was great value for money, house wines were good.
• staff were great with kids.
• manager constantly visible and checking standards in restaurants, reception etc, really good to see. Really nice guy also.

Areas for improvement:

• kids food options not very healthy, lack of fresh vegetables for both adults and kids. Had fresh broccoli one night but it was overcooked and soggy.

• Thomson kids club queues were annoying, had to wait 10-15 mins to sign kids in which ate into the 2 hour break. Can't pre book sessions in advance.
• room was in block 2 and it was noisy in week 2 when room above was occupied. Floors are hard so you hear every bump and chair scrape. Prepare to be woken up if you're a light sleeper!
• missed Thomson reps being on coaches, you lose that bit of extra value at the start and end of the holiday.
• wasn't too fussed on food at outside bars, quality very average.
• Italian restaurant had good menu and food, setting and service was great, but menu didn't change at all in the 11 nights we were there. More variety please!
• would like a tv in bedroom in 1 bed rooms as otherwise you are faced with either giving the main bedroom to the kids, or going to bed at same time as kids. DVD choice would be good also.
• kettle in apartment was rubbish and old fashioned, took ages to boil water.
• went to family resort with Thomson in 2012, found entertainment a bit repetitious. Didn't like commercialisation of Thomson the dog also, e.g using an hour long event dressed up as a VIP event for kids to basically showcase an album of his songs which were then for sale at the end!

Stayed at this hotel from 17th June for a week. We have been to Thomson family hotels in salou and Tenerife so had a fair idea of what to expect. On arrival check in was very quick and the staff were friendly. Porter took our cases to our room in block 4. the room was nice and clean and the kitchen area was just about adequate for our self catering needs ( we eat out ).
The beds were not as bad as people make out but the thick plastic matress protector was horrible and made a noise every time you move!
We only went to the main pool a couple of times, its nice but the entertainment is a bit loud and repetative, we tended to head for the excellent Pirate ship pool that my 2 year olds loved.
If you want a bit of peace from the main pool noise or the evening entertainment try and get a room a the back of block four or five.
we didnt use the kids club as the kids are only 2, we did you the creche and although the staff were friendly and it being a safe enviroment it didnt seem as organised as other Thompson ceches we have used. i dont think they did any of the advertised activities...if they did we didnt see the results of painting, gloop etc.
This hotel does attract the Im louder and have got more tattoos than you brigade but it not too much of a problems...think Brits abroad......
The location is excellent it takes 5 minutes maximum to the BIP supermarket and that was with two pushchairs.
Its a very nice walk along the front to Callor Millor where you will find a nice sandy beach

Room Tip: get a room in block four or five if you want a break from the noise
