We went over mayday bank holiday for 5 days.It was an excellent hotel with nice pool area plenty of sunbeds around the pool and gardens. You could have sunbeds in the gardens outside your bungalow if you wanted. The room was a little dated with no air conditioning but spotless and perfectly adequate.the star of the show was the beach. It was a lovely cove with fine white sand and sunbeds that were not cheap but it was delightful. The beach was a short distance from the bar and restaurant but dependant on which room you were in could be a decent walk .It is best to have a low number room as you will then be closer to the action. If you have a problem walking far it pays to ask for room closer to the restaurant. The food was excellent with lovely fresh fish at lunch and dinner and the all inclusive worked quite well with reasonable wine and decent quality alcohol available. The food was quite spanish which suited us but might not suit everyone. However the salads were lovely and whatever your taste you could have a nice meal. The hotel had just opened so there were a few things you could fault but nothing major.
Altogether a lovely holiday and a standard of service you would expect from a RIU hotel

Room Tip: To be close to beach and restaurant you need a room numbered under 20

On arrival we were given room 152 i was worried were going to be at the far end of complex but after a very short journey in the mini bus i was very pleasently surprised. The bungalow was lovley with a pretty garden & sunloungers. Room was clean airy with plenty of drawers & hanging space. Tho the tv only had sky news we never botherd with it. You pay 10€ for safe but this is refundable. No kettle but i had allready taken my own. We never used the mini bus as it was a nice walk but they are very happy to move you if your not happy so dont worry. We bought a bottle of water then used the refil station at side of snack bar to top up daily on our way back to room on an afternoon. I did feel there was a poor choice of food in restaurant but i give 10/10 for snack bar. We only there 1 week & did get repetative. Sea was beautiful it could get a bit seaweedy but only like that onece & we went everyday. Pool is ok lots of loungers no problem getting a bed. All in all had a relaxing holiday. Value for money at£750 for us both. We were able to keep our room for €20 but evening meal not included in restaurant so we ate in snack bar, which was better anyway. They do not take or ask you to remove your all inc wrist band. Dont worry about negative comments if you are then pay more & go 5*

Me and my partner have just returned yesterday after a weeks stay at this hotel and we had a great time from start to finish. We booked to go for my birthday and I had a great day and week the hotel had a bottle of champagne and flowers waiting on my table in the restaurant when we went down for dinner in the evening very nice surprise also got a card and some sweets from the cleaners even had a letter delivered to me from the reception team wishing me a happy birthday very impressed. Our room was very nice we stayed in room 28 excellent location right next to the pool and facing the pool bar plenty of sun beds but it did get really busy around the pool but this wasn't a problem as we got two sun beds on the grass right outside our room. The beach was nice only a short walk away plenty of sun beds but you do have to pay because it doesn't belong to the hotel. The food in main restaurant and the snack bar was very nice there was always something that you could find to eat plenty of choice we really enjoyed it the staff in the main restaurant were fab so friendly and really worked hard thank you guys.Drinks were very good had some nice cocktails and the spirits were nice and strong ha! Guys in the salon bar in the evening were great very funny and the entertainment team were very good they work very very hard day and night to entertain everyone.Overall we had a really nice relaxing week at The Riu Tropicana and for the price we paid £350 each all inclusive for a week was a bargain I would recommend this hotel and we would stay there again.Just one moan and this isn't about the hotel it's about the THOMSON REP at the hotel this young lady was very unprofessional and gave out the impression she didn't want to be there the welcome meeting was a joke and we got up and walked out half way through I think she needs to be retrained in her customer service skills, something needs to be done thomsons we are the paying customer remember.

Room Tip: Email hotel before going and request a bungalow between 1-100 I did and stayed in 028 excellent room in a great location next to the pool and facing pool bar

Just returned from one week all inclusive holiday. Our first experience with all inclusive, however must say really impressed. Little bungalows was your accommodation and just as previous reviews advised we emailed the hotel direct for a room under 100 as the complex is so vast you could find it quite a walk to get to the amenities. There is however a minibus that constantly runs you back n forth around the complex.bungalows had everything you would need and beds comfortable.
Food , really impressed, very organised, breakfast and lunch can go anytime between 8-10.30 and lunch 12.15-2.30, is buffet style but a really good choice. Dinner, you were given a choice of 2sittings 7.15 or 9.15 and you were allocated a specific table, which was good as nobody every struggled to find seating. Evening meals were always fresh cooked never standing cooks were cooking as you were watching so fresh. The staff were very attentive and clean took pride in their job and cleared plates immediately.
Drinks , well you couldn't"t ask for any more it run from 10.30 till 1am . And they would serve you anything you fancied.
Entertainment was your typical holiday choices but really impressed with the kids club although we had no kids they always kept the kids busy , day and night.
This hotel is situated right on the beach, just a little cove beach but very nice clear blue waters.a small walk over the rocks about 10mins you were in the toen where there was a good number of shops and bars. Better if all inclusive as not a lot of restuarants tho. Free wifi in most bars we mostly went to grand central where the food and meals we saw served were really good.
I would not hesitate to return to this hotel, very good value for money my only criticism would be that you had to pay 3euros 1hr for wifi, 5 for 3hours and 15euros for the week, who in 2014 pays for wifi it should be included with your hotel package.

Room Tip: Definitely contact hotel, I did and was given room 69, not too close to reception and business but great distance to get to everything.

Just returned from a week away with my boyfriend - both a young couple, despite the weather it was a pretty decent holiday.
Nothing to do around this resort as all the other resorts are far away, taxis are expensive. However, there is a cliff path which you can walk around. 2 glass bottom boats come daily, twice a day to the beach across the cliff (2 minute walk away). Little shop by the reception, where you can buy souvenirs, food, drink etc.

Not suitable for disabled people, it's a big resort with loads of steps, even though there is a mini bus that drives around sometimes it's full and people don't let you on.

Food was the same every night, plenty to offer and the drinks were well measured (especially if your a young couple). Went to the beach every day, due to the pool being full and full of children. 12.40€ for parasol and 2 Sunbeds, 8.20€ for just two Sunbeds, overpriced but better than laying on the sand.

Rooms are very basic but it's all you need. No refrigerator or kettle, however there is a safe which you pay 10€ or 20€ (can't remember) to use and get it back at the end of the holiday.

Good entertainment in the evening, mini golf, kayaking (free for all inclusive).

Overall good holiday, wouldn't return again
