My wife and I just spent 2 weeks at the Azul Playa. Our rooms were clean, comfortable and equipped with the basics of kitchen equipment. Service at the hotel was friendly and helpful.
The Pool Bar provided drinks etc, as well as some hot food at reasonable prices.
An abundance of restaurants and souvenir shops lie just up the street from the hotel, and the Cala Ferrara beach is about 50 yards downhill. The city centre of Cala d'Or is about a 15 min walk away, with even more restaurants and beaches.
There are a lot of stairs in this hotel, so people with walking issues might best look elsewhere. The only thing we missed were comfortable soft cushions for the balcony chairs. Two weeks of sitting straight on hardwood......oouch.

This hotel has two basement appartments - we stayed in one of them in June 2009. Steps everywhere around the hotel. Very poor appartment maintenance: damaged fridge, kitchen ventilator didn't work, dirty bath tub. Small appartment with corners everywhere. We travelled with Apollo, which rejected all complains - "You got what you paid for" (more than 3000 Euros), "You did not specify that you wanted balcony" (so we should be happy with a basement appartment!) . The hotel seems to have great roof restaurant - which was closed down in 2009. Apollo still claimed that the pool bar(!) is the best restaurant in Cala D'Or - with three tables and opening hours 11am-6pm and serves small dishes only.

We have been to Mallorca sereral times - this was our worst hotel experience - ever!

Alltogether we have 31 apartments, among them 11 that are gound-floor apartments. They have alltogether the same characteristics as the other apartments with the difference of a terrace instead a balcony. Two of those apartments are facing a sideway.

In accordance with our tour operator for many years, we have classified all apartments into three categories. The highest classified as Seaview Apartment, the second one as View Apartment and the third one as Apartment. The last category refers to the both mentioned apartments that view on the staircase.

We as a hotel don't know how they are being sold. We just have the agreement with the tour operator. People tend to oversee that classification when booking over the internet. We therefore recommend future guests to contact either your travel agency or us to make sure you get what you want and pay for.

The restaurant next to the apartments is called Coco Lounge and was open in 2009. It merely was closed several months in 2010 but re-opened with a new menu and is open since.

Room Tip: Att undvika de lägre etagen, eftersom hotellet är av typ suterräng. Hiss saknas.
