“Wonderful Hotel”
Reviewed 25 June 2013

Just back from our third visit to this hotel. If you can afford it its worth paying for a sea view room as the view over the harbour are stunning. We had a superior room which had been finished to a very high standard. A wet room shower and memory foam mattresses on the beds which was luxury. The only downside was the inferior air conditioning. It was preset to between 23 and 25 degrees which is far too high. Those sea view rooms had the sun on them from sunrise till about 2pm and the air conditioning was just inadequate. It should have the capacity to turn right down to keep the rooms nice and cool.
The entertainment in this hotel is brilliant. Live bands and tribute acts of a very high standard. We hadn't been for a couple of years and the bar area has been well extended with new chairs and tables to accommodate more people which was great.
The food is good although the choice is limited. What there was though was fine.
This hotel does attract older people primarily and this was a bit of a problem at the pool. There were some families with small children and I heard a lot of older people constantly complaining about the noise the children were making. To me they were just enjoying themselves. I suggest those people go to a hotel which is adults only in future instead of spending all week moaning. If you have children don't be put off as the pool is great for kids and has a shallow paddling pool for them. It is after all a family hotel.
We booked direct with the hotel and they even sorted our transfers. Doing it this way means you can pick your room and you get a fridge and kettle etc included. They also run a loyalty scheme whereby you collect points which mean you can get free nights in the hotel.
I would highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely return at some point.

Room Tip: Sea view is worth the extra money. Noise is not an issue as the double glazing cuts out totally any...

This is a nice hotel. Friendly, helpful staff will do all they can for you. Location is right on the harbourfront with a lovey terrace and is in a prime position in the centre of Cala Bona. The rooms are clean and serviced every day. The best rooms overlook the harbour and they are also the most expensive. We had a room in the block behind the main building which was fine. The nice swimming pool is behind this block with plenty of beds and a bar. .......... Food was good, they are catering mainly for brits so theres always something you'd like, or try the show cooking, at this they have pancakes and omlettes in the morning, grilled fish and another meat at night.
Entertainment in the evenings is good and cheerfull, mainly copycat bands.
I enjoyed this holiday very much as its a nice resort. Will be back!!

Room Tip: You need to pay for a view. Its worth it

Had a great week at the Cala Bona Hotel in April
Very central and flat so easy walking for people with difficulty getting about.Weather was very good too.Thinking of booking again to go back next April as the price was very reasonable.

Room Tip: Good rooms are at the front but there is a charge .

If you want a peaceful and relaxing holiday with a comfortable and friendly hotel this could be a good choice. Situated in the fishing port of Cala Bona, this hotel originated in 1924. It has grown to a five building complex. The staff are friendly and very helpful and the room (we had a Superior room) was spacious with plenty of wardrobe space, good sized bathroom and balcony. Tea making facilities and a fridge are in the room. You need to supply your own tea or coffee and drinks to go in the fridge. The restaurant is large and serves buffet breakfast and dinner. Again the restaurant staff are friendly and helpful. Evening entertainment has various tribute acts - whilst we were there these included Tina Turner, El Divo, Jersey Boys. You can sit in the hotel or outside to enjoy. Ideal for couples without children. This was our second visit but many return year after year

Room Tip: For an extra cost it's worth having a Superior room either with or without a sea view.

Back for an earlier holiday this year, 23rd May thru 06th June.unfortunately the weather was not as good as usual
in our first week ,The fleeces were needed ,as were blankets given out by hotel. I felt sorry for the Bars with mainly outside seating. they did very little business as it was much too cold to sit outside. The second week was better, still not wall to wall sunshine,.We usually go in August, this was an extra trip, I am sure the outside bars must have found it very hard to keep going., hoping to return in August and fingers crossed they will have all managed to stay open. The Hotel as usual we were extremely satisfied with, think it must be very difficult to find a hotel where "ALL" members of staff will go out of their way to help make your holiday special. we love it at the CalaBona.. The Bingo while we were there, is now for Hotel guests only...

Hotel Cala Bona was exactly as most of the reviewers say and is generally a nice hotel. We had a superior sea view room in the bar building which had a great view. The restaurant food was average so we ate out a couple of times. The tables were far too close together, in fact most of them had no space between them at all. Not the best if you want to have a private conversation. The bar prices were very reasonable and the entertainment was good fun and everyone seemed to have a good time. It was difficult to get a seat though as some folk had claimed their seats very early in the evening by leaving drinks on the table with a beer mat on top!!
