“Lovely Hotel for Children”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 September 2010

My husband, his parents and our 2 year old son went to this hotel and we had a nice time. The hotel & Thompson staff were excellent with our little one and very helpful and polite to us also. There is a very small soft play area, giant sandpit with toys and a "hard" play area with small slides and games which our son enjoyed. There is also a tennis/football area which is where our son spent most of his time playing football (when it was dry).
There are 2 pools one for adults with an area for small children and another pool designed for toddlers with a pirate ship and small slides.
The restaurant was big, clean and the food replennished regularly. I wish there had been a little more choice for my sons meals, he can be quite fussy so sandwhiches or bagettes would of been a nice option.
In the evening there was childrens entertainment from 8 to 9 which our son loved, as there was dancing and games with Thompson the dog. There was then adult entertainment but most of the children seemed to stay up very late so adults couldn't really relax by themselves even if they wanted too.
Cala Bona itself is lovely, a great little marina and only a 20 minutes walk along the promanade to get to the bigger beaches in Cala Millor.
We had wet weather the week in which we went and that made it very difficult to keep an active 2 year old entertained, as all of the activities are outdoors perhaps more indoor play ideas for kids if the weather is bad.
The creche and staff were lovely, we used it once but our little one didn't really enjoy it, more because he was the eldest of the 4 that were there and he had no one to play with.

This was our first family holiday and our first with thomson. We travelled with our 1 yr old daughter who absolutely loved it. On our arrival which was late in the evening there was food prepared for us in the fridge in our room which was a fantastic start. It's all the little things that make the difference with this hotel. Lots for our daughter to do including the wonderful splash park, soft play and chillout rooms. The staff, reps and other guests were very pleasant which added to the enjoyment of our holiday. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone of any age. We went all inclusive and were not disappointed at all with the food. We were a little worried on how our daughter would eat but we didn't need to have as she loved everything she had.

I shall keep it short as pretty much what everyone else has said is spot on.Even for myself and my wife going as a 40something yr old couple we found the hotel to be very good, though i would say that it being very quiet was down to the time of year, with regards to the lack of children and therefore the plentiful amount of sunbeds/space around the pool etc.

We went self catering with the intention of upgrading to AI once there, but after having done our usual first morning walk around the area and see the abundance of restaurants we decided we`d leave it a few days then do it.The restaurants around were of that good a quality we didn`t end up on the AI and found, that for 2 people of course, the difference between AI and SC was negligible so we stuck with what we had.Good places to eat were olivia`s and even better the restaurant next door to the left(apologies can`t remember the name) .

We have never returned to a hotel before as we like to move around europe but we both decided if we were stuck for somewhere to go again we would most definitely put this down in our top 3 places.

Quick nod to the room cleaners who were very good.

This was our first time to a Thomson Family Resort and now I am thinking how could I book another holiday without going to one!! We were my husband, myself, my 3 yr old and 1 yr old boys. The hotel was spotless, staff really helpful, rooms basic, but very clean and very well equipped - we went AI and very much enjoyed the food, as did our boys!

Our eldest son loved the kids club, which he went to most mornings, and we put our youngest into the creche once (it was brilliant and he loved it but he tended to need to sleep at the session times!). The reps are (mostly!) all fantastic, Exciting Emma, Rhiannabel, Haribo Hayley, to name the best but all work so hard in making you and your children' s stay fantastic.

If you have young children and are looking at this hotel you, and your kids especially, will not be disappointed! Also, if its your first time at a Thomson Resort, prepare yourself for the Thomson the Dog song - soooooooooo catchy!!!

We have just arrived back after 10 days at the Bonaire from the 9th to the 19th of sept and felt we needed to join trip advisor to let people know our thoughts on it.....Brilliant, we loved it, so much so we are hoping to change the holiday we have booked for next year so that we can go here again instead. The place itself is excellent, great staff throughout the complex, great pools, (never once struggled for a sunbed no matter what time we went to the pools) we mainly used the kiddie pool which was brilliant, a huge pirate ship domintates the pool with waterslides coming from from either end, 5 more slides in the pool that had a gentle slope into the water which was only a foot deep, the water was very cold though but that didnt stop our daughter from having fun, also it has a bucket that filled up slowly then tipped its contents onto any unsuspecting person in its visinity, like it nealy did me as i was taking a photo of my daughter. It was like a mini water park for kids. The other pool is huge and the main area for fun and games that the reps held every hour, bars at both pools with food being served from both. At night a full entertainment program was to be had, mainly aimed at the small kids but King Louie, Reannabell and the rest of the team did a brillaint job and keeping everyone entertained. The acts were what you would expect, nothing to write home about but entertaining none the less.
The hotel staff we found very friendly, always a smile and willing to help. We had a problem with a cupboard door in the kitchen and they sorted it within the hour, no manyana here :). We went self catering but used the restraunt quite a few times, at 12 euro each for an all you can eat buffet and didnt have to pay for the 2 year old was a bargain we thought, and might even be cheaper if you upgrade to all inclusive or half board when you get there. Eating out was no problem, plenty of places to eat, Smithies and Le Oliva have to get a mention, they are in the small harbour, great food and good with the kids.
The hotel was kept very clean and was well maintained, every day barring 2 days we had a maid that changed the towels and made the beds and generally tidied up. A small army of gardeners kept the grass areas well trimmed and rubbish free.
A soft play area, playground, spa and gym are also there to be used as you want.
The only thing i would say to watch out for is the lifts, they were a bit quick to close and found myself a few times jumping in and out quickly so be wary.
The area itself is quiet but a nice walk along the prom brings you to the busier cala millor. An excellent beach with a sea as warm as a bath, its also where you will find a KFC and a Burger King :)
On the whole we loved it and think its well worth is 4* status even though the rooms are quite basic but your only sleeping in them and for that they are fine, clean and well kept.
Also worth a mention is that clientel is a mainly british one as its a thomson only hotel. So you cant blame the Germans for putting any towels out on the sunbeds :)

We spent five wonderful days at the Protur Bonaire Aparthotel and we would recommend it to everybody, the staff is very friendly, the hotel is extremely clean, they have a good variety in food, we went for self catering but on arrival we paid a little bit extra upgrading for half board and it was really good, Our 2 year old had such a lot of fun in the Pool area for children, they have this Pirate Ship with slides, and our little one just loved it. At night theres a lot of entertainment for parents and children, theres a one hour baby party and we all enjoyed it. Later at night for the ones who dont have children theres other events and shows so everybody had fun.
The hotel is very close to a beach called Cala Bona and theres a promenade with restaurants and shops, so the hotel is well located. We love it and we would go back next summer, specially we recommend this hotel if you go in September.

Loved this place - it was in a great location - apartments felt like they were in their own world - they are spotlessly clean and the staff are all helpful and friendly. I travelled with my partner and my parents (we are late 20's and parents are late 50's) we all loved the apartments and the resort. We had no issues in getting sunbeds - there are plenty to go around and the pool didnt get busy till after 10am. The pool itself is amazing - very clean and a great size. There is regular maid service and the room towels were changed frequently. The apartments are in a quiet area but close to the restaurants and shops. The rooms are bigger than I imagined and I was pleased with the facilites. As I have no children I cannot comment on the childrens clubs however there always seemed to be lots of activites going on and the reps were great at getting people involved. This is the best apartments I have stayed in and would definitely return here in the future!!
