I meant to post this ages ago , but better late than never.
We were very pleasantly surprised by this lovely small hotel when we stayed there for two weeks at Easter. Our room was spacious and well furnished; public areas like the bar, lounge and dining room were bright and tasteful; and the pool area and service, including the nice jazz CD playing in the background made it our destination of choice on those lazy warm days.

All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Miguel in the restaurant , and the food was extremely tasty and of excellent value. We were with Thomsons on a B&B basis but we ended up having dinner at the hotel most nights as it was as good or better than any of the nearby restaurants.
The only downside of our holiday , and the reason why I can't give the Gran Sol a 5 star rating is that the resort of Cala Bona is not that inspiring--small seaweedy beach, lots of cheap shops, and rather tired restaurants.

Thank goodness we were at the Gran Sol---they even sent us a CD of the poolside jazz after we returned home !

We stayed at the hotel a week in september and what can i say.. it was incredible. When you arrive at the hotel you are greeted with a beautiful drink and then you can go to your room. We booked a sea view with a balcony and it was beautiful, the room itself was spacious and extremely clean and the beds were very comfortable. The tv in the room has all the usual channels 1,2,3,4 sky sports news and some sports channels. The mini bar was full when we arrived but we asked for it to be emptied which was done with no bother. You have a safe in the wardrobe which you can hire for a small fee of €2 a day which is very good. The bathroom is very clean and spacious with a nice shower and bath and a big sink and toilet. The food is gorgeous, breakfast is cooked fresh for you bacon, eggs, omlettes you have tomatoes, mushrooms, sausages, allsorts really and they privide a cold buffet and also a range of cereals and bread to make toast etc. You also have a range of fresh juice and they make your coffee and tea fresh and bring it to your table. The tea time is the same its also a buffet and meats are cooked fresh for you and there is a range of potatoes, chips, rice etc it is all delicious. After tea if you have a sweet tooth there is a range of puddings like gateux, cheesecakes, jelly, icecream, trifle, small cakes there is loads to choose from you will definatly gain a few pounds. You can order wine for the table and if you do not drink it all it is put in the fridge until your tea the next night with your room number on which i thought was brilliant. The snack menu is also delicious which you have at lunch time which is full of gorgeous food from salads, toasties, baguettes, sandwiches to curry pizzas etc. The drinks and cocktails are very good and are charged at a good price. The beach is very nice you can hire the sun loungers for €3.50 each. There is a small pool outside which you can you use and there are sun loungers there. There is the roof terrace to which has a pool inside and a small gym, we spent most of our relaxing time up there as it was empty. Outside the hotel there are hundreds of shops and bars and restaurants that go on for miles. Calla millor is very close when you are walking you dont realise you are even there. If you turn right out of the hotel you will come to the harbour which is beautiful and if you keep walking you will come to a restaurant called Sa Punta which is owned by rafael nadal and his familly. The staff at the gran sol were all very nice and helpful and they deserve a medal for how hard they work. Thankyou to Christian, raul, santi, javier, sisi, and many more that made our stay a very pleasent one. We had an excellent week at the gran sol and the weather was hot all week too. Thankyou also to annette and steve for also making our week a enjoyable one and making us welcome from our first night.

Just returned from spending 10 days at the Gran Sol - one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. We were a group of eight and everyone thought the same. The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them. Food in the hotel was excellent and although we had only booked bed and breakfast we ate several times in the restaurant in the evening as it was such good value at only 12 euros and you could eat as much as you liked! The only drawback I would say is the pool is quite small and unless you got down there before breakfast and put your towels on a bed there was no chance of getting one later, although the beach is just a few steps away with plenty of sunbeds available at a charge. We will definitely stay at this hotel again when visiting Cala Bona.

We have stayed here twice and love it. The sea views from the terrace are amazing. All the rooms areairy and modern.
The staff are very helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble.
We had all our meals here, it is very good value and the food is delicious.
Best to allow for extra weight gain when staying here!
We love Cala Bona as a place to stay especially the Harbour Area. It still has a very Spanish feel to it.

Room Tip: All rooms are good.

What an amazing hotel and in the perfect location! I can never usually be bothered to leave reviews after my holidays however i really felt this hotel was werthy of doing one! Me and my partner returned home yesterday after a weeks stay at The Gran Sol and are already well on our way to booking again to return next year! The hotel itself was first class and the location, being set on the beach was fantastic but above all the that the staff and management were amazing! Their attention to detail was touching and they simply couldnt do enough for you! Returning to our room from a few hours on the beach we found a huge bottle of champagne and chocolates with a message from the management and staff to celebrate my birthday. With this and cocktails on arrival and Laura the waitress presenting me with a cake and candle at dinner you couldnt fault their dedication to going above and beyond to make our stay as perfect as they could. A special mention to Laura the waitress and Miguel the Maitre de and all the other staff who helped make this the best holiday ever! The weather was great to! Cant wait to return next year!! Kirsty and Sarah

Room Tip: Get a sea view room! Fantastic!

All the staff are helpful n point you in the right direction, car hire from the reception is as cheap as going direct to hire shop, so don't bother waisting your time. The food is as good as anyone can expect.
