“Early June visit”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

Excellent Thomsons Gold 4 star hotel. Service, food, situation could not have been better. There is entertainment on most nights which is of a high standard. At the time of our visit there were ample sun beds, but for those keen to obtain the same bed each day, there was a 9.00am 'run 'with a little jostling even though the average age of guests was over 60. Therefore at this time of year not a place for the young ones.
A small beach is only 100 yards away as are shops, restaurants, bars etc. Cala D'Or is about 20 minutes walk away and the whole area of Cala Egos and CalaD'Or was spotless.
The downside only was the return flight to Manchester with lots of squealing 18month olds for the full return journey, even though we thought that at this time of year there would be very few children travelling !!

Room Tip: Don't put up with a noisy room, others are usually available.

This was our 8th year at this same hotel .....why......because it is a very friendly clientele , every member of staff were extremely helpful and polite, it's family run and always someone from the family available if you wanted to speak with them. Yes some people say it's for those people in their golden years but those people are very young in spirit and have never heard them complain only laugh and join in the entertainment without any hesitation, both hubby and I are in our fifties but we still made lots of holiday friends and enjoyed their company very much. Noticed one review re the early sunbed rush but there was in our case and our friends who we met last year and we arranged the same time this year a reason for this but this person was obviously blind. We all but one if us had mobility issues and we were closer to the poolside showers and toilet so please don't judge before you know all the facts!!!!! The hotel was cleaned every single day by an army of cleaners who worked their socks off......you opened your balcony door and no dirt in the runners!!!!!the food was as per the norm very well presented and you could eat as much as you wanted........the waiters especially Antonio and the gorgeous Diego always had a smile in their faces even after a twelve area shift and by heck they do earn every penny of their wages. The Thompson reps were very nice especially Candice, corrine and Natalie , always had a laugh and chat with you, hubby had to get some medical treatment whilst we were there and the rep and hotel receptionists was amazing, very helpful and caring. Made it so easy for us and calmed me down as was afraid we would not be able to fly home at one point. So looking forward to going back as soon as we can...... But Thompson gold please sort the towel situation out with the hotel and cushions for the sun loungers the only down side if you have a health problem they are really uncomfortable!!!! As for not having kettles in your room we took our own travel kettle etc and had no problems in using it!!!! Lastly thanks to June and Brian , your company and the giggles we had made it a fantastic holiday, hope to meet you there again. Xx
The Archers.

Room Tip: Room 18 25 were ground floor but Ramps were a little bit of an issue for less mobile persons but sun...

Hotel was very clean staff worked very hard, our room was at the back overlooking a car park but when you were sitting down you couldn't see it and it really wasn't too bad and we got the sun from early afternoon onwards. Most disappointing was the food nothing special and if you wanted hot food you had better like pork.
Noticed someone complained about the staff, couldn't disagree more I found them very friendly when you spoke to them.
Allocated a table on first visit to dining room and that was yours for your stay, we were fortunate that the people we were sat beside we're very nice and we enjoyed their company but it could have been so different.
Entertainment was mixed, some very good turns some very run of the mill.
We enjoyed it on the whole but won't be back.
Our biggest complaint was our transfer to hotel supposed to be hour and fifteen minutes, we were over two and a half hours, shocking. Also no tea making facility and you weren't even supposed to use your own kettle if you had taken one.
Our opinion is that it's not a Gold hotel and wasn't worth the money

Cala d'Or consists of a centre, with the usual collection of shops and restaurants, set amongst a number of small inlet bays, the largest of which supports a picturesque marina. The Hotel Rocamarina is sited close to this marina and overlooks Cala Des Pou which is one of the smaller bays. Due to its dimensions this beach can become busy. It was our first visit to this hotel and we were impressed by its cleanliness, this being maintained to a high level by a supporting staff. The food was of a reasonable standard although the dining experience tended to be offset by a somewhat canteen environment with specific seating arrangements. Outside, a patio led to a smallish pool area that proffered a rather constricted ambiance although a grassed space nearby provided less congestion.
The entertainment team worked tirelessly to provide a cyclical selection of activities and games throughout the day, followed by the unavoidable evening's presentations. The latter may not be to everyone's taste but then sometimes these pursuits are age related.

Room Tip: There appeared to be various levels of room upgrade so try to establish a firm definition before bo...

Second trip to this hotel, previous trip was six years ago and we were very disappointed by the drop in standards. First impressions were that room was clean but outdated, bed incredibly uncomfortable, and average age of guests was 70ish. Went for breakfast on first day and was told that we couldn't get a table outside so were allocated an alternative table indoors for the duration of our stay, however we ended up sitting at three different tables due to the farcical and pointless system. Food was uninspiring and bland and the cook seemed a charmless individual. Entertainment was terrible and aimed solely at those in their twilight years, the 'games' always seemed to include standing on the stage and chucking things at a target. Some of the other guests at the hotel were unbelievably selfish and rude, queuing up and barging others out of the way to get the same sunbed everyday is pathetic, you know who you are!!!. Also some of these people think nothing of lighting up a constant stream of cigarettes without consideration for those around them, hotel should set up smoking areas. The only thing that saved our holiday was regular trips to the marina to eat at the lovely restaurants there.

Second time we've stayed here, it's a family run hotel where staff are so friendly and helpful. Lovely to be recognised upon our return and receive a small gift in our room to welcome us back. There's no gym or indoor pool, but the pool is the right size for a spring break if all you need is a charged up Kindle, sun tan lotion and a need to switch off. If you must test your competitive side then the Thomson's reps will keep you going with poolside games and quizzes. Last year Mike & Yzzy looked after us, this time it was Natalie & Rin who picked up the baton, although a daily sun bed stretch was enough for us. Food is a wide diverse choice and plentiful and the atmosphere is great. Evening entertainment taps into great talent, loved the Sundaes and the Beatles tribute band. Only downside is the constant Thomson price hike. Went up £150 pp this year from next & that might mean we can't afford a third trip next year

Room Tip: Both rooms we've stayed in have been great, the sun hits the back of the hotel in the afternoon...

Our first visit to the Rocamarina but certainly not the last.
Major positive having the same table as long as you get on with close neighbours!! Which we did, smashing 85 and 84 years old.
Major negative was 'Without Doubt'. Without doubt this couple have not yet decided whether they want to be poor comedians or average singers!!
Agree with previous comments that the method of choosing your evening meal proved somewhat difficult. Shame the show cooking area couldn't have been away from already cooked meals.
Nevertheless, an excellent holiday and we will return.

Room Tip: 223 was very quiet with sun on balcony from 2.00pm
