Arrived at the hotel about 12.30 midday, only to be told without any apology that the room wasnt ready.returned at 1.15 room ready. The room is a nice size but a bit dated, which wasn't a problem as we didnt plan to spend much time there. Stayed for 9 nights only had the bedding and towels changed once. Air con very noisey, only managed 1 hot shower as their never seem to be any at peak times. Didnt mind the sun beds being unlocked at 10am, saved getting up at silly o'clock, but it lead to a lively start to the day. Once settled at the pool the entertainment staff were very good, bar staff very helpful and pleasant but always in a rush to keep up with demand. Fantastic location for the beaches and nightlife. Would visit resort again but wouldn't stay here!

Where do I start , our first room we were given was awful the smell in the room was like a gents dirty toilet, vile . The decor was right out of the 1970 bright orange Curtains green furniture all very , very dated and all seen better days. We were staying in a apartment the kitchenette was very basic and again all the utensils had all seen better days. We complained and they moved us to another room decor the same but did feel cleaner . The same day we arrived I asked for extra pillows we waited 4days for them to arrive! As for cleanliness the housekeeping were supposed to come 5days out of your 7night stay , she came twice during our stay and the sheets on the bed were not changed at all.
The fire procedures were terrible , the apartments were in two storey blocks and there was only one fire extinguisher between 6 apartments , we were on the top floor so if there was a fire we would be in trouble , also there was no fire blanket or extinguisher in the apartment and no other way to get out of the apartment other than jump over the balcony , these procedures definitely need looking at before they have serious accident.
The pool was far too small for the amount of guests staying at the hotel we did not manage to get a bed once . Also around the pool guests were given proper glasses to drink from the floors around the bar area and pool were very slippy accident waiting to happen.
The only good thing was the hotel was situated well for walking into the centre and the beach. I will never return to this hotel.

Room Tip: Try a room that does not over look the pool as it is very noisy

Thanks a lot for your opinion.
It´s nice you got a new room.
The rooms overlooking the pool are really nice but the guests know there are many children swimming and playing with the entartainers during the day (it´s a family hotel), and in the evening we have the shows.
Anyway I hope you could enjoy your holidays in Mallorca.

3rd visit in 4 years, criticisms about sunloungers and tired rooms are valid but value for money, cleanliness and location can just not be beaten. We don't opt for all-inc as so many great restaurants within 10 minutes walk. I don't think there is room for more sunloungers, problem is families taking one a piece and then only mum and dad using. We were a group of 7 and would try to lay claim for 3 sunbeds. Perhaps they should assign 2 per room and then if you want more join the free for all. Rooms are great if not likely to win any interior design prizes, free of charge air-con, fridge, kettle, toaster etc and new TV's. We are lucky to have use of a very nice private villa in the canaries and are fortunate to stay in 5 star hotels on other occasions but for what we paid there is no room to grumble. A room that sleeps 4 at c£90 per night in the height of the season with budget airline flights makes our summer Mallorca trips a holiday bonus we would otherwise do without. 9 nights there is cheaper than our half term breaks to other places and cost less than just our flights to the canaries in Oct. Take it for what it is, if you want more then Esmeralda Park is nice but getting on for nearly double the room rate. Enjoy the sun, go with the flow and get out and see the island. If you have kids you will accept the noise, if you haven't why go in school holidays and expect anything different?

Room Tip: Ask for one away from the pool area nearer to reception.

Holiday 11-18 August. Self catering.
Arrived at reception at 12 noon, room wasn't available. Receptionist said to come back in a hour. We did so and came back at 1pm, receptionist called housekeeping who relayed to us it would be another 15 mins. In total we waited another 25 mins and had to ask again even though we stayed in the reception area. We found our apartment on top floor in the quiet quarter which was great although no lifts with heavy luggage not ideal. Cleaning could be better..we had no change of linen during the week or tea towel. We noticed that fresh linen was placed outside our apartment each day but ours was never changed. It was obviously meant for next door who were full board! Just a helpful tip..you can catch the local 501 bus to palma just past the supermarket by the beach not as the receptionist told us which was way past the centre on the way to the harbour. We chose the beach each day over the pool as it was too small and the regulars mapped their territories early!! Apart from the above cala d'or is a fantastic place to stay.

We had a week at the Alba, traveling with 2 children (6 & 12) and joining my elderly parents, including my father who needs a wheelchair for any distance and sticks at other times.

On arrival our apartment was not ready (around 10:30 am) but there was a room to store our luggage and we only had to wait about 30 mins. The room we had was overlooking the pool on the third floor, my parents were in the ground floor of the same block. The apartment was spacious with a bedroom and large dining/kitchen/sitting room where the settees were made up as beds for the kids. The balcony was a reasonable size with a table and 2 chairs and a clothes line for hanging up swimmers etc. The bathroom was also a good size with a bath and overhead shower.

Our air con wasn't very effective (compared to my parents) but it was ok. The water from the taps in the bathroom sink barely came out at a trickle although the shower flow was strong. The kitchenette wasn't particularly well stocked (no kettle for example) but as we were all inclusive this wasn't a problem for us.

The food in the restaurant was average to good with a reasonable selection available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Typically for dinner there was a choice of two or three meats, a fish dish, pasta, rices, salads, soup and various sweets. The kids struggled on a couple of meals to find something they fancied but there was always a pizza and chips on every lunch and dinner. The only gripe about the restaurant was the lack of effective air conditioning. The selection of drinks on the all inclusive package was good - beer, wine, sangria, spirits and some cocktails. The ice cream selection was a bit limited with either vanilla or strawberry tubs or 'magnum' style lollies (which were not available for the last couple of days we were there).

The staff were superb throughout, from reception through to the bar staff and restaurant staff - all seemed happy and cheerful and eager to help. English was pretty good. Internet access was provided around the pool and bar areas (and we could access it on our balcony).

Entertainment in the evening was a bit lame, both in terms of the content but also in actually accessing it. Some nights it was outside on the patio area but there were not enough chairs for all to see so people had to stand around. Other nights it was inside the bar area where there were chairs but no air conditioning and so it was too hot to sit comfortably for long.

The pool area was superb and the kids had a great time. There were activities such as volleyball and zumba etc. but there was always still room in the pool for people not joining in. Towels were provided on a deposit basis which worked fine - we changes towels whenever we needed without any problems. Getting a sun lounger was a problem - each night they were all stacked and locked up and there were signs saying no reservation of the sun shades but that was not policed. Loungers were released at 10:00 each morning but queues formed from around 9:00. People grabbed a lounger and then reserved it all day - often you would see people get their lounger in the morning and then leave the hotel for the morning. Getting a lounger if you hadn't queued for one was impossible until about 4:00pm when a few would become available.

The biggest issue we had was that my parents had been told the hotel was wheelchair friendly but this is not the case. Their ground floor apartment had three steps to get into it and to get to the restaurant required going down some steep slopes which required my father got out of his chair because my mother could not hold the chair down the slope. One of these slopes and the access to the restaurant itself was next to the pool area and usually wet and slippy which is not good for a person unsteady on his feet using sticks.

Overall though we had a good holiday - the hotels location is close to three beaches and a short walk from the main town and the resort is very family orientated. The hotel is clean, the staff great and although perhaps in need of some updating the accommodation is acceptable.

Room Tip: Our room overlooking the pool was a great location and not too noisy at night.

I have just returned from the Prinsotel Alba with my two grown up teenage children, we had to wait two hours before we could get in to our room, which we expected as we arrived at 10-30 in the morning, the room was dated, the shower was cold and the shower head didnt stay on the wall, we were onthe third floor which made it a struggle to carry the cases up the stairs to the room. I found the unlocking of sun loungers at 10 a fair system, ive been to hotels where the beds all have towels on them by 8:00 but nobody to be seen, we got there at 9:55 and got 3 beds ,there is a sun terrace with about 30 un comfortable loungers that is always empty,we stayed self catering so couldnt tell you what the food was like but Cala Dor has some lovely eating places, we ate at the main centre of the resort every night which is a five min walk from the hotel, make sure you go to the marina which is a 10-15 walk. The beach is just across the road its very busy, the sun longers and parasols are 13 euros, it was 18 for us as there was 3 of us, the man selling melons has a very funny selling song! All in all loved cala dor the hotel is fine, we would go back.

Room Tip: Bottom floor as its a struggle carring cases up 3 flights of stairs

Just come back from 2 weeks at the Prinsotel Alba. There was a couple of teething problems but as soon as we mentioned them to reception they were dealt with straight the way. The rooms a spacious and clean but are tired, the aircon appeared to be turned off at night, making it very hot during the night, and I have to say ours didn't work that well. We overlooked the childrens pool on the ground floor which was very noisy and as soon as the pool pump turned on in the morning at 8am approx. there was a loud humming noise in the room making a sleep in impossible! The kitchen was quite well equipped and the complex as a whole was kept very clean. The only downside was the pool activities, the pool was not very big and when volley ball or water polo was on it was best just to get out of the pool! We were self catering so cannot comment on the food but can recommend a little place just round the corner called the Toby Jug, Paco was fantastic and the food amazing but don't go there if you are in a hurry lol.

Room Tip: The rooms across the road from the pool on the same side as reception are a lot quieter.
