There is a great deal to like about this hotel. It is beautifully located on a fantastic beach; it is spotlessly clean; the rooms are nice-sized and comfortable; the host (Juan) is extremely helpful. I recommend the ocean view rooms with lovely balconies.
A few hints: the hotel is quite remote, although there are two restaurants and a small store at the beach. Although taxis and a bus are available, I would recommend renting a car. There are no ATMs nearby, so take lots of cash with you. Also, unusual for US standareds, the hotel provides soap and shamoo only for the first night, so pack some.
It's the perfect place for a quiet, restful stay (although Mallorca has LOTS to see). I'd definitely go again, but I'd be better prepared.

Room Tip: Room 04 for 1-2 persons. Half-board was good.

The location is fabulous. It is the best beach in Mallorca. Our room overlooked the beach and you could hear the surf breaking at night. This is not a luxury hotel. However, it is a very nice family run 2 star establishment. The staff were great particularly the young lady who ran the restaurant single handed! The food was good but not great. You had no choice in the evening although they would cook something else if you did not like the main course. I thought the choice at breakfast was very good for a small hotel. It was a lovely atmosphere and everyone was very friendly. Value is only 3 stars because this hotel cost nearly double what we paid the following week in a 4 star hotel, where we happened to get a particularly good deal.

Just spent a night in this wonderful little 2 star hostal. It's right by the beach and the rooms have seaviews. It's a beautiful location in the Mondrago natural park. You drive down a roughish road to the little cove which has a walk around to another lovely beach.
The hotel isn't particularly special apart from the location. The rooms and public areas could benefit from a complete refurb and modernisation but this aside the place is lovely. The hotel is family owned and we were greeted by the son (Juan) who was extremely friendly and helpful. We were travelling by scooter and it was raining so he suggested we use his private garage! His mum then cooked us a lovely lunch of typical Mallorcan dishes. It was a little chilly so they put us in the conservatory with a patio heater. They couldn't do enough for us and we were made to feel part of the family. The room was basic but adequate with a huge terrace overlooking the sea. Breakfast was an extended buffet of everything you could want and once again the service was super. Talking to other guests we found they had all stayed many times before. There was also internet access, parking and a swimming pool. We will definitely be going back and would recommend it.

Despite what the last reviewer stated, yes parking at the hotel is more difficult than it used to be but it did not spoit out stay.
The hotel is family run and has many repeat guests like ourselves which speaks volumes.
Excellent facilities for a two star rated hotel, i've stayed in many three star hotels that aren't a patch on this.
Hotel is on the doorstep of two of the best beaches on the island and there are plent of walks close by too!
Overall excellent value for money and we will certainly be returning again.

We have stayed at this hotel many times and have had a great stay as its right on the beach and has a pool so best of both worlds.

BUT.. things have changed and the previously private road to the hotel and the hotel car park has now been opened up to the public and that makes the road outside the hotel like the M25 from 9 til 9. The car parking is a joke, there are maybe 10 spaces at the hotel the rest are in the car park 20 yds away, but thats full by 10.30am, and even the police tow cars away for blocking the buses. We saw cars having bumpers smashed and door caved in just so people could park. One day we were blocked in from 9 till past 7pm....by three layers of cars. The hotel owners are mad abou the openeing of the road as its putting guests off, including us.

The hotel is clean and the owners are good, the breakfast is edible...just. The staff are friendly and helpful.

BUT... don’t stay in rooms 4-11 as they are above the bar and pool table area and when, as we did, you have circa 10 pre adolescent teenagers staying at the hotel from one group its a nightmare, especially when the adults think its OK for 9-12 yr olds to be running around at 1am in the morning. My 8 yr old was trying to sleep at that time and the hotel can be very very noisy.

Shame as it could be a perfect hotel.

The 2 beach bars serve very good food.

Overall worth staying at for the beach, but remember weekends are extremely busy and the hotel does suffer with noise issues.

I've visited Hostel Playa Mondrago twice and I know I'll be returning forever. It is just perfect for a holiday when all you want to do is enjoy Mallorca for what it is. It's a beautiful, family oriented, friendly, welcoming, and simple place. The hotel is small, and not at all luxurious, but perfectly clean, and extremely comfortable. Recently TV's and Air Con have been added to most rooms, which in some eyes is an improvement, but not neccessary.
The setting in the Parc Naturale de Mondrago, right on the amazing white sands leading to the crystal clear azure sea is perfect. Leave your hectic home lives behind and relax, and enjoy Mallorca the Mallorcan way. Days on the beach, walking in the parkland, or at the amazing market at Santanyi, followed by an afternoon nap on the terrace. Then in the evening a few drinks at the hotel bar, followed by a delicious meal on the beach (at Jose's/Hose's) followed by a large Brandy, while watching the sunset. What more could you ask of a holiday?
Just don't come here if you're an adreneline junky! AND don't tell anyone like that about this place, it's charm is in it's simplicity and easy living.
