One of the luxury, boutique hotels of this growing chain. Just the right size; and did not at all seem busy/crowded when we satyed (hotel was booked up). Facilities, service and cleanliness spot on. Just away from the beach, with indoor and outdoor pools. The beach/cove is one of the best in Majorca, and this plus the hotel are close to all the restaurants in the area, but away from the noise (this review coming from an outgoing, young adult!) of the buget hotels/bars.
Easy to reach by public transport, and find if driving (parking spaces always available).
Rooms well decorated, bathrooms too, though bed sheets and electrical amenities not exactly top-notch.
Restaurant very good, though cheaper alternative available. Complimentary Breakfast- no complaints. Huge variety, and 'cooked' elements made quickly, to order.
overall though, definitely recommend it as the best place to stay that side of the island if affordable, and if you get a bit of discount/offer, then it makes it fab value too.

This is one of the best hotels we have stayed at. We enjoyed all aspects of the hotel; well appointed rooms; friendly staff ; good facilities and situated in a relatively quiet area. We would have no hesitation in staying there again or recommending it to others.

We have just returned after staying a week at the Melia. It's difficult to say what's not already been said. Although there was only 2 of us we splashed out and booked a junior suite. On arrival we found this was located in the main building at the rear facing the gardens and pool. The suite itself was fabulous, large lounge beautifully furnished with sliding doors on to the balcony. The balcony was huge extending the whole width of the suite and could be accessed as well from the bedroom. It was nicely furnished with table and chairs and padded sun loungers with coffee table, a great place to sit out at night with whatever tipple you fancied...The bedroom was totally self contained from the lounge once again beautifully appointed with an enormous four poster bed plus a TV if you wanted it...The bathroom was pure luxury with double sinks spa whirlpool bath plus seperated shower and WC cubicles.
So that was the room how about the rest of the hotel? The gardens are lovely and well kept and they surround the pool. The sun loungers are grouped in pairs separated by small hedges a nice touch if you want some degree of privacy. there is a small bar at the pool where drinks and snacks can be ordered....The restaurant is very smart and the staff are smiley and attentive. My wife asked for hot chocolate at breakfast, it wasn't a problem and arrived piping hot in a silver jug. The breakfast itself had everything you could ask for from cooked breakfast to savoury meats and cheeses choices of breads and rolls and pastries, my favourite was smoked salmon and scrambled eggs...lovely!! Like most people we didn't eat in the evening at the hotel but preferred to eat out and as already been said the best restaurants are at the marina they are first class.
well thats it a fantastic classy hotel. Would I go back? you bet!!...can't wait till next year

The Melia Cala d'O'r Boutique hotel was just perfect for us. We were able to travel on direct flights from Jersey (Palmair is excellent) and used Resorthoppa to transfer to and from Cala D'or - a tip I picked up from tripadvisor. It was efficient and inexpensive - give it a try!

The hotel and staff could not be faulted. Fantastic breakfast and within 20 mins walk, a selection of good restaurants. One review mentioned not being able to find a typical tapas bar - we found several - head towards the Marina and the pedestrian precincts on the way are the place to look. There is one by the Marina itself, but it was a little too far for an evening stroll.

We used the terrace bar/restaurant at the hotel some lunchtimes - good service again and considering the 5 star rating, not too expensive.

We didn't try the hotel for dinner as apart from the price, the restaurant appeared to lack any atmosphere due to few diners.

All things considered, an excellent venue for a relaxing break. Our room faced west which from the large terrace, gave us unlimited sunshine.

Take a small travel kettle (as we did from reading a previous review) as apart from this, all tea coffee making facilites are provided.

Previous reviews were very helpful and we booked via hotels4u.com, however direct with Melia would appear to give savings.

We chose the Melia because we wanted 5 star comfort but without the astronomical prices or knobby atmosphere that you sometimes get and the Melia Cala D'Or was perfect for us. The staff are amazing - honestly - their smiles and hellos all seem absolutely genuine and whilst we didn't have cause to ask for much what we did ask for was provided efficiently and kindly. The breakfast room is lovely and the chef will cook whatever you require if you don't want the buffet.
We had a Junior suite (415) which was great. We were a bit disappointed at first that it didn't get the sun during the day but we got used to waiting for it at 5 and enjoying the last 2 hours.
The lunch menu was quite pricey but worth it a few times during your stay as it is so much better than the touristy tat you will find in town.
The swimming pool is fantastic - small but cute and I swam every day without a shiver or a shake. The indoor pool is slightly warmer but we had such good weather it was nice to cool off a bit.
We were a bit unsure about Cala D'Or as a resort - we chose it because we wanted a bit of nightlife but the resort type food was a bit of a disappointment. All the menus were the same and even though I had done my research and chosen the supposedly popular restaurants - we did get some bad and some very average meals. Our favourite was Fernando's near one of the taxi ranks but that was mainly because of a fantastic duo they had singing there on Friday and Tuesday. I don't know what they were called but the girl put any of the singers on our X-factor to shame. I think Simon Cowell should sign her! :) Also they had very attractive female waitresses which my husband didn't mind at all. I am going to do a trip report which will include our trips and restaurant visits.
Best way into town is out of the back garden gate, turn left, don't turn right at Hollywood bar but carry on to the bridge and turn right there - this will lead you to the taxi rank where Fernando's is and all the bars. (less steps this way and less people in your way.)
Oh yes and they left a lovely cake in our room when it was my husbands birthday. That was nice. :)

Myself and my husband stayed at this hotel in August. The Hotel is set in beautiful grounds with lovely gardens. We were upgraded to a junior suite , the rooms were beautifully decorated with a high standard of furniture. The kitchen area had everything you needed if you wished to eat in. We had a large balcony with furniture overlooking the back of the hotel. The rooms were cleaned everyday with turndown service at night a little choc and weather report for the next day were left on the bed every night for the following day. The breakfast was excellent providing everything from fruit, pastries, eggs and bacon cooked to order to bucks fizz and coffee. The pool area was quite private with little hedges dotted inbetween each pair of sunloungers , the pool bar area served excellent bar snacks and the perfect cocktail, mine being pina coladas! The staff are very attentive and friendly. Overall if you do choose Cala D'or for your holiday do not hesitate to pick this hotel I promise you will not be dissappointed. We would definately stay here again.

Lovely hotel, wonderful staff, great facilities, good food, great value. The fact that it is in an odd location does not detract from it at all. It is nicely hidden away from the worst excesses of Cala D'Or. Just loved the breakfast with a great choice. If I could get it at the same price, I would have no hesitation in staying again.
