Stayed here Sept 2013 with my wife and 10 mth son . Stayed all inclusive. Plenty of options for food, whether it was in the main restaurant, splash park pool side or at the main bar . The Italian restaurant is also worth a visit or two (we weren't limited as to how many times we went)
The splash park and soft play area were great for the little one. There were also a number of play areas for older children.
The indoor pool was a great alternative. Although it was a little slippery at the pool side.
I use the supervised gym a few times and there is probably enough equipment to tide over even the keenest of trainers
The walks along the front and harbour are ideal for putting baby to sleep . But take some bread to feed the fish in the harbour :) the kids will love it
As stated in so many of the reviews, the staff were first class, friendly and helpful.
The best endorsement I can give is that we have booked again this year !

Have been here so many times i cant even remember now many!! Tried to book up for next july 10 months in advance ...couldn't get in! says it all really doesnt it? 2013 went to florida and a caribbean cruise, which was amazing!! But still really looking forward to going back to cala bona even though we are not stopping in the bonaire this year, we will definately be popping in! Staff, cleanliness, the rooms...it goes on and on. We always go self catering so cant really comment on the food as it is lovely to have a stroll down to the harbour to eat on a evening. The high percentage of returning guests is also a testament to the place. Maybe the play area is getting a bit shabby i dont know as our boys are too old now, although they used a lot when they were younger! But after (approx) 9 visits to the place we have never had any safety issues... A lot of people who have children with disabilities go there too as it is fully inclusive with ramps literally everywhere...its just great! Our kids enjoyed florida last couple of years but cant wait to go back to cala bona!!

I came to Protur Bonaire in May 2013, myself, my partner and my daughter absolutely loved it! the only downside was the weather as if rained most days - so we've book again this year for July.

The food was good, i am normally a fussy eater but 95% of the things they served, the best was the lamb shanks.

cant fault anything wrong with the bar staff, they were lovely, very friendly - even came over to top our drinks up on the entertainment nights even though we didn't ask for them.

The rooms where very nice, spotless and cleaned on a daily basis - we was above the entertainment and I personally didn't find it loud considering where our room and my daughter whose 4, didn't have a problem either.

Cant wait to return on the 9th July - hoping I get a room near the entertainment :)

We stayed in August 2013 for 2 weeks half board. I have to say staff and hotel was fantastic as we stayed with our handicapped daughter. The only down side to the hotel is being situated in block 3 as it was the only disabled room we had a choice of! so we were right by the pool which in the day and at night is very loud.... The best blocks to book are 4 and 5! The decoration of the hotel is second to none... The food isn't the best in the restaurant not a fantastic choice ie you would get meat with no vegetables and vegetables with no meat on different days, that's probably because I'm British and we expect meat and veg go par and par together lol. The staff in the restaurant work so hard and are supper friendly especially one lovely Spanish girl can't remember her name but she worked so hard bless her and seemed to be on duty all the time too. I would go back again but perhaps try the self catering part more. The rooms had every mod-con you could think of and a hand blender which would be ideal if you had a baby in tow! Freeview tv with cbeebies!

Room Tip: Block 4 and 5 are the best blocks to drown out the noise of the pool area!

Went here at October half term with 2 children aged 6 years and 18 months. The location is quite good, a short walk down to the beach. There's a fantastic Italian restaurant in Cala Bona where they serve lovely mojitos! But most of the resort was shut when we went. The hotel itself is a good standard, rooms were really nice, although you only get a kitchenette which is really tiny for a family of 4. The beds were quite uncomfortable. The pools were great - a nice big one plus a splash pool for children - BUT they were cold. The welcome meeting was a most bizarre experience and not one I'd wish to repeat - the Thomson reps burst into a dance routine. One of them was talking into the microphone for ages and honestly I didn't understand a word of what she said. So that was an hour of our holiday wasted. A couple of the reps were clearly talented and did a fantastic job, but others were less than mediocre and also some of them were annoying. The evening entertainment was of a mixed standard - unfortunately we had to sit through it to satisfy our 6 year old. The kids clubs were good, although when we asked about the advertised chocolate party they said "we're not doing it this week". Fine, but why advertise it then? We went self catering but tried the restaurant a couple of times - thought it was very nice. Good range of choice.
All in all it was a good holiday but have had better and probably wouldn't choose to return.

Went here with my husband and 2 kids (age 9 & 12) on the 4th July for 2 weeks. The stand out thing are the reps, who can only be described as 'dedicated'. Their energy amazed us all every day. From the moment they start at 11ish until late that evening, they are endlessly entertaining the kids with music, dancing and games. The kids loved the entertainment but as an adult, i did find the constant loud music and shouting down the microphone a bit much at times. While its great having the kids entertained, it wasn't easy to settle into a book as there was too much distraction. There is a toddler area with a shallow pool at the back of the apartments which are probably a lot quieter but then there was nothing there for the older kids. Great credit must go to Nathan, Lottie & Kayla who made the kids holiday even better. A credit to Thompson holidays. I must also mention Emma (Em & Em) who is a sweetheart and so friendly and helpful.

The downside I have to point out is the fact that you have to be at poolside by 7.30 am to secure the sun-loungers for the day. At 8.00 am every morning, there is a rush to put towels down on them, with many not been used until after lunch, lying there empty but held for people. It would be comical if it hadn't been so tiring each morning. It did mean there wasn't much of a lie-in on the days you planned on staying poolside. This problem should really be looked into. Even if it meant paying a refundable deposit for numbered loungers, it would make all the difference.

There is a poolside bar that serves snacks and drinks, which can be very slow at lunchtimes but if you go self catering, it may be the best option as apartments are very basic with just a 2 ring hob and very little press space.

Very clean resort with very friendly staff. Miguel, the bar manager was so professional and very nice to both young & younger!. While we enjoyed the holiday, I don't think we'll be planning to return as the kids were outgrowing the activities and I quite fancy something a bit more relaxed next year. If you have a family of younger children and don't mind the daily mayhem, then this is definitely the place for you.

Room Tip: A top floor as the rooms aren't very soundproofed and the chairs been dragged across the floor a...
