“nice hotel. good central location.”
Reviewed 5 August 2012

We returned 4th August after a 11 nights stay. This is my first experience of an adult only hotel and i have to say it was lovely! this is a quiet hotel both day and night. If you are looking for an action packed holiday then this place is not for you.Diving, lilos and balls are not allowed. it was lovely not trying to avoid balls. Entertainment is poor!

THE ROOM/ HOTEL / STAFF
The hotel reception is cool and decorated in creams and turquoise which was a good first impression. The bedrooms have had a re-vamp and the bathroom was one of the best we have had. There was a flat screen t.v but mainly spanish and german channels but you are not there to watch t.v! although it was good for the olympics.
There is a fan and FREE aircon and a FREE fridge which is something we have not even had in 5* hotels. Safes are near reception but this was not a problem. It would have been nice to have had some bottled water in the fridge on arrival. We were celebrating our anniversary and was pleased to find champagne and fruit in our room on day 3 but would have been nice to have found it on arrival. The rooms and all areas are kept very clean by the hard working staff.
Restaurant staff work very hard clearing away and re dressing tables and catering for your needs.
Bar staff need to smile a little more and give AL guests the same attention as HB guests as i personally experienced a bar member leaving me waiting for my drinks to serve a HB guest even though they had taken my order. This I have to say only happened by one member of staff on several occasions so is unfair to class them all the same. This is only one small negative amongst a whole lot of positives.

Sunbeds are reserved but this is the same everywhere! Whilst we were there the door was locked until around 8.30am and there was always availability to around 9am so better than i had expected.

The Management do aim to please and listen to customer requests and make immediate changes for their guests i.e. introducing hot food at lunch time at the pool bar for AI guests and
Re - introducing fruit at lunch.

FOOD
food was plentiful and lots of choice. In fact probably too much choice! every night you had salad, soup, pate, cheese, vegetarian, pork, beef, fish, roast, griddled meat, potatoes, chips, vegetables and sweet options. I believe this is why it may have seemed repetitive by some moaners! We always found something to enjoy. If people didn't over indulge they would not have found it repetitive!
You can get snacks including ICE CREAM and FRESH FRUIT from the snack bar all day and night, cold sandwiches and hot food( hot food introduced from end of July).
Drinks are 11am - 11pm and includes cocktails. Plastic cups during the day but full size glasses on an evening. You never have to queue and very civilized compared to 'family' all inclusive.

RESORT
BEAUTIFUL! everything you would ever hope for and more!
The only thing missing is a sea front to enjoy the sea breeze on an evening. The streets are full of bars, shops and restaurants but narrow and very hot with no air.

OUT AND ABOUT
We went on the land train around Cala D'or. I'm not sure how this works as we paid 3.50 euros and was told we couldn't hop on - off but i think others have so i think he probably makes it up as he feels, as we saw some doing this! It was an enjoyable hour though.
We went on the Island discovery tour booked through Thomas Cook and have to say this was one of the best we have ever done. Ask for a packed lunch at reception to take with you as food was very expensive at the mid way stop.

WE HAD A LOVELY STAY AT THIS HOTEL BUT I FEEL I HAVE TO SAY ONE THING!
we paid extra for a sea view room at a cost of £110 and want to warn others NOT TO DO IT!
This hotel is central and there are a limited amount of rooms that are classed as having a sea view. The hotel is set back from the sea with a hotel in front, the view we had was of the hotel with a left hand side sea view above the many trees. NOT what i expected and i felt ripped off. The room was very noisy as a road is below. I did complain to the rep but unfortunately you would have to move the hotel to get a better view. I Shall continue with this complaint now home. I don't think this complaint is at the fault of the hotel but Thomas Cook, so do not be put off but as a loyal reviewer i did not want others to pay for something you would not get.
Request a pool view room but do not pay extra. I believe that the view we had, bearing in mind the hotel opposite and the road below should have been a last minute booking room not to be paid extra for.

CONCLUSION
This hotel during our stay was visited by a range of nationalities and ages.

Is this hotel for you? if you want a quiet, civilized AI holiday in a central location with no children, then YES.

If you expect music day and night and be able to dive and have fun in the pool (Magaluf style!)
then NO.

Room Tip: Pool view have the best sun and view

Having stayed there 10 years ago, what a transformation!! went with `best mate Pete` and our wives, this hotel is top class, the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble, the food is superb with plenty of variety, the negative comments in the past are long gone, everything is well cooked and presented. the hotel is very clean, we did have a problem with room 108 with a water leak but it was fixed within an hour.
There was never a problem with sunbeds, plenty to go around.
Special mention to `Gringo` Dave and Sarah, our new friends! also special mention to `Lurch` behind the bar, he has been here since 1978 methinks, he always made us feel good and made us laugh.
Special mention also to Nikki J, the Thomas Cook rep, she was absolutely delightful and above all helpful.
Many thanks to the Hotel Management and staff, keep up the good work.

Room Tip: Chose a 3rd floor room so you can see the view above the trees!

We stayed the end of July and were very happy with our stay. As a couple in our late 20s we were very happy with the location of the hotel and the fact there were no children screaming and jumping in the pool. There seemed to be a rush for sunbeds on a morning we would have breakfast and go to the poolside around 10 and most beds were taken. We preferred to eat down the road for breakfast and did not eat in for our evening meal either so can't really comment too much on the food. We went for breakfast twice and the sausages looked a little under cooked and the orange juice tasted really cheap. We tended to go for breakfast down the road where a full english was 4 euros and much tastier. The rooms were very clean and had much needed air con and fan. We found not having a safe in the room a little worrying as we had only took cash however u can hire a safe which is in a safe room next to the reception. The shower was lovely although it tended to leak and the bath mat got very wet. Maybe a longer screen would help but cant really complain as it was a lovely shower room. The hotel is very central, close to restaurants, beach and shops. The staff are very pleasant and the maids worked extremely hard. I really enjoyed our stay and would reccomend it alot. I would like to stay again in the future. If I could change anything it would have been our view as we were on the side of the hotel over looking another hotel roof. We only got the sun 5am-7am on our balcony.

Stayed here on the last week of july and was a really lovely hotel, staff very friendly and the place was spotless, rooms cleaned every day and nothing was too much trouble food was lovey and plenty of choice. We read that if you didn't get to the pool by 7.30am all pool sunbeds were taken, we didn't have any trouble we went down at 8.30- 9.00am and had one with no problem they do go down and put towels down early even though they say pool does not open till 9.am.
Cala d'or itself is a really pretty, clean and friendly place I was impressed with the resort, plenty of places to eat & drink. If you have children there is a bar called the Tropical Garden where of a evening they have a show on to entertain the childrens then at 9.45pm have tribute bands on for the adults. In cala d'or they have 2 mini trains that go round the resort and is worth going on to have a look what's round a bout plus in the heat which was 32c when we where there it's a nice trip out and save's walking in it, it cost 3 euro for each and is hop on hop off. The trip to the caves of drach is worth a visit with our tour operator we had a trip to the mallorca pearl factory to see how they were made and a chance to buy some pearls, then on to porto christo for an hour to wlak around which is also a lovely resort. There are also a few boat trips about we went on the starfish glass bottom boat which leave the cala gran beach which is just 5 mins walk from the hotel this lasted 2 1/2hrs and again was worth it again hop on hop off and lovely scenery along the coast also they have a stop were you can have a 30min swim in the sea from the boat which was a relief from the heat and you soon dry off but there a quiet a few to choose from. also there are loads and loads of shops to buy your presents for home from it really has very thing but the resort is not disco's not that we saw but then we didn't want that we wanted a relaxing holiday and that's what we got. would go to this resort and hotel again.

Room Tip: are room was at the back and was just right as it was cool in the day and a nice breeze the front yo...

I am a 24 year old female and I took a solo holiday to Majorca in Jul 12 to relax and soak up the sun with Thomas Cook. I was fully inclusive (which is good because its hot and drinks are expensive).

I cannot fault the holiday.

The hotel was clean and tidy and my room was cleaned every day to an excellent standard.

The location was amazing - right near the beach, a spar shop (good for bottled water), and other little shops for presents etc.

The reception staff were very helpful, advising me about my day trips ect, and taking care of my room key when I went out so I didnt lose it (not compulsary - just very helpful).

There was a lovely pool (no screaming children as the hotel is adults only), a bar open 12 hours a day, pool table, lounge area (near bar), outside entertainment near pool on some nights, and a spa / beauty treatment place.

The food was amazing. Some people complained about the food and to be honest I think if I had taken my partner he would have too. This is because he is scared to try things - the food was labeled for example with what meat it was. However, the sauce it was in or whatever else was a mystery unless you tried it and I think some people just decide they dont like it. If you are not scared to try the food its amazing, I tried and loved chicken in a banana and pinapple sauce!

My room had a lovely big shower, a sink and toilet. Also fridge (good for keeping own water in for next day trips), a TV, and a balcony.

I would deff go back and stay again full board.

Hope to see you again soon guys - thanks so much for taking care of me.

The hotel was very good, first impressions were excellent, the staff were very helpful ,the room was good nice clean condition with a nice view over the swimming pool, and you could watch the idiots marching down to the pool to book/stake a claim on the sun loungers (we heard about this walk of the Sun Loungers from other guests and got up early one morning to watch them). We go on holidays to relax, who wants to get up early every morning on holidays. The entertainment was very enjoyable.

We will certainly be returning to the Tucan at some future date.

the hotel is good ,first impresions were excellent,as the bus pulled up i thought mmmmm nice, the hotel has had a recent upgrade and as i could see from the other hotels near by ,this was one of the best, the staff are faultless ,very helpful ,the room was good nice clean condition with a nice view to the rear and if you looked to the right you can see the sea and the boats moored up.the rear rooms seamed a bit more quiet than the front rooms ,everywhere is a bit noisy at night if you want an early night, but at 11pm everything quietens down,we went half board and we never needed anything,i found it quiet sufficient ,the food was excellent the eggs were a little dryed out but if you ask they will cook you fresher ones,(im just a bit fussy lol)half board eating in the breakfast included free drinks, but half board eating in the evening didnt,so you had to buy drinks for your evening meal, even water, you can buy bottles of wine and they bring it back each evening if you havent finished it,so ok i guess, the pool hhmmmm it is excellent and clean and one of the best ive seen, but the sun beds again are a problem,it says no reserving but people insist on reserving them ???? i never had a problem as im a big guy and just threw the towels off the beds and helped my self to a bed ,didnt go down to well with some who tried to reseve them and turn up 4 hrs later,???? tough i say.the entertainment is ok ,but has to cater for every taste ,but there is plenty going on outside the hotel in that respect, drinks are much the same price as in england so dont expect a cheap night.the safety deposit box was 20 euro`s a week ???????? rip off in my book as its been free everywhere else ive been, and i needed one for safe keeping of items.but it seemed a honest safe hotel.the public areas cater for all, there is livley areas ,quiety areas ,and easy sitting areas, all in all a very good hotel and the holiday was made good by the kid free hotel.(nice and quiet without kids).

Room Tip: back of hotel rooms dont face the noisy street, and face the valley with a view of the sea.nice view...
