“A good short break”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a 5 night break over 23rd to 27th June, having booked a last minute deal through teletext holidays. The transfer to the hotel from the airport was around 2 and a half hours each way. A bit longer than we would have liked but you just have to make the most of things. We were allocated a room in the annexe on the ground floor. If I am honest I was a little disappointed that we were not in the main hotel but we were only going to be there for 5 days and didn't intend to spend much time in the room anyway. It was comfortable, clean and lovely and quiet, downside was the air conditioning which was pretty useless. The safe was quite expensive in my opinion, 25 euros for the 5 nights plus 10 euro deposit.
The hotel in general is clean, the staff were very friendly and worked hard. The food was nice, but did get repetitive even for the 5 days, had we been there for a fortnight we would have most definitely eaten out a few times!
On the whole, we enjoyed our stay and would consider going back again but would not want to stay in the annexe. If I had one criticism it is that there are no way near enough parasols, plenty of beds but parasols are fixed to the floor and people are reserving them with towels from 6:30am, there were families with very young children struggling to find some shade around the pool.

We stayed at this hotel for 10 night. On arrival we were told that our room was not ready untill about 2pm. Totally acceptable as we arrived early at 11 am. We put our bags in the baggage store. (Word of warning, this room is not very secure as the door is opened electronically by the reception, all you need to do is ask and they will let you in. You could take any bag you wanted). We had a look aroung and decided on drinks on the terrace at the back of the hotel. All very nice and clean. aAfter waiting a while we went to check in. this is where things started to go down hill. We paid for an extra large room with a sea view. What we got was a very small room in the annex. (this is a building 1 min away from the hotel). The view was of the sea but that is all you could see as we were on the ground floor and the balcony was like a cave in the rocks. Still we dont go on holiday to stay in the room. The first night was sleepless and the air con, as previously mensioned in other reviews, did not work. i spoke to reception who could not belive this but i insisted on chaning rooms, but was told there was none available so to come back on thursday. This was tuesday. So 2 very restless nights later we changed rooms to the main building and a better view. Unfortunatly the room was even smaller and the air con was only slightly better but bareable. We decided not to cause anymore fuss. (Note to hotel. the air con in our friends room was ice cold so we had something to compare it to).
The food wasnt as bad as we were expecting. Breakfast was from 8 till 10 and we always got a table and the food was ok apart from the bacon which i though was fatty even for spanish standards, lunch and dinner seemed the same, we always managed to get a table and the food was ok. we always managed to make a meal. i only had one night when the meal was bad and that was veal. It was so tough i couldnt even bite through it. Our friends what we were with had a few dished that were not cooked aswell. As for the temperature, that was hit and miss. sometimes it was hot sometimes cold. I think the standard of the food in the main resturant was about a 2.5 star standard. no show cooking, Although on a wednesday there was a huge paella cooked by the pool which was very good, no soft drinks, very little childrens choice, very poor fresh fruit selection and for some reason cheese and biscuits were always served and lunch and not dinner,
the pool bar served the usual snacks, chips, burgers and tosted sandwhiches etc, these were always freasly cooked and tasted fine. A bit of a silly rule, there was a 3 drink per customer maximum. This proved a little annoying as we were a group of 5. I would like to know the logic behind this rule as the bar people knew we were in a group of 5 but insisted on me queing up twice to get drinks for all of us.
Drinks were ok but there was no baileys/ irish knight on the all inclusive menu.
Nighttime entertainment was of the usual 3 star standard. childrens disco followed by bingo then about an hour of either semi professional acts or the usual man verses women rubbish.
sun beds didnt seem too much trouble. I am an early riser so i was always up and about at 8 ish to go and get the sunbeds when they were unlocked. this time depended on when the mainatainace men finished their duties. it usully ranged from between 8.10 to 8.50. The usual sun bed hoggers were at the hotel or should i say parasol hoggers were at this hotel with some reserving parasols at 6.30 in the morn. I dont think there is a problem in doing this when you stay by the parasol but all of them were returning to their room and not showing their faces till 10. The hotel should really sort this out as there are signs not to reserve sun beds but nothing ever done about it. Easy fix. Remove all towels from unocupied parasols or sunbeds untill 10 am. that way its fair for all.
location of the hotel is not far from the beach. a short strole down some uneven steps and a ramp will get you on the beach in about 4-5 mins. not easy if you have a buggy of are not too good on your feet. it is situated on a very wind corner of the island though so bring a jumper if you feel the cold as it can get chilly at night.
the beach is very small and got crowded very quickly.
Overall i would not return to this hotel as there were just too many little things that were wrong, eg given the wrong room, no baileys (my fav drink), and not much choice of food.

i do have to agree with one of the last reviews on here, there is a problem with overbooking. we spoke to 3 people while we were there that this had happened to. It resulted in them staying in a hotel up the road for a few days to then be allowed to check in. excuses varied from bookings not being recieved from tour operator to the hotel giving away the room as the flight was delayed and they didnt think they would show up. ( i think this was made worse by the french air traffic control strike making people days late rather than hours) but i personally can not see any excuse as if you paid for your room it is yours for the duration of your stay regardless if you are late.
i do hope that the person that replies to these reviews from the hotel does actually read them. i find it hard to belive they do as there are still a lot of problems here that were reported last year that are still a problem now.

Room Tip: try to get a high room in the main biulding

Just back from an almost perfect week at this hotel. We had a lovely bright modern room on the 7th floor with great views of the sea from the balcony. Beautiful big shower, small fridge, flat screen TV (for those that like to watch TV). However all rooms have a sea view which I think is a big plus for this hotel.
We were all inclusive and found the food choice and quality to be very good at breakfast, lunch and dinner and cannot comprehend anyone who didn't find something to enjoy at each meal. You can help yourself to wine, beer, water and soft drinks at mealtimes. Although restaurant is busy particularly at certain times we never had much of a problem finding a table. All staff were incredibly hardworking, helpful and pleasant throughout the hotel and it is kept spotlessly clean.
There are two beaches and we chose to spend our days on the farthest one as it's a little quieter but they are both beautiful little coves with clear turquoise water - absolutely stunning. The pool area seemed to be well facilitated and there are several areas around the hotel where you can find a sunbed.
Can't comment on the hotel entertainment as in the evenings we chose to go for walks along the seafront and visit the shops and bars which are a short walk from the hotel. Some of the bars had good entertainment such as small bands and Spanish dancing. Our evening drinking local cocktails at one of these bars cost about 30 euros.
Overall our experience of this hotel and it's location is a very pleasant one and we hope to return and enjoy again.
We have tried to think of anything that we feel could be improved and our only criticism was that as we had a very early morning departure we were given what they call a 'cold breakfast' at reception (which is in a paper bag, so no hot drink) and we would have preferred an area where we could have sat and had tea or coffee and just maybe toast, biscuits or a savoury snack.
We would like to finish by thanking everyone who works at this hotel whose hard work contributed to making this a memorable holiday.

Room Tip: Worth upgrading to the upper floors. Views stunning and rooms lovely.

Just came back from 10 days in Hotel "Globales" America. Came here 10 years ago and it was abysmal, but thought with the name change it may be better... how wrong i was!
After arriving at the hotel at 2.30pm, we checked in and went to the restaurant before going to our rooms. The food available was cold, but we didn't think anything of it as it was the end of service. Unfortunately, this was a common theme throughout our stay. The variety of food was limited... veal and fish everyday in various forms. Some days the veal was so undercooked it could have walked off the counter. Sausages and burgers seemed cooked on the outside but raw on the inside! One day we watched the chef bring a 'freshly cooked' batch of food and place it into the tray using nothing more than a paper napkin in each hand. At breakfast, coffee would have been hotter if you made it in your room with the shower. Fortunately we had a saving grace in the dining room... the microwave!
The room was great, comfortable beds, fresh decoration, mini fridge to cool soft drinks bought from the local shop, tele on the wall, sea view and a nice shower. Plenty of storage space. Beds were made and bathroom cleaned daily, but strangely in 10 days the floor was not cleaned once. To add insult to injury, 7 days into our stay, we were locked out of our room. After going down to reception and informing of this, i was asked if i "was sure" that i was staying for 10 days, without even checking on the computer first. After finally checking, i had the room key re-issued and was told "most people only stay for 7 days" - hardly the apology i was looking for.
Again, this is a common theme within the hotel, the staff don't care that you are a paying customer, waiting to be served at the bar while the bar staff having a conversation is a common problem.
As an all-inclusive hotel, it certainly has it's way of getting more out of people. You can pay 20 euros for the tv remote (which you can use without), and if you want to keep anything safe then you're better off swallowing it. We paid 52 euros for 10 days for the safe and got 10 euros back at the end of our stay.
The only thing that made this hotel more bareable were the local buses, allowing you to get back to reality and some decent hot food.

Room Tip: Rooms on floors 7 or 8 are big with good sea view. Floors 1 to 6 have yet to be decorated and are cr...

My wife and I stayed here from Early Monday 23/06/14 until departing Friday 27/06/14 afternoon.
Excellent stay from begining to end.
We arrived Monday morning at approx 02:00,delayed by Ryan Air and after a 90 mins transfere journey. There was a terrible thunderstorm on arrival in Mallorca, the taxi driver assured us that it was nothing to worry about... he was right. The next morning when we woke there were clear skies.
We were checked in by the freindly night receptionsit who explained everything to us.
We had requested a room on the seventh floor as it had been updated, we were not dissapointed, very modern with excellent pool and Sea views. Bathroom had a large shower room that served out needs very well. The only slight critisism is that there is no room numbers at the start of the corridors to tell you which way to go so at 02:00 in the morning is is a bit confusing.
We missed breakfast on the first morm,07:00 - 10:00, shame as it was very good each morning.
There is a bar by the pool that you can order burgers, hot dogs and toasties - this made up for missing breakfast.
A short 5 mins walk takes you to the bars and shops, plenty of nice shops and bars to visit.
A short walk down approx 34 steps then a walk down a ramp takes 10 mins and you are on the beach. The beach is ideal for adults and kids alike, the sand slopes out safely and is easy for non swimmers to spend hours in. €12.40 gets you two sunbeds and a parrasol for the day, free WiFi on the beach, ask the attendant for the code.
The bar is privately owned and not in the all inclusive, prices are reasonable.
The night entertainment in the hotel was only experienced by us as we were on the beach during the day, this was average with a Jackson tribute and and Motown tribute night, preceeded by bingo.
In summary: Hotel is very clean ,ideally situated and freindly staff. Well worth the money, would reccomend and will return.

Room Tip: Ask for sixth seventh or eighth floor as the have been refurbished

The Hotel America in Calas de Mallorca has a major problem with overbooking for the rest of the summer season.

On arrival, guests are being bumped for 1 or 2 nights to either the Hotel Club Cala Romani, Hotel Samoa or to other Globales hotels 30 minutes away in Cala Millor.

My advice is, before travel email their reception and seek confirmation that you are not one of those who they plan to bump.

given a room on 8th floor after waiting for 1 hour we booked a superior room only to find that the
room was narrower on the last two on end of corridoor the last two on all 8 floores were like this.
The hotel has rules that long trousers must be worn only to find nobody took any notice of it you at to look to find someone who was,at the pool a sign states that no towels to be left on sunbeds but supries supries if you didn't you wouldn't get one, in the hall out side of restaurant there was a buggy park no pushchairs in resturant but when we were sat near door a women came in with one and parked it right by the side the food waste trolly the waitress never said a thing to her so all the rules in this hotel nobody takes anynotice of them.and they are not enforced
pool area was clean and there was a lot of sunbeds view to sea was great all rooms had good views to sea
the food in restaurant was 3 star no display chef all food came from kitchen if you wanted english breakfast very basic fried eggs were always cold and scrambled eggs cold a saled bar was always the same all day lunch had fish, pork, spaghetti dishes, chips jacket potatoes a few other things very basic, evening menu was just as uninspiring always fish ,pork, chips and a few other things desert food was quite good all the usal things but had the displeasure of seeing a 9 year old boy licking the gataeu spoon at table didn't touch that we have had better in other hotels that didn't look has good as this one
there are two bars a lounge bar at front of hotel the other at poolside there is a big pizza restaurant on way down to pool no alcohol in here only soft drinks overall a good hotel spoilt because of poor food choice and no chef cooking fresh food if they did this it would be the best
