“A hidden gem, a perfect location for a great holiday”
Reviewed 18 November 2013

A great location in a lovely protected natural park. Wonderful Mallorcan cooking and great hospitality. There's a secluded swimming pool and garden on a raised terrace, it's a perfect spot for a very relaxing break. The beach is a short stroll away, lovely clear water and there are great walking trails through the woods. It's a great base for exploring some traditional local Mallorcan towns and villages on the South West side of the island.

Room Tip: Go for a room on the top floor - stunning views across to the coast.

delicious food, excellent service at the hotel, friendly hosts and useful information regarding busus / taxis to explore the local area.

The hotel was very clean, with beds made daily, towels changed and the bathroom cleaned

The hotel is in a lovely location with a very clean pool and tranquil surroundings.

My fiance and I holidayed together. We think the hotel is best suited to couples, older travellers or families. If you want entertainment this is NOT the place for you. the busier resorts half an hour further upthe coast have bars and entertainment. But if you just want a relaxing holiday and a swim in the sea with your loved ones, I would recommend this as the place to be!

Room Tip: they are all nice, all with a balcony and all positioned overlooking the pool

Can't agree more with the reviews below really - what a gem of a hotel, and so glad we booked it.

The staff are so friendly and accommodating- and can't do anymore to help you. They let us keep the bags in the room until 6pm and use the room if we needed to, even though we checked out at 12; I've never heard of a hotel doing this before.
It is basic, but in a lovely traditional Spanish way - the rooms are cleaned everyday and the rest of the public areas are all spotless. You couldn't really ask for a more fantastic location.. so close to the beach and although limited; there is a couple of hotel bars, and a convenience shop.

This is not the hotel to stay at if you want a buzzing nightlife and loads of activities, but that was ideal for us. A perfect relaxing getaway away from tacky tourist holidays - Cala Dor seems crass and ugly in comparison to Cala Mondrago. The beaches are stunning and never too busy to get a spot. Due to the remote location I was worried about food choices but even as a vegan I didn't struggle TOO much here with the food. There was always bread, jam and fruit juices. The evening meals always had salad and the soup was always vegetarian. If you are vegetarian there is a fantastic veggie restaurant in Cala Ferrera called 'Treff Bio' and we went numerous times because it was so great!

The *only* complaint was no air conditioning, but to be expected with the price really! We left the balcony door open and it wasn't too loud. All the rooms have a balcony, ours overlooked the national park and was really special.

As expected the prices in restaurants and hotel bars are a little more expensive than the local towns, but not too bad considering the remoteness and what you get at the location. Porto Petro is a 10 min bus journey or a 30 minute walk and they have some lovely restaurants on the harbour front there which makes a nice change.

Majorca is simply stunning.. and we hope to return one day!

Thankyou Condemar!

Just back from a week staying at the Condemar.I can certainly agree with other peoples views that this should definately be rated higher than a 1*.We went half board and were never hungry, there was chicken, pork, pasta, potatoes(variety of different ways) always salad. The whole hotel is spotlessly clean as is the pool. The location is fantastic, great walks around the national park with some stunning scenery and beautiful beaches to match. If you want something more commercial a taxi to Cala D'or was around 9euros,very busy in the evenings. We will definately go back and stay again. My only critisism would be the walls are very thin and we had two nights of horrendous snoring in the next room! Take some earplugs!

My sister, her 12 year old daughter and myself have just returned from a week at the Condemar, staying on a bed and breakfast package. I totally agree with Emma Bollen's review. The hotel is far better than 1*. It even has a lift so we didn't need to haul our cases up to the 2nd floor. My sister and I were given rooms next to each other and there was even a door between the 2 which was very useful. The whole hotel is spotless, the rooms are cleaned every day and the staff can't do enough for you. Without asking they offered to let us keep one of our rooms till 5pm on our checkout day as they had no one coming to that room. I have never had a hotel offer that without expecting to be paid something for the extra hours. The breakfast is served between 8 and 10 and even coming down late one morning at 9.45 there was still plenty of food; cereals, yoghurt, toast, jams, croissants, 3 different rolls, cheese slices, cream cheese, ham and hard boiled eggs plus tea, coffee, juice etc. Lunch is between 1 and 2.30 and has all the basics and then dinner is 8 till 9.30. I would say that the hotel is one of only 2 in this location and so you need to take the bus or a taxi to nearby towns/ resorts if you want a bit of variety. The bus goes regularly every day except Sunday and is cheap though taxi fares are reasonable and there is a bus timetable and taxi cost chart on reception. The hotel will order taxis for you. The rooms do not all have air con. Ours didn't but we took fans with us. However apparently reception will hire them out at 3 euros a day. The pool at the hotel is lovely and even in August there were never really more than about 12 people round it. The nearby beach is pretty busy and the bar is expensive. There were no Mosquitos either - always a result.
We did find bar prices quite high. Almost 3 euros for an ice lolly, 4 and a half euros for a vodka and orange, 3 and a half for a large beer but then with the pound being weak against the euro we expected that. Prices in Cala d'or were much cheaper ...... But I wouldn't want to sat there!!
All in all a lovely, relaxing week.

My daughter and I stayed for 1 week at this hostel this August. This should be a 3* not a 1*. We were greeted at 3.30am by a lovely friendly gentleman. The rooms were basic but nothing we hadn't expected. Everywhere was clean always.
The food was basic but fresh. We expected this and were alwAys full. There is a bar menu for lunch and dinner if u do go B and B.
the beach is sooooo close and so gorgeous!
Pedalos, clear water and the bay is beautiful for scenic walking by the coast,
The hotel staff were always friendly and helpful, always prepared to give info.
There us a small shop by the beach which was a nice surprise,
There is a bus service by beach running as far as cala d'or throughout the day. So cheap and worth a trip to a different bay.
If u want a quiet break this is the place to go. It's not commercialised in any way,
If u are after a peaceful Hols this is the ace to go,
Also there is free wifi in the bar area which I hadn't expected.

Yes I would definitely come again because I was expecting a quiet, Hols without the frills. People saying its basic, what were you expecting? Never stayed below a 3* and this proved how lovely a hostel can be.
An amazing area of majorca to visit
Thank you comedar

This is a 1 star hotel and should be judged accordingly. Anyone wanting 3 or even 4* food and air-con in the rooms should look elsewhere. If however, you wish to fins a place that is impeccably clean and well-maintained, in a an ideal location and with staff who are always friendly, helpful and full of advice then this is the place for you. True, the food is uneventful and a little boring. I doubt I could have done longer than a week on half board basis but it was perfectly acceptable. The soups were very nice, bread always fresh etc. Breakfast always included good coffee, fresh fruit and I usually ate a bread roll or croissant.
This was perfect for the £340 we paid for 2 of us - IN TOTAL! we did not expect the Ritz but were happy to have found such a good little place that does exactly what it says on the tin. The pool and grounds are lovely and clean and prices for drinks and ice creams reasonable in what is a very pricey small resort.
To improve, I suggest the hotel offers fans for the rooms in the summer months, they are just too warm and there is little respite and too much noise when windows are opened. There are small flat screen tvs in the rooms, I feel a better investment would have been fans.
We probably won't return, but only because Cala Mondrago is so astronomically expensive; we spent most of our days in Cala Ferrera where the suprmarket and cafes are half the price of the one attached to playa Mondrago.
