“Cala Bona”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2014

We flew from Norwich which in itself was a delight.... Living only 25mins from airport...Having never been to Mallorca before and wanting to fly from Norwich it was a last minute decision and I was guided by Tompson.....I asked for a quite resort...... Sadly the Floriana and the resort itself was not a quiet one....... Cala Bona is far too English for our liking, when we go abroad we like to find places that are typically of the nature of the country we are visiting...... Not one for English bars selling English breakfast!!!!! The resort itself we chose self catering as we wanted to expore and have different meals out......The appartment itself was ok...... but our biggest disappointment was the resort itself...... The grounds need to be kept generally cleaner....you see grounds men watering plants etc but the overalll grounds need more attention..... For example Things were spilt on the paths, stains that were only washed due to rain, but area's that approach the rooms which are undercover never got cleaned during our whole stay!!!!! Yuk!!! Paths should be swept!!! We saw a tissue deposited in a palm tree, it stayed there for the duration of our holiday, it could still be there!!! The entertainment was poor....I know Tompson is a German owned company, and clearly a lot of Germans favour the resort....therefore quite rightly the entertainment was geared for their pleasure, but it have to come and sit on a balcony after returning from our evening meal to have to listen to the repetative musis and entertainment....During the day as well.....They must change the CD occasionallY!!!!!!

We stayed at the Floriana on 4 July for 1 week, self catering. Rooms are comfortable and clean, but if you do happen to get a dodgy room, speak up!! The staff are very helpful.

Our first room location wasn't very nice at all, it was on the 4th floor away from the 'main site'. Plus, there were cockerels making noise 24/7. It didn't feel like a holiday at all but after speaking to reception they moved us to room a room on the 2nd floor in Block J which overlooked one of the main pools. Everyone was a lot happier and our finally holiday began!

As we were self catering we only used the kitchen for breakfast but I felt a bit lost without the use of a toaster or grill. We ate out every night as all the restaurants served fantatic food. There are lots of restaurants to choose from and I don't think you can go wrong.

As mentioned by others, the other guests were prominently German. This didn't cause a problem for with us as our children 8 and 15 just got on with it and enjoyed playing in the pool anyway but this could cause a problem if you are taking a lone child and depending on them meeting a playmate.

Overall we had a lovely relaxing break and it was well worth the price under £700.

Room Tip: Block J was good for us!

Stayed here from 1st July for two weeks. Very relaxing, great apartments and very helpful staff. Would recommend the Floriana to everyone if you want a quiet, relaxing holiday in comfortable, beautiful surroundings.

Room Tip: Block D was very good.

Just returned from an excellent 2 week Thomson self catering holiday at the Protur Floriana!
Travelled as a couple, we had a great time and could not fault it!

Arrived to very friendly, helpful, attentive reception staff. As there are several blocks from A – G, a porter took us in a buggy with our luggage to the block and even carried our suitcases up to the room.
The same friendly porter delivered a bottle of champagne and a balloon to our room for my birthday – nice touch Floriana staff – thanks!

We were in Block I with a view over the pool on 3rd floor. Very clean, spacious apartments. Maid service every day apart from Wednesday and Saturday. Bedding changed once a week but could have clean towels every day if needed. Kitchen consisted of 2 rings and a microwave but we never ate in as the food in Cala Bona was gorgeous! Try L’Oliva, Papparazzi and Alma Mia!

Nearest supermarket is about 5 minutes away on the way to Cala Bona port.

Several pools surrounding the different blocks.

There is a kids club and all staff seem to speak English and German fluently. There was evening entertainment for kids. All the music was in English too! Don’t listen to the reports! Tennis courts and football pitch. Yes, there are a lot of German holiday makers but them and their children are impeccably behaved. If you want all English go to Pontins!

We got out and about, went on a boat trip to Cala Rajada, the open top bus to Sa Coma and the Thomson Orange Blossom tour to Puerto Soller.

Apartment is in a lovely residential area about 5 minutes from Cala Bona port.
Tip – there is a cut through path which takes off a corner to Cala Bona. If you locate the kids club, facing it to the right, about 100 yards down from there is a tree'd area with a winding path, continue down the path and then straight on, gets you direct into Cala Bona.

Cala Millor is ajoined and you can easily stroll along the prom, stopping at the many shops and restaurants.

We stayed in the smaller Bahia Azul apartments over the road from here 4 years ago and liked both equally.

Since we last came, they seem to have built a new road, so journey time from the airport to resort takes about 45 minutes now.

I would like to thank all the staff who work hard behind the scenes, we had a great holiday and we will return!

Room Tip: If you have kids, the ground floor apartments lead straight onto the pool and grassed area around Bl...

we stayed at the Floriana for a week in June 2014 it was very hot over there and the air conditioning in the room didnt work for 2 days but other than that the room was clean and basic had what you need but you have to rent a fan if you need one the resort was lovely good entertainment not far from the town the grounds of the resort are lovely to walk around its very clean staff are friendly except one we didnt go all inclusive and got there at 7ish so we asked for dinner and the man didnt speak much english and was very rude because we couldnt understand him we had to go to reception and they wanted 20 euro each for a dinner so we went to a little cafe down the road and got a dinner for 4 of us for under 20 euro instead the food in the hotel didnt look good so thank god we didnt pay for that so other than the food and air conditioning its a lovely place most staff are friendly i would recommend the 'rope and anchor ' for dinner good irish/english food big servings and cheap definatly head to cala millor about 15 minutes walk lovely beach, hundreds of shops, burger king we had a great holiday :)

Room Tip: no wifi in the room but free wifi in reception entertainement finishes at 10 so all rooms are quiet...

We stayed at the Floriana Resort from 14th - 28th June 2014. It is a very clean and tidy resort with plenty of open space with some lovely shade on grassy areas with plenty of trees. It covers a large area and has four separate accommodation blocks with three swimming pools in separate areas, so plenty to choose from. It is a mainly German resort so don't expect to find many British families. We were self catering and having only a twin hob and microwave is not really enough. NO Grill or Oven. We did check out the meals on offer if you are on All inclusive, and what was there seemed to be of a high standard with loads to choose from. Drinks and ice cream were always available. Don't expect the cleaners to clean your apartment, ours was just a change of towels and sheets with bed made up 5 days a week. And it can get quite sandy if you do use the beach a lot. The cleaners also made a bit to much noise when dragging furniture around to clean empty accommodation. The noise echoed through the building. Doors being banged shut, This noise problem also affected us with revellers leaving the bar or returning late at night. We ended up using ear plugs. The beds we had were VERY Firm and took about a week to get used to. The family next to us had many of the same issues as us but also had a 2 year old child that was woken up far to many times.
We did however enjoy our holiday and would consider going back if we had a quieter apartment and softer bed.

Room Tip: We were in block E over the entrance, so could hear all the entertainment from out room. Which was n...
