Reviewed 28 May 2014

Just returned after one week at this hotel, really happy with it, great holiday had by all the family. Two parents, 7 year old and 4 year old. Rooms are great, very lkea look, only downside are the beds are very hard, but the hotel gave us mattress toppers. Only basic TV as well, no kids channels.( not a prob for us though) the pool is clean, big and great fun, shallow at one end! Sun beds a bit hit and miss. Beach minutes away but a steep hill. The hotel is about 5 min walk from ferrera strip which has a few restaurants, but keep walking into cala dor, really nice town with shops, bars, restaurants, ice cream! Then walk on to marina- just beautiful, Aquarius is amazing and good value. Looks like a five star restaurant and treated as such but price is no more than a mediocre one on the ferrera strip. We had a hire a buggy as you need to walk a fair bit. Overall a great holiday. Downside: all inclusive food a bit hit and miss, cooked well and tasty but small variety, alcohol is great though, good brands. Would def recommend this lovely hotel and place. Note: first all inclusive we have ever done as we always rent privately so was a gamble that paid off!) also, don't bother to hire car, busses are great and get speedy bus from airport not hopper!!

Stayed for a week half board as a family back in April, brilliant friendly service everywhere accept for the restaurant. Would recommend to stay just for B&B only as for restaurant - Rude staff , appalling food, poor choice. I guess shouldn't expect much for the value, but if they try to bring the standards up in the kitchen it would be great place to stay. Not toо far from town centre and a good spot for travelling around with the car.

I would just like to state, I have stayed in 2 star hotels before and I have NEVER complained.. Me and my 5 month pregnant Fiancé arrived shortly after midnight on Saturday 10th May to find the reception closed, with no access to a room for the night, was it not for the generosity of a neighbouring hotel receptionist we would have been left homeless for the night. We made our way back to the reception for 8AM when it was open, we as calmly as possible asked why we had been locked out the night before, the receptionist explained in a 'don't really care kind of fashion' that they didn't have a reservation and "are you sure you are staying here".. after he checked our reservation number he just explained 'we have your reservation, I just have not been given the information on this piece of paper". He then states we will be given an upgrade.. this is something I am pretty sure we was not given.. if we were I wouldn't be happy with the lesser rooms. The smell from the drainage/plugs was disgusting, the shower did not work, the entire shower unit and bath was rusty, the apartment stunk of damp and the balcony was tucked away between 2 walls minimal view and sunlight. We even come back to our apartment one day to find our bedroom door had been taken off and left outside the room by a handy man?! God knows why. We didn't eat at the hotel so I cannot comment there, the pool was nice although if you do not have access to the adult pool included in your room, you will have to pay for access by the day. One thing I will say is the location is perfect, local shops close by, 2 minute walk to the beach and 15 minute walk to Cala D'or Town Centre. All in all I would go back to Cala Ferrera.. Just not to this hotel.

Six of us stayed in two superior apartments all inclusive. Restaurant was only a minutes walk away and while the menu was limited, it was fine for just out three day stay. Pool was great but the little cove at the bottom of the hill was beautiful! We stayed in block B rooms 402 and 501 which were pool view and sunny most of the day. Staff were friendly and helpful. Cala d'Or is quiet but just enough to provide a gentle nightlife to keep us all drinking and laughing all holiday. Lovely!

We recently stayed at the Ferrera Bach Apartments and for the most part we were very happy. Our apartment itself was very spacious with a dining and kitchen area, lounge, balcony with a great view of the evening sunset (can't vouch for other rooms, some seem to suggest on here that they had no view at all) and a separate bedroom. Two single beds, individually made and pushed together wasn't ideal for a married couple but not the end of the world and the room service could do with a bit of tweaking - a "do not disturb" sign for the door wouldn't go amiss. Other than this we have no complaints and the facilities were great, particularly the shower.

On to the rest of the complex: nearly all of the staff were very friendly from reception, the shop, cleaners and staff at the pool bar. I've seen some people moaning on here about the selection of drinks available on the all inclusive deal and the fact that they stop at 11pm but we had no problems here, the selection was fine and most places stop all inclusives around this time.

The pool itself is unfortunately far too small for the amount of apartments with every sun lounger taken and people lined up like sardines by about 10am - and this is before the peak season. This makes for not the most relaxing atmosphere and we rarely spent any time there. Also, despite signs warning people against doing so, there were of course towels being placed down in the best spots even before breakfast.... sadly there was a second "adults only" pool but this required a daily payment to use, something we were not willing to do (neither was anyone else as it lay empty every day) and so we ended up just using the beaches which was fine as there are several in the area. One is just down some steps from the restaurant and there is another tiny little beach hidden away - if you fancy a walk there are at least two more beaches in Cala D'Or.

And now to the all-inclusive food...

We are not food snobs and we understand that all-inclusive style hot buffets are, by their nature, not fine dining. This is not a problem. I myself have worked as a chef in this kind of environment as well as more traditional kitchens including Spanish-owned ones and therefore understand the difficulties faced in mass catering...

...and we mean this with no malice, rather we hope it is taken as advice but some of the food was inedible. Not "average" or "not to our taste", inedible. Pork chops cooked to the point you could snap them in half, beef stroganoff where every piece of beef was just a lump of grizzle (the entire room had a pile of chewed meat left on the side of their plate, it was not just us), trays of bacon at breakfast burnt black, orange juice that was orange only in colour, not in content. Overall we spent an extra 300 Euros eating out as a result which was probably more enjoyable but not within our budget. I've seen on here that some people were offered the use of the menu if the buffet was not to their liking but sadly we weren't.

Sebastian, we urge you to either scrap the all inclusive and just serve food from the menu or improve the standard, even if it means adding a little to the price of the rooms.

All in all though, we had a lovely holiday.

Room Tip: You must visit "Bar Maria" just a few minutes walk away from the apartments - the best foo...

Firstly I would like to say that the apartments are immaculately clean. However we were put in the "cellar"were there wasn't any sunshine or natural light. Also there was a terrible smell in the apartment that I assume came from the drain right outside our hotel door. One night it was so bad I vomited. We were in room B102 and I wouldn't recommend this room. We were under the impression, on booking that we were staying in Cala Dor but on arrival we were advised we were staying in cala ferrara. Very pretty and clean place but full of Dutch (who I may say were wonderful but the fact that it was a German/Dutch resort was seriously reflected in the prices.) the food in the hotel was poor so we had to eat out every meal & we paid highly for this. The normal price (in Ferrara & cala dor) for a meal (no drinks or starters included) were 15 euros just for the mains or 9 euros should you want a pizza or burger) and they were nothing special. In the apartments the evening entertainment started at 10.30 (bingo or kareoke) but the all inclusive finished at 11pm then you had to pay for your drinks between 11pm & 12. We were told at 10.30pm one night that we couldn't have any more drinks as we had a table full. That was 6 x 1/2 lagers & 2 cokes. (4 adults one child) My husband complained to the manager as the bar maid didn't say it quietly and he was embarrassed! The enforced the "all inclusive rules straight to the second) When everywhere closed, there was nowhere else open unless u taxied into town (around 6 euros each way) if you have walking difficulties then Ferrara is certainly not for you there are steps everywhere. We were lucky with the weather during the day but it was cold at night so don't forget your cardy.
I would not recommend these apts to the British market who want to have a few drinks & a late night & good entertainment or good food. Find somewhere else in Majorca as we found this a bad choice and we arent really all that fussy

Stayed at Ferrera Beach Apartments 01/05/14 to 08/05/14 just me and the wife(mid forties couple). We requested a quiet room on a high floor preferably with afternoon sun on the balcony, the room we were allocated met our reqest perfectly (C403). Apartments are very modern inside, well equiped and have all you need to prepare a basic meal. Bathroom very contemporary with nice large, clean shower enclosure. Large screen TV with minimal English channels. Beds are a bit uncomfortable I'd advise to ask for matress topper which are available from reception. Cleaning and towel change every other day.
Our kettle packed in and was replaced the same afternoon. Nice pool area with enough sunbeds whilst we were there in early season. Could imagine it getting a bit tight in the middle of the season. Watch out for the Adults only pool area which features heavily in the photographs they want 10Euros pppw to use it. It looked very nice, we were not willing to pay the extra charge and saw no one using the facility all week. Its got to be a waste for the limited income it must bring in surely it would be better to make it free and use it as a selling incentive to older folk who like a nice peaceful time. We asked about the possibility of a late checkout as we had a late flight. Were told it was possible for 25Euros which was more than we had paid per night at time of booking. Again declined to pay any extra charges. To my mind they either need the room for incoming customers or they don't, as they didn't it would have been good customer relations to allow us a few additional hours gratis. All in all really enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to use these apartments again. Cala D'or and its neighbouring coves(cala Ferrera is one of them) are all within easy walking distance for the able bodied. The resorts there generally have a lot of steps and slopes and are therefore not ideal for anyone with mobilty difficulties. Eating out is good plenty of choice and nice quality but by no means cheap. I will review the particular restaurants we ate at seperately all were satisfacory some more so than others.
