“Brilliant Hotel”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Arrived on 22nd June 2014 late at night. There was a salad and bottled water in the fridge which was much appreciated . We had requested a room with disabled facilities and were not disappointed, the wheel in shower was excellent. The room was to the rear of the hotel overlooking the garden area which was much quieter than the pool area. All areas are ramped so wheelchair access is not a problem. The food could not be faulted with a wide choice for breakfast and evening meal. The hotel is a kids dream and they are really catered for with the kids club and entertainment in the evening. All areas of the hotel are maintained to a really high standard and the grounds are immaculate. It is just a short stroll into Cala Bona which is ideal for wheelchair users as th area is really flat. Overall the hotel and its facilities could not be faulted, the Manager is present every day ensuring that the high standards are maintained. We will certainly be returning next year if possible.

I went with my husband and 1 year old for 11 nights. We chose the all inclusive option. There were many choices at breakfast lunch and dinner for both us and our son. The entertainment was great and all the reps were very helpful. You could always get a sun bed around the pool as you are not allowed to reserve them until 0745hrs and this was very strict. I really loved this holiday and would really look at going again.

Room Tip: away from night time activity block 4 overlooking splash pool

We have just come back from a visit to this hotel. The staff were all very friendly and very helpful. Check in was very fast and efficient. When we booked the hotel through Thomson we asked for a quiet room as we have a 5 year old child but when we got to our room we realised it was above the pool bar and entertainment stage! We went down to reception and were told they would move us the next morning to a quiet room as requested. They did stick to thier word and at 10am we got a call to say our room was ready. It was a lovely room and over looking the gardens. The room was immaculate and had everything you need in the kitchenette, and the beds were so comfortable.
The food was lovely and there was a good selection every mealtime. The kids club was fantastic and the kids club staff were wonderful with the kids and they had different theme nights a few times a week, which my Son really enjoyed. The entertainment staff did a kids show every night from 7.30pm then there was entertainment for the adults. The only one fault I have is that people reserve sun loungers by the pool, so by 9am most of them are taken which is very annoying especially as they leave thier towels thier and go off for breakfast etc. The grounds in the hotel were immaculate and there were always staff either gardening or cleaning. There were two pools, the one my Son loved had a pirates ship in it with slides coming off it and there were smaller slides for the younger kids. Would highly recommend this hotel for families.

Room Tip: Block 3 over looking the gardens is nice and quiet. We had room 3108 which was lovely and quiet.

We stayed at the Aparthotel Bonaire from 25th June to 2nd July 2014.

Overall impression – Excellent!

Apartments
Our priority this year was to have an apartment as we were taking our 4 month old daughter. This worked out perfectly as we had a microwave to sterilise (we took our own steriliser as we couldn't book one) and we pre-booked a cot. Sheets were provided for the cot so we just took her sleeping bag. The apartments were spacious enough for the 3 of us plus all the additional things which a baby requires ! The windows have the blackout lining which helped with the daytime naps and the apartment also had air con.
There is a TV with English channels and you just pay a deposit of 10 euros at reception for the remote – returnable when you leave.
There is an electronic safe available for which you pay for 19 euros. I think you only get 5 euros back as it is chargeable.

Food & Drink
The all important “how was the food” question......in one word “excellent”! We booked on an All Inclusive basis and didn't regret it.
Breakfast – the buffet was extensive, everything from cereal, fresh fruit, pastries to the full fry up, made to order omelettes and pancakes.
Poolside Lunch – daily there was a variety of grilled options, fish, burgers, pork etc along with salad, rolls and fruit.
Dinner – again, extensive buffet options as well as a Wok Chef (excellent!) where you could choose your own stir fry mix and they would cook it fresh for you. Sometimes there was a queue for this though so be prepared to wait. There was also a Grill Chef where again a variety of things could be chosen. Deserts were also available as well as selections of cheese and a chocolate fountain!
Drinks – local drinks were included and filtered water from a machine. Also, if you were staying on an AI basis, branded drinks were cheaper for you to buy. The bar list had an alternative price for IA guests.
Look out for Migel the waiter in the restaurant and Pepe in the poolside bar – both really friendly and chatty and who give great service!

Pool, Towels & Sunbeds
Towels can be hired from reception for a 15 euro deposit per towel, returnable when you give the towels back. You can also change the towels up to 3 times a week.
There are plenty of sun loungers around the pool, however, it seems to be the umbrellas that were more in demand. The hotel kindly asks that people do not reserve loungers before 7.45am and there was a member of staff walking around before that time asking people who were trying to reserve a bed to remove their towel until 7.45am. Whilst this seemed a little extreme it is quite a fair way to control the serious sunbed hoggers. If you aren't bothered about a parasol then you probably don't need to get up quite so early!

If you decide to sunbath next to Block 3 watch out for the sound system speaker....we realised on our first day that that was why those loungers were empty :-)

General Hotel Information
The apartments were cleaned nearly everyday to a very high standard.
Bins around the pool were constantly being emptied
There is an indoor soft play area for small children
There is an outdoor park area for the children
Great kids pool
Indoor pool for low season (not open whilst we were there)

Thomson's Reps
All brilliant! They made a real effort to get you involved. There was always things going on round the pool. A daily quiz for the adults as well as water polo and aqua aerobics along with Thomson the Dog walking around the pool saying hi to the kids. Lets not also forget the obligatory Thomson summer songs for the kids where they dance all the routines for them!

Out & About
If you decide you want to venture out of the resort you can walk to the promenade which is out of the hotel, cross over the road and go down the road slightly to the right. You can then walk all the way down to Cala Bona and Cala Millor (if you want to walk that far!). Lots of lovely bars, restaurants and shops to mooch around. There is also a small supermarket there which sells everything.

Overall we had a really good week and we will definitely be recommending it to friends.

Enjoy!

We had an excellent holiday at the Bonaire. We could not find one thing to fault. The kids club staff were first rate, going the extra mile to make sure the kids had a good time. The entertainments team again were first rate, every night was a good night and the productions put on by the team were excellent and entertained the kids and the adults. All the staff were really friendly and really helpful. We were self catering so cannot pass comment on the restaurant but I can most definitely the recommend the cheeses and onion toasties from the snack bar at the splash pool (nicer than the ones served down by the main pool as the onions were browned before going in the toastie). Everywhere was really clean and tidy and I repeat cannot find fault with anything. My son (aged 4) thought the pirate ship at the splash pool was amazing. Within hours of returning home he was asking to go back. The staff make the Bonaire that much more special and we would recommend this hotel to anybody with kids.

Room Tip: We had room 3105 and our son loved watching out for the staff going into kids club (block four) and...
