“First class holiday”
Reviewed 28 August 2014

We had a 14 night holiday here end of July early August. As expected the hotel was fully booked this was expected as this was our second visit at this time of year. The hotel and rooms are spotless and the food was of a very good standard and varied. The sunbed issue is annoying but no different to any where else I've been in the busy periods. That said there were lots of vacant sunbeds up on the roof top solarium. This was a nice quite location and still within easy reach of the pool and Bar via the lift or stairs. The staff were fantastic and some even remarried us from last year a really nice touch. We have already booked our return for next year.

We stayed for 10 nights of which we thoroughly enjoyed. The hotel is extremely well kept all staff work very hard all day long to keep the hotel spotless. The bar and restaurant staff are very friendly and are also run off their feet all day to keep guests happy. So the comments about the hotel being unclean are not true at all.

Pros
Spotlessly clean hotel and well kept grounds
Friendly very hard working staff
Enthusiastic entertainment team
Beautiful location
Great buffet style food
Large spacious rooms with big balconies

Cons
The pool areas and beach are very over crowded

The main problem we had on our holiday was some of the guests. Parents letting their kids run riot after the evening entertainment at 11.00pm had finished as I guess they were taking a holiday from parenting also!!! Noisy rude kids and ill mannered parents let this hotel down. The comment about staff not cleaning the pool areas in the day is ridiculous and sums up some of the guests. Guests are actually expected to put their own plastic cup in a bin after they have finished their drink. I think some guests thought all inclusive meant getting their own bottom wiped aswell!!!

Room Tip: block 14, 15 and 16 are quiter

On arrival very late in the evening we were very disapointed we were given an apartment on the first floor with no lift although when booking and having called the hotel a few times in advance we anticipated we had a small child who started walking and had a stroller and hence required ground floor accommodation. We had to bring two tired children, several big bags and the stroller all the way up the stairs to find out the room had no cot for our baby, inspite of several requests in writing upon booking. This was eventually fixed 30 min later when the security person provided a travel cot that I had to make myself as there was no maid service at that time. Not a great start. The morning after following a formal complain we were given a ground floor apartment but were left to move all our lugage ourselves. Not great again. Pools are very small and crowded. Small children cannot reach the floor of most pools and hence are all fighting for a place at one end of the pool. The sunbeds are allways taken and towels are put on them the night before which is shocking. We never got a sunbed before 5 PM and in the shade. The place was clean enought but by no means close to any standards of clean of similar places in Spain. Empty plastic cups and rubish was left around sunbeds during the day and never collected. Public areas were clean in the morning but you hardly see any staff cleaning pool area during the day after the busy time. Rooms were clean though and staff was friendly. Food was ok, specially on the Spanish themed night. Entertainment was poor. Mini disco for kids had old fashion songs which were played over and over again every evening for the lenght of our 7 nights stay. One activity of kids club consisted in painting a t-shirt. They charged 10 Euro for this!!!!!!! My daughter was bored. Shows in the evening were of ok quality when entertainment was not provided by the staff themselves, which we thought that for the kind of money the hotel is charging was a bit of a joke. All in all would never go back. Area around hotel was busy with tacky shops selling souvenirs and very poor quality restaurants and bars selling English style food. Advice, go somewhere else in the island. Mallorca has much better than this to offer.

Very expensive for the apartment only option. Can't begin to imagine how a family could do self catering here with the facilities and the space. Staff were all friendly and helpful and the location was ok. Getting a sunbed at the pool was a joke, towels were put out at 11pm so by morning there were no beds to be had, the hotel really need to manage this but instead they do nothing. We met some lovely people but there are much nicer places to stay so I probably wouldn't return.

We booked this on huge strength of the number of very positive trip advisor reviews, but feel very let down and disappointed by the whole week. It has certainly made me downgrade my opinion of trip advisor.

We paid for all inclusive, 2 adults and 1 child, and requested a room in block 8, 9 or 10. We got a room in block 9, which was ok - decent size, fridge, hair dryer, big bathroom, comfy beds, big balcony with sun loungers. Reception very welcoming, hotel and outside areas clean.

Pros: food was plentiful and above average quality. All drinks, ice, cream, slushies also included. Entertainment was above average - things going on in the day time if you wanted to get involved, but no pressure. Evening entertainment good for under 8's. Our 10 year old was quite bored but enjoyed the pool and ping pong (1 table of each).

Cons: 4 pools, but quite small, not very deep and horribly busy. If a family had 3 teenagers they could fill up 1 pool on their own. Not great.
The sunbed situation made us regret booking this hotel from day 1. People put their towels on beds after the evening entertainment (!), then people moved towels the next morning to put their own down (!!), then arguments ensued. The clientele was 90 British Middle class with small children so people were mostly polite and civilised, but there were a lot of heated arguments about the towel situation. The hotel management were not interested at all, advising people to go to the beach if they did not like it.
The beach was very close by, but extremely crowded. 2 sun beds plus umbrella cost 12 euro per day, but had run out by 12. The beach was in a small cove, but was very overcrowded.

All in all we were very disappointed and will not be visiting this area again (outside the hotel were very tacky strip mall type shops selling all sorts of cheap tat), and would certainly not recommend the hotel or area to other people with families.

Room Tip: Blocks 8, 9 or 10 are away from the main pool area where the entertainment goes on, but the entertai...

Returned recently from 1 week break with 9 and 12 yr old in high season.

Pros
Excellent selection and (overall) quality of food, especially Mexican, Asian and Spanish themed nights.
Size and standard of room (in block 10)
Cleanliness of hotel
Proximity to beach
Animation for younger children, excellent enthusiasm and engagement
Close to main strip of Cala D'Or.
Cocktail bar next to hotel, Papaya, definitely worth a visit

Room for improvement

Quality of entertainment for older children, teenagers invited to join in with adults, not ideal for younger teenagers
The madness that is the sunbed situation.

Room Tip: Block 10 was v quiet, sunny in the afternoon

Aparthotel Ferrera Blanca. When we arrived we were not sure what to expect since we arrived quite late. Very welcoming staff on reception to book in and a meal prepared in a reception room
which we didn't expect. We had been allocated rooms across a little road directly across from the main building which were surprisingly quiet large with a spacious balcony. We had paid all inclusive and nothing was too much trouble for the staff great team work. Just near our own beach with stunning beaches nearby. Fabulous little town with lots of bargains. Food and drink to enjoy at three set meals snacks and drinks around the pool whenever. A little present of champagne and fruit left in the room for my birthday. Suitable for all ages inhouse entertainment each evening.

Room Tip: The desk staff accomodate your individual requirements
