Just returned from this hotel today, my family have been here twice before, this time 8 of us went, the facilities were very clean, the food was fabulous, the apartments very specious, the kids club was amazing, a special mention to James, Katie and Natalie for entertaining us and the kids every night, also Oskar and Miguel for working so hard, we will definitely be returning x

Came here with my husband on a last minute get away. Although this is primarily a family resort, we had a great time!!! Was nice and quiet this time of year which was perfect! We were self catering and because it was our anniversary, we had a bottle of champaign waiting for us in our fridge! The rooms are clean and a lot better then expected. If there was one thing missing, I would definitely suggest a spa as there is more then enough room and I'm sure a lot of parents would appreciate the opportunity for a little relaxation while the kids are in the kids club. Other then that absolutely brilliant

We’re fresh back from a wonderful week in Cala Bona at the superb Bonaire Hotel. I’m not really sure my review can do this hotel justice because if you want a family friendly hotel in a beautiful location then this will suit perfectly.
Firstly, the only negative I can think of is that the transfer from Palma airport is knocking on for an hour.

We arrived the hotel and were promptly checked in and given our all-inclusive wrist bands (I’d strongly recommend the all inclusive if you can) then directed to our room. We were located in block 5 which meant we had a balcony overlooking the park and soft-play area, so a very good view. The room was spotlessly clean with modern fixtures and fittings, a double bed, a cot, a flat-screen TV (with plenty of UK channels!), two sofa’s, a dining table and stocked kitchen for those self-catering. Really there was absolutely nothing in the room we could complain about.

The hotel has Wi-Fi throughout the resort, so pretty much anywhere on the hotel you’ll have Internet. This is completely free which is quite uncommon nowadays and incredibly handy for keeping in touch back home. Upon check-in you’ll be given a user ID and password for the Wi-Fi which will work for the duration of your stay. Very slick.

Dotted around the hotel are small ride-on cars that parents can freely use to navigate children around the hotel. This are just one of a number of nice parent-friendly touches that make a difference and show the hotel really does have children at heart. Our daughter loved whizzing around in the cars and driving up to the terrapin pool (did I mention there’s a terrapin pool with about 5 terrapins in for guests to enjoy?). There’s two big slides/climbing frames which our daughter absolutely loved and a small soft-play room for some indoor fun. The main pool is lovely – spotlessly clean and a good size, there’s a small paddling pool but the killer feature for us was the splash pool. With a life-size pirate ship containing three water slides and 5 further water slides we spent countless hours in here. Its only about 8-10 inches deep so suitable for children of all ages. If you have children I’m confident that this will be the centre of your holiday. Luckily there’s a pool bar there serving snacks, drinks and ice-creams.

Sun beds are plentiful (probably 3-to-1 beds to people!) and there’s plenty of space away from the pool on the gardens if the water isn’t your thing. The whole complex is immaculately maintained – grass constantly cut and the hotel continually cleaned.

The staff in the hotel are absolutely superb. From the efficient reception and cleaning staff to the incredibly hard working and chirpy bar/restaurant staff. Nothing is too much trouble and nothing takes any time to be done or forgotten. On the day we arrived it was raining heavily, so the bar staff were taking order for food at the pool side bar from within the main bar, running out in the rain and getting the meals for guests, getting soaked in the process. Really nothing is too much trouble.
There was also an abundance of Thomson staff on site. Whether its pool side entertaining, face-painting or the evening shows, Thomson staff are everywhere which is really reassuring. Also, continuing the staff theme, the hotel has two on-site lifeguards ensuring everyone’s safety. This is quite rare in my experience but another welcome addition.

Location wise the hotel is excellent. A 2 minute walk to the sea front from the hotel and you’re on the lovely Calor Bona promenade. This stretches across the seafront to the harbout which is littered with bars and café’s and has a lovely relaxed vibe to chill in the evening. There’s shops and a nice play area for kids with trampolines, bouncy castle and rides etc. Keep on the path and you’ll eventually hit Calor Minor. How will you know when you’ve arrived?

WHEN THERE’S FISH ON THE FLOOR, YOUR IN CALOR MINOR; WHEN THE FISH ARE AGONNER YOU’RE IN CALA BONA!

As per the above rhyme, when you arrive in Calor Minor, the floor is ingrained with fish imprints – you’ll know it once you’ve arrived. This is about a 30min stroll across the sea front, although browsing shops it will probably take you longer. The beach in Calor Minor is much nicer than Cala Bona and the town is bigger which more shops and things to do. We went in a couple of times and had a lovely time, but I do feel Cala Bona is more family focused and relaxed.

All in all we had a wonderful time at a tremendous hotel. There’s little more we could ask for

Room Tip: There's no 'sea view' here so dont pay for one.

5 stars... We went for 10 days self catering. Can't fault a thing. The apartment was amazing. The staff at the kids club were amazing. The bar staff were great with a special mention to Dani. Make sure you get out and see cala bona/cala millor absolutely stunning. A special mention must go to kung fu Katie and James Bond for making us feel so welcome. Can't wait to come back next year.

Stayed at Bonaire from 8th-19th April this year. Excellent hotel- great accommodation, food and staff. Special mention to Kung Fu Katy, Natatouille, Coco and Emma who worked their socks off entertaining the kids (and adults). Will miss our 1o'clock quiz!!! Weather was surprisingly good for time of year. Would definitely return. Would advise All inclusive option as I think we would have spent a small fortune otherwise.

This place really is fantastic! Me and my partner have just returned from a week's holiday here. We were half board, the food was superb, so much choice. Salads, meat dishes, fish dishes, kids favourites. I had an omelette cooked for me every morning which were delicious! The puddings were really nice too. We also had a meal just located below our room at Rimini restaurant, which was also very good. The rooms are modern and very comfortable, equipped with everything you need, not that we did much cooking. The poolside bar served very reasonably priced food if you need a snack at lunch and aren't all inclusive. We don't have any kids but it was very family friendly with Thomson reps on hand entertaining the kids. They were always very enthusiastic with big smiles on their faces and very energetic! My partner Kevin's played water polo a couple of times and had great fun. The pool was lovely to dip into when the weather was hot, cold but you soon got used to it! Cala Bona itself is very nice, some lovely bars, one right on the front overlooking the sea, which was very relaxing, you can't miss it. We took a trip on sea odessey along the coast. We also visited Cala Millor just about a half an hour stroll down the front, there's a little red train that can take you from Cala Bona just across the road from the hotel down to Cala Millor, it was I think about 2.50 return. A nice way to travel when on hols! We had a great time and will definitely return one day!
