Inturotel Cala Azul Park
Ranked #5 of 46 Hotels in Cala d'Or
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 6 September 2012

This is our second trip to Cala D'or and this hotel is very nice, we booked with Thomas Cook and wasnt sure whether we would get the Cala Azul Park or the Cala Azul Gardens, however we were in block C, room 315 in the Park. The room had a side view of the beach and overlooked the pool. The hotel is very clean and the maids come almost everyday. We never ate at the resaurant but the drinks were reasonably priced in the bar. There is 3 sections of pool, a childrens pool and two larger pools. There was entertainment on, ie. childrens dancing in the small pool once a day and water polo twice a day in the larger pools for the adults. The only bad things about the hotel was the air conditioning was very poor, we asked at reception about this twice and they said they would attend to it - but on return there was no change. So I am not sure whether they either did attend to it and couldnt fix it or it was just a very poor airconditioning to start with. There is a problem with the sun beds, unless you get there very early or after 4pm you wont get one. We often had to find the white plastic chairs to sit on around the pool area. Also the kitchen is very minimal and compact, we had to boil a pan to make tea and coffee, so bring a travel kettle! There is a fridge with a freezer section and two electric rings on the hob, also there is no microwave. Cala D'or itself is lovely and plenty of places to eat/drink. Some places have entertainment on on an evening, ie. karoke/tribute acts/childrens mini disco's/enteratinment etc. We went to Tropocal Nights a few nights and our children got involved with the dancing/face painting etc. There is also two fun fairs close by, Mallorca Land and Happy Land. Both have large bouncy castles, racing cars, trampolines/ childrens rides etc, these went down very well! The Mallorca Land Park has a cafe/bar so you can have a drink whilst you watch your children. There is also lots of places to eat/drink that has childrens play areas. I would definately recommend this resort for families as there is so much to do. We also went on a glass bottomed boat trip and a trip to the marina on the little electric train. The hotel is in a great location, directly on to the Esmeralda Beach or ten minute walk to the Cala Gran beach. i would definately recommend this resort and hotel.

Room Tip: ask for one with a sea view! lovely views.

We have just returned form The Cala Azul Park, I read all the reviews before I went and could not agree more with all the good reviews. We had a fantastic stay (all be it apart from the rain !!) the rooms are spotless and the facilties and beach are all within minutes walk. The Esmeralda beach is perfect for young children, and my son and daughter were surfing and snorkelling with confidence in the lovely cove.

We ate in the hotel one night just to try, but found the food a bit bland and with the fantastic choice of restaurants around Cala a dor were spoit for choice, and the prices are so reasonable for the good quality it was a great surprise !!

Next time we book, we will definately get a private transfer as we were on the coach nearly two hours each way with all of the drop off and pick ups.

We stayed in E block which was garden facing with the most beautiful side sea view it was perfect and I would definately want to stay there again, the resort is much bigger then I imagined and if we went back and got one of the rooms overlooking the roundabout I would be really disapointed.

All in all if you are looking for a perfect family holiday you will not go wrong by booking here !!!
Hopefully back again in May !!

Room Tip: Ask for a seaview, but we were even numbers block E and they are side sea view shade all day, which...

After searching for what seemed like forever i came across Cala Azul Park, read all the reviews and it didnt have a single bad one, we booked and went for 2 weeks in July 2012. We got to the hotel in 40 mins by taxi rather than the 2 hours by the thompson coach, went to reception and from that moment we were made to feel so very welcome..we had comtacted the resort prior to arriving to ask for a sea view...thats just what we got, our room was a 2 bed appartment with kitchenette (we went self catering) and it was spotless...absolutley pristine, the bathroom was massive and has a brilliant shower, the towels were changed every day if you requested or every other day.. there was plenty of wardrobe space and it was AIR CONDITIONED as standard. amazing clean resort, very friendly and helpful staff and we will defo go back...just one thing I would say the pool at the Azul Park gets pretty busy with young families however less than 5 mins away is Cala Azul Gardens and the pool there seems to have less kids my are 7 and 14 but they found plenty of kid their age to hang out with....hope you enjoy your holiday as much as we did.

Room Tip: we stayed in block E very quiet and away from the pool, all rooms are nice though

3rd time for us as a family of four (daughters 11 and 13) and it was as good as ever. The standard of accomodation, food , service and cleanliness is as always outstanding. We stayed at the Park this year having stayed in the Gardens the year before. I preferred the location of our room this year but prefer the pool area at the Gardens. Less crowded, easier to get a lounger and a bigger pool. A great base for older children as lots of other children similar ages to 'hang' around the big, but safe complex of three hotels. There are lots of activities for the children if they want to join in with organised games (football, water polo, volleyball etc) but they found it as much fun going from hotel to hotel with their friends and enjoyed the freedom of roaming the complex.
We chose this hotel originally after reading trip advisor comments and are so glad we did. We will definitely be returning and we meet families from previous years who have been going 3, 4, 5 etc years on the trot. ( Met a family who have been going 11 years!) Says it all really.
Just to finish, I am an absolute stickler (obsessive?) about cleanliness wherever we go, home or abroad, and I have never seen such a dedication to keeping all areas of a hotels clean. From the man 1st thing in the morning cleaning all the loungers, the staff cleaning the tops (ash trays) of the bins throughout the day, the excellent bedroom housekeeping, to the lady I watched (whilst I was sitting on the terrace with my lunchtime beer) who was cleaning every part of every 800+ chairs that are on the terrace at Esmerelda.Fantastic!

We stayed at this hotel with our daughters aged 14 and 11 and had a lovely time. We had a room on the top floor of g block overlooking a lovely cove in a quiet and picturesque spot. Sitting on the grass and swimming in in the sea which is clear blue was a fabulous way to spend the day. So relaxing!
The hotel was spotlessly clean and the half board meal option exvellent value for us. Plenty of choice at both breakfast and dinner for everyone!
A trip to cala figuera on the starfish boat was great fun and a lovely way to see this beautiful coastline. Cala Mondrago is also worth a visit with its stunning beaches and walks in the pine trees. Turning left through picnic area takes you to gorgeous beach not as busy as the main two. Porto petro was also a lovely place much cheaper for drinks than cala d or!
Cala d or itself was a typical majorcan holiday resort not as upmarket as we had expected but the marina was beautiful with classy boats and restaurants.
Overall a great holiday; we would happily return to the cala azul park!!!!

We chose this hotel based on reviews on Trip Advisor and are so glad we did! Highlights include access to multiple swimming pools shared between 3 sister hotels all a stones throw away from each other. A supermarket accessed via reception with very reasonable prices caters for all your needs at equivalent UK prices. Food in the hotel is plentiful and varied to suit all tastes with very little waiting time at all. Room service is excellent and there is quiet and effective air conditioning, the hotel is very clean well presented and decoration is kept to a high standard with a schedule of repainting in brilliant white that seems to be taking place all the time!

Most activities including aqua aerobics tend to be based at the sister hotel Esmeralda Park 'next door'. Indoor nightly entertainment in the Cala Azul Park and outdoor at the Esmeralda Park is provided by the enthusiastic young entertainment team who are mostly from Holland who speak English and German fluently simultaneously! Occasional tribute acts and Flamenco dancers etc fill the gaps with the Beatles act particularly impressive and entertaining. Waiters tend to your every need with speedy service and the purchase of drinks at the all the hotels can be credited to your room for settlement at the end of your holiday.
Cala Azul Park is quieter than the Esmeralda where the entertainment is loud until 11 o'clock sharp each night while the Cala Azul Gardens a little further away from both (2 minutes) is quieter still.
Kids have various activites to choose from including pool tables, table tennis , tennis, mini golf, volley ball, pool games in age bands of 4-8, 9-14, 15+. A sail and surf centre is 'on site' for sailing, wind surfing and paddle boarding (10 euros/ 1 hour).

A strip of shops, cafes and restaurants in on the hotels doorstep as are beaches particularly the Cala Esmeralda which almost feels part of the complex. A must do is a trip on the glass bottom Starfish Boat with trips of 2-4 hours, particularly recommended is the one that includes 30 minutes swimming from the boat...great fun!

Cala D'Or is 10 minutes walk away and the Marina with all sorts of luxury million pound boats on display 5 minutes further still. Having said that walking in temps of 30 degrees+ during the day is very hard work and a taxi ride one way or the other makes for a more pleasant trip at 6 Euros per ride from almost anywhere. Restaurants at the Marina will order you a taxi after a meal on request and they appear 2 minutes later! At the Marina the Zocalo is highly recommended and the kids will love the tanks full of lobsters and fish.

Pleased we followed the advice of others on Trip Advisor and had a great holiday that will be hard to beat!
