we have just returned from a 10 day holiday at the palia Puerto del sol hotel, There were nine of us in our party and everyone enjoyed their holiday. The rooms were cleaned daily, and you get fresh towels daily, the food was very good compared to most all inc we've been to. There is a small beach within walking distance at cala egos or for 5 euro's you can book a taxi at reception, there are three other small beaches at cala d'or that is on the other side of the harbour and the majority of the walk is up hill, again you can book a taxi from reception approx 5 euro's. Both resorts have shops & restaurant's. you can also get the shuttle train outside reception to cala egos or to cala d'or both 4 euro's return. The down side to this hotel is that the hotel is built on a hill and access is quite poor if you are infirm are disabled, my daughter hired a push chair for my three year old grandson, but getting around is quite difficult there should be more ramps instead of steps having said that the bar staff allowed us to enter through the pool bar once we explained our difficulties.

Room Tip: There are no sea views at this hotel to my knowledge? however there are apartment's over looking the beautiful marina & the swimming pools The highest floor is the third floor and there are no lifts, so be warned?

We arrived at lunchtime and was shown to our room (362) by the woman on reception, who was extremely friendly and helpful.
After a quick look around and a drink at the pool/bar we had some lunch and it was beautiful, with loads of choice. We then spent our first afternoon at the adult pool chilling out after our early morning travel which was bliss. Yes there are no alcohol pumps there but there are soft drinks which you can help yourself to all day if you really wanted to. (Not sure why you need alcohol on tap around a pool anyway??)
I found that the staff were all helpful and worked non stop to make our holiday run smoothly. Our room was cleaned every day and fresh towels if we wanted. The restaurant staff were working from first thing in the morning to last thing at night but still smiling and friendly (not sure I would be).
Food was very good every day without fail, with lots of choice and plenty of drinks available too with all meals which you could help yourself to.
We had no queues to speak of at brekky, dinner or tea time, but we go in June to avoid school holidays so it's usually a little quieter then.
The only reason I have not given it 5 stars is that the internet was not free and the beach is a bit of a walk too (although I knew this before booking).
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a nice quiet all inclusive holiday to relax. We are a couple over 40 who like to go on holiday to relax by the pool and on the beach/sea and have a look around at different areas on an evening and have a few drinks. It ticked all those boxes.

Room Tip: Not sure you can choose a room but it depends if you like it quiet, we were at the top in the 300 block which was away from any hussle and bustle.

Family of 5, children age 11, 8 &4
Rooms excellent size and clean, maid service every day.
Food, was edible, not much variety, had to queue too much.
Entertainment was mainly for the French, animation team spoke only a small amount of English. We were made to feel like 3rd class customers due to this, Especially when the Mallorcan's came and spent the weekend.
Kids club very basic, my children went twice and spent the hours sat inside a room making loom bands or colouring.
This is a 3* hotel I know but I have stayed in better.
Good holiday had but will not return to Cala D'or.

Well, where do we start? Arrival. 10.15pm, stood with about 7 couples listening to reception arguing on the phone to the cook in Spanish. I am able to speak Spanish and clearly understood the fact that no food or drink was available. We get to the desk after 15 mins and were given room 341, a map and 50 Euro out of pocket. The map led us onto the main road, in darkness!
When we found our room we entered into a nightmare scenario and even I [very easy going] was getting flustered. I suggested to my wife that we should leave the unpacking and grab a drink [it had been a long 7 hours since leaving home].so we went to the disco bar only to be told that we had to pay for our drink after 10.30. We paid, drank up and left the disco/U/12 birthday party to go back to reception to ask for some food and was duly told to wait 15 mins. I had a cigarette outside and we were then shown to the eating area which resembled a school canteen with a few people tucking into some stale rolls, salami and cheese, we participated.
Following day. Started to unpack and opening the the wardrobes etc. I opened one and found it full of used sanitary items, used plasters and cotton buds. We went back to reception to report it and was told " we have certificates and you can go to another hotel " it was at this stage that the manager appeared and asked to see it. We took him to our room and showed him and he was gobsmacked! He took photos, and became very sheepish. A maid soon appeared and cleared the debris and soon after, a maintanance man came to put some light bulbs in for us.
This is NOT an all inclusive hotel. I have never had to queue for a cup of water or pay for a bottle and then be told im only allowed two!
The bar is next to the pool and this is the hub of activity along with small snacks situated next to the toilets, yep, thats right, the toilets.
Two other pools on the camp, one being an over 18s only. Neither of these pools serve alcohol or snacks.
The chill-out lounge is fab and overlooks a million dollar view but comes with another problem, it is only open from 10.30pm to 12.30pm and all drinks have to be paid for.
The rooms are dated and expect two single beds pushed together and plastic mattress covers [very sweaty]. Our room came complete with broken handles with exposed screw heads [very sharp], rusty fittings, broken glass windows, stained worktops and an air conditioning unit that did not work.
The walk into cala d'or takes a good 20 mins if you are fit, it is however quite a nice walk and expect a couple of steep streets. Cala D'or is lovely.
The good news for us was that Palia has a sister hotel in Cala Egos [20 min walk] and this is where we spent our time. They have the same wrist bands for A/I and they have a good sized bar near the pool and another bar in a quieter pool area [very nice] and fresh drinking water freely available and topping up your bottle was NOT an issue [take note palia del sol].
Drinks were served till 11 and the dinning was superb, it was however very busy, but coped. Thank you Palia Cala Egos.
On ending, I would rather die in a house fire than return to the Palia del sol. We have done all inclusive in Mallorca on other holidays and for cheaper and got far more bang for our dollar.
Those that enjoy this resort are either easily pleased or know no better.

Room Tip: Rooms at the bottom of the hill are near the pool and bar.

this hotel is in a great area of cala d'or,overlooking the beautiful harbour.although an old hotel it is spotlessly clean, air con[free],lovely pools one being adult only, and very big rooms due to it being a self catering hotel previously.you do have to rent kitchen utensils but it is an all inclusive hotel so would expect it.the maids are in the rooms daily for cleaning and towel change.the food was excellent, cooked well, hot, plenty of choice for everyone and varied daily.the staff was great, courteous, helpful and always smiling.entertainment crew was brilliant and worked very hard all day always doing things with the young ones.this is a french majority hotel but everyone spoke english so there are no barriers.would definetly go back again.we was 4 adults aged 54 to 62.

Room Tip: english bar 2 min away on the harbour for after all inclusive finishes
