“You have to speak french”
Reviewed 17 August 2012

Me and my wife we stay in this hotel from the 31/7/12 to 9/7/12 .we got there about 11pm and the first thing l wanted was a drink but the allclusive for a drink had stopped so l would have to pay for drink so if you wanted a drink after 11pm you have to pay.We stayed in room 1041 for two night and it was on the main road and there was a bar across the road which was open to 4pm and it was noise so we had to be moved so please don't stay in room 1041 if your are english. The pool was very clean and the food was ok too. The cala egos beach is about 2mins around the corner and it is a clean beach and your can get on a boat trip there too .The entertainment was poor because you have to speak french also the games in the day too But there is a hotel across road which the entertainment is better because they speak english.and no l would not go back too this hotel but the area is very nice with plenty of shops and restaurants and there is a market on thursday too in the evening.

we just came back from a 2 week stay at the Palia Dolce Farniente hotel. the hotel was nice with large room and large balcony. the pools were excellent and the beach was just 5 mins away. we booked this holiday through teletex and were told that the kids club was excellent which it was if you were french! the hotel staff are mainly french and all the day/night entertainment was in french and i would say 95% of the guests were french. Also there is no air con available even though they say there is, i would recommend this hotel if you were french. thanks for looking Andy (Scotland)

Room Tip: 2nd or third level best for sun

Me and a friend have just come back from a week all inlcusive at this hotel, we were a little unnerved before we arrived due to the reviews but please dont listen, you make of it what you want to. We arrived and were greated with friendly reception staff, we were showed to our rooms which were very clean and sufficent for our stay, room was cleaned everyday and new towels every other day. Pool areas were great, always clean and plenty of sunbeds. Although the food may not be to everyones taste, there was plenty there for everyone to find something they like. The majority of guests at the hotel were French, which meant the entertainment was aimed at them, however i dont speak a word of french and enjoyed most nights entertainment, There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants nearby to enjoy an evening out if you want to, highly recommend Sparkles Kareoke bar, had a couple of great evenings in there. All in all very happy with this hotel and would definately go back again.

my wife and i stayed in this hotel 18/7/12 to 30/7/12. we booked all inclusive, rooms were dark and smelly food was not fit for pigs. we had to eat out every day. rooms were terribly over booked, people were sitting arround for up to 6hrs waiting for a room. no air con either in rooms or anywhere in hotel. i was reliably informed by the only decent member of staff, that this year a french travel company had took 90% of the rooms. this probably explains why we were informed over a loud speaker that they were no longer going to announce anything in any other language bbut french.it cost us 500 euro to eat out for 10 days.

Room Tip: no good rooms

Stayed here from 30/6/2012 for a week with my 5yr old daughter the rooms were pretty basic simple but clean, the rooms were cleaned everyday and towels were fresh. The pools are clean and there were plenty of sunbeds and space although I may point out this was not the school holidays so may be different at other times. The entertainment wasn't in English in fact nothing of the holiday was English friendly, the staff struggle to understand you making it difficult to order a lemonade at one point! the entertainment was well thought and i actually enjoyed it when they never spoke because obviously i didn't understand a single word and they never actually attempted to reach to the English audience. i do actually recommend the entertainment from the hotel opposite where we spent a few nights and there night time entertainment was very entertaining and completely English friendly.
The restaurant food was actually surprisingly nice for both me and my daughter and i am quite a fussy eater but managed to eat every night, the snacks throughout the day were also good but the lady serving them was quite rude and i never seen her crack a smile once.
The reception staff were actually really helpful i struggled to get the pay phone to work to organise our transfer to the airport and they just done it for me.
Overall the holiday was good but as they say it is what you make it but we defo would have enjoyed it if we spoke fluent Spanish or French!!

For all english speaking folk of the UK (England, N I, Scotland and Wales) - give this place a wide berth - . Arrived with grand-daughter and great grand-son to be channelled into a basic backroom facing onto staff quarters approx., 10 ft away, with wheelbarrow, bags of sand, staff washing and workshop. Enough pubic hair in bathroom to make a rug! Asked any way to get sandwich/cup of tea/coffee to be met with NON-ENGLISH speaking reception staff with a blank look and this at 11.30 pm having travelled most of the day with a 5 yr old. Never more than approx., 10 brits at any time and all sent to rooms in same corridor. Complained next day and moved to room with balcony but non too graciously with waving of arms. Holiday makers made up of French,Italian,Spanish and German in that order. Asked to enrol 5 year old into kiddie group to be told quite bluntly 'No - don't speak language other than English'! Any one remember Butlin's in 60's/70's think of the worst and double it. Restaurant and bar staff though great and helpful with good food. Cala D Or itself great. Used hotel across road which was great and worth spending the few euros to use facilities and see a friendly face. In our hotel if you like to have every day with the noise of whistles blowing by staff, yelling at top of their voices for people to join in idiotic activities instead of a bit of piece and quite then this is for you. Also be prepared to be ingnored by entertainment staff the minute you open your mouth and discover that you are 'anglaise'. Beware and take translation book with you. Oh yes, when group of approx., 20 French leaving 7.00 am, food made available.
Could go on for ever but off to have a rest!

We had to spend one night in this hotel, the original hotel we were booked in was overbooked.
The room was clean but the walls and decor were very basic, security was non existant.
And to top it all as we opened the door the smell was almost overpowering, damp and moisty.
I do hope they have better rooms for the people that were around the pool area as it seemed quite busy.

Room Tip: Check the quality of the room before moving in suitcases
