Club Martha's Aparthotel
Ranked #17 of 46 Hotels in Cala d'Or
Reviewed 10 August 2014

We have just returned from Club Martha's following a one week stay. We opted for a one bedroom self catering apartment. Our 2 daughters 11 & 15 slept on the sofa beds which were comfortable. Initially I found this accommodation on Secret Escapes!

Arrived about 9 in the evening on a Sunday.

The hotel is badged as 4 star and was the first time we visited Majorca.

Personally I believe that its somewhere between a 3 and 4 star as there are just a few things that I would have expected at a 4 star resort.

The hotel, whilst situated in the resort of Cala D'or is locally Cala Egos, but a 5/10 minute taxi journey to the centre of Cala D'or. EUR 5.50 each way. There is a small sandy beach about a 5 minute walk away from the apartments. The beach was very busy and there are a limited number of sunbeds. There is another beach locally which we didn't visit during our stay. The marina is also a short walk away and well worth a visit.

We didn't use the restaurant at the hotel so cannot comment on the quality of the food. Although the takeaway pizzas are very good.

There are supermarkets and several restaurants within walking distance. All are reasonably priced. We tended to eat out in the evenings and went to Tony's and Beatriz Pizzeria. The town has a real family feel to it.

The apartment had adequate facilities for self catering but we knew beforehand that there wouldn't be a kettle or toaster which you can hire at cost. We took a travel kettle. The room had a balcony which had a table and chairs and 2 sunbeds.

Wifi is available at extra cost. EUR 12 for 3 days. There is a safe in the room but this was also an additional cost. EUR 21 for a week.

The room on arrival was clean and the room was cleaned every other day.

On arrival we were given a map to point us to our room.

For families there is a program of activities everyday for children and adults and the entertainment team work very hard. There are shows every evening operated by the animation team, which are good in the main.

I thought the hotel had cracked the age old conundrum of sunbed allocation. The sunbeds are locked up each night and released at 9 am. However whilst this is a good idea and prevents people having to wake up at ridiculous times of the morning, what happens when the locks are removed is a concern.

People tend to arrive at the pool areas anytime between 8 and 9 am to find a spot and sit by this place until the sunbeds can be accessed. This worked well for the first few days as there seemed enough sunbeds to go around and there was space around the pool areas. However towards the end of the week the hotel was becoming very busy. On the Thursday, Friday and Saturday more and more people were waiting for sunbeds and it became more of a free for all. With beds becoming scarce people resorted to laying on the grass areas and the pool areas were more crowded with little room to have any space for yourself.

The pools and surrounding areas are too small for the number of people visiting in high season and I believe more sunbeds are needed or come up with a better way of allocating sunbeds.

There are 2 main pools where most people are concentrated. However we found a third pool at the rear of the hotel complex which is less busy but we only discovered this late on in the week.

This aside we did enjoy our week at Club Martha's and would return. An excellent resort for families.

I picked this hotel after researching all the hotels & reviews Club Martha's stands out, & lived up to expectations, I came with my 11 year old son, hotels very clean (& I'm a clean freak) plenty of activities throughout the day & then they put on a nightly show which is pure cheese but that's what holidays are all about, great location with really nice restaurants just outside the complex, on the whole I would definitely recommend this hotel as I already have to friends

We have just returned from Club Marthas. We thought it was a lovely place to stay. very clean and well maintained. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment which was big enough to sleep 2 adults and 2 children comfortably. Our 12 year old slept in the bed with myself and my husband and there was loads of room. good air conditioning and very clean rooms. We went self catering so cant comment on the food but the cafe area always looked clean and tidy. there are 4 decent sized pools {the indoor pool is closed in summer} although we only used the one in the middle as this seemed to be the one the older children used most. (our boys are 12 and 14). We were very happy in Cala Egos. It was busy enough without being packed and we walked into Cala D'or a few times. Cala D'or was nice but i prefered the more relaxed atmosphere at Cala Egos and as it only took us about 20 minutes to walk to the marina at Cala D'or we felt we had the best of both worlds. We got the train one day for a change and it was nice as we saw bits we hadnt previously seen on foot. The marina was amazing to see. The yachts are fabulous. We didnt use the beach but there is a small beach a 5 minute walk from the apartments. We ate in most of the places in Cala Egos and would recommend Tentols as the best. The service was excellent and the food was always good. Some of the others bars and restaurants could be described as adequate at best and were a bit hit or miss. We felt it was a good safe place to take children. The only complaint i would have is that the wooden floor around the pool got very slippery when wet and as there were a couple of slopes to walk to the pool it could be a bit dangerous. Luckily none of our family slipped but a few people did .We would definitely go back there as all four of us really enjoyed it

Room Tip: we had a first floor room near the main pool and it was ideal for popping back to the room for the t...

Returned today from Club Martha's (4/8/14).
Overall would rate this hotel as a 2/3 star only compared with many other 3 star hotels in the Balearics which we found to be far superior in most areas.
We were booked into a studio by Travel Agent and after reading peoples comments about the small size of them attempted to upgrade but were unable to do so....the Travel Agent blamed the hotel for accepting the booking for 3 people in a studio and hotel blamed Travel Agent for requesting the booking in the first place as the studio was not suitable for 3 people!!
Hotel stated could not guarantee an upgrade on arrival and sure enough could not do so.
As expected room very small and totally not suitable for 3 people but we were stuck with it for 7 nights!
The third bed provided was an old rusty folding camp bed which had to be put between the other 2 beds at night totally blocking the room off and presenting a trip hazard ( I stubbed my toes several times during the nights....not nice!).
On the first night the camp bed collapsed which was a good thing as it was worn out and very uncomfortable and was later replaced my a newer but equally uncomfortable camp bed.
Unacceptable to sleep on a camp bed in what is supposed to be a 4 star hotel!!!
On arrival the air conditioning was not working....it was fixed shortly after but was very noisy and inefficient....could not have it on when sleeping although very hot at night!
Entertainment far too noisy (even though not too near to stage) hence forget about trying to sleep until after 0015 hours!
Same problem with sun beds as described by numerous other visitors.
Food acceptable but not as good as other 3 star hotels we have stayed in.
Wi Fi not good.
Towels changed only twice in a week when room cleaned at same time....every hotel stayed at previously cleaned most days and towels changed as well.....very poor!!
Good Points:-
Cala Egos/Cala Dor is a nice clean resort with beaches and sea very pretty and well maintained....better than most others visited in Balearics!
Swimming Pools are good....pleasant,clean and well maintained.
To sum up I would describe this hotel from our visit as mainly 2 star....possibly 3 star for certain features but does not come any where near 4 star!! and do not let them book you into a studio under any circumstances particularly if you have 3 in your party (even if one of them is a child!)
I cannot comment on the appartments as we were not offered one.
Overall I would definately recommend the resort of Cala Dor but would find a far superior hotel to Marthas (which should not be too difficult!)....needless to say we will not be returning!!!!

Room Tip: Choose an appartment and as far away as possible from the entertainment....not a studio!!!

We have just returned from a two week stay at the hotel and this is our 4th visit. We have had an amazing time again and can't fault the hotel. There is loads to do for all the family, the rooms are just what you need for the amount of time spent in them. We stay in a studio which is big enough for 3 people, They have a fridge, microwave,a hob and you can get a toaster and kettle from reception if you need these and are free of charge. There is a hairdryer and the aircon which is great. The rooms are cleaned every other day, clean sheets and fresh towels and the cleaners do a great job.

The swimming pools are as good as ever, There is 5 pools to choose from and they are all great. The staff in the Moogie bar and Natalie bar are all friendly and as we have stayed before they all recognize us and it's nice that they do. The food which is available from Natalie bar is really nice and i would recommend the Ceaser salad so tasty.

The entertainment team are all amazing people and work so hard the shows that they put on are fab and they give 110% all the time. This year my little boy was old enough to join in Molly club as this is from 4 years up and they have some fantastic activities for them all to take part in. The Molly club entertainers Jeffery, Sidney, Jesse and Joyce are all amazing at there jobs and make all the kids very welcome and always have fun activities.

The surrounding area Cala Egos which is two minutes from the hotel has loads of lovely places to eat and they are all reasonable prices. We ate at Tony's Bar/Restaurant and the staff and food are very good and its nice that they know who we are from previous visits.

The little train the runs every hour into Cala D'or is only 2 euros per person and is a nice little ride into the town and if you don't fancy getting on the train then a taxi is always available. The beaches again are lovely and only 5 mins walk.

I would recommended this hotel to anyone as it has a bit of everything for everyone couples orderly and families and we are booked to go back again.

Room Tip: We usually stay in rooms 5301-5308 as these are at the back of the hotel and look out onto the sea f...

We stayed here for two weeks at the end of July. The staff were great and couldn't do enough for you. The one bedroom apartment was spacious with sunbeds on the balcony and we requested a quiet room which we were given which was lovely and sunny most of the day. The cleaning was a bit hit and miss, we never knew when the cleaners were coming in and you could write your name in the dust at the television. However the biggest problem was sunbeds. We realised that sometimes it is difficult to get sunbeds in peak season but I have never seen a sunbed dash like this one. There are clearly not enough for the complex and if you didn't get to it for 0900 then forget it you were not getting one that day. We managed to find a quieter pool where they weren't locked up but again you had to get up at the crack of dawn to get one of those. I can't comment on the food as we were self catering. The apartments were in Cala Egos and there were restaurants in the area but it was a little quiet for us so we got a taxi in to Cala D'or most evenings for about 6 Euros. You can walk it in about 30 minutes but it was far too hot whilst there to do that. The wifi was expensive at 36 Euros per 2 weeks per gadget. We would possibly return but only at a quiet time of year and only for a week.

Room Tip: If you like your sleep, ask for a quiet room away from the entertainment.
