“Beautiful, tranquil retreat. Perfect for a relaxing break”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 October 2011

I have just returned from a 4 night break at the lovely Barcelo Albatros and I can honestly say, it is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed at, and I travel a lot.
It is not too big, therefore there it is not teeming with people. The food was really good and reaasonably priced for a hotel and the the service was good.
Sunbeds were always available and very comfortable for pool beds.
it is not in the centre of Illetas but there is a supermarket and a couple of shops right outside along with a couple of bars. Illetas is walkable and Port Portals, a cab ride away is well worth a visit. Especially the Cappuchino Bar - best pasta I have ever had!

The views from the superior sea view rooms are definately worth the extra money. Do not hesitate to book one of these if you are deliberating. In fact the views from the restaurant and the pool are just stunning.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would highly reccommend this hotel.
The fact it is adults only too is just heaven!

I will be back.

Room Tip: upgrade to a sea view room.

We were very impressed with this hotel. The hotel was tastefully decorated and the bedrooms have enormous comfy beds and waterfall showers. The bed for a third person in a room is just a bed settee with a really uncomfortable mattress which was disappointing and to be honest that was our only gripe, but the maid brought an extra mattress topper, which, though not perfect, was an improvement. The breakfasts were good with lots of choice but the dinners were variable, not always terribly warm and not always a good selection for veggies.
We loved the pool area which was quiet and we never had any problem getting sunloungers (thank goodness!) The balanese beds were available for hire, but at 60e per day we thought that it was a bit steep even when that included a bottle of fizz and some fruit.
The hotel was fairly empty and there wasn't much to do, which suited us just fine but if you are looking for somewhere with a lot of nightlife then this isn't the place for you. The staff were excellent and very helpful and the hotel was spotlessly clean.

As said in the title, this was a mini break for me and my wife, away from the everyday stresses giving us a chance to spend some quality time away as 2 adults instead of being "Mummy and Daddy".
This hotel really didnt dissapoint, we arrived from the airport which is only 15-20 minutes away to a very warm welcome, the room wasnt available but this gave us the opportunity to drop our bags and have a walk around the resort to familiarise ourselves to the area.
After a couple of hours we returned and felt instantly at home, the suitcase had already been taken to our room.
The room we stayed in was a Superior, which was very clean and had a very modern design. I have read other reviews stating that the loo is part of the room, this is nonsense, the shower and toilet are seperate and also seperate to the room, the basin is in the room but this is not really an issue, i think they have used the space in the room extremely well.
This room also had a balcony overlooking the sea.
The pool area was a very relaxing place to be, with great views and also very quiet, with only the sound of the sea to fall to sleep to. We were lucky enough to have a complimentary day on the double sun beds, pure heaven.
The restaurant looked nice and the prices didnt seem over priced, however we ate out and found a stunning little restaurant, 10 mins walk, left out of the hotel opposite the entrance to the little coved beach, next to an Itallian teraced restaurant (not sure what it was called) very traditional and extremely friendly.
Palma is also very close by, only 15 mins using the local buses which never seem to stop.
All in all it would be very difficult to find any fault with this hotel, a charming little resort that we can't wait to come back to.
Thanks to everyone at the Barcelo Albatros for making our stay the relaxing and enjoyable break we were hoping for.

Room Tip: We had room 507, a Superior room which being on the 5th floor gave us a great view out to sea.

Stayed here on a girls break for 4 nights. The rooms are quite nice, recently refurbed but lacking in a few practicalities... No drawers, we had 2 live out our suitcase for our smalls, bikinis, tops etc. I can see how the bathoom set up won't suit everyone & the beds are very hard although good quality. Housekeeping are efficient & polite, brought me an extra quilt & pillow that reception said i couldnt have! The hotel location is good, only 10 mins from Palma, hotel is quite noisy, Walls thin & housekeeping dragging beds around woke us up every morning from 8.30am. pool area is quite nice although there are some areas leading down to the sea that are a bit shabby. Breakfast is good but you have to get your own tea & coffee from the machines. only ate in the pool bar once, it was just ok, not much choice. That's where all the few positives about this hotel end... Service is appalling, there was never any staff round the pool for drinks & towel change (which was strictly once every 3 days!!) their policies are very anal & some of the staff are blatant liars... This is a NO hotel... Everything we asked for in this hotel was a NO, from extra bedding, to extra pool towels, fresh towels, keeping the room for an extra 2 hours on our last day... Barcelo will also charge you for lots of things I feel should be free... The room safe, the pool cabana's... We asked to use the cabana's on our second day, we were told €60 each Inc btl of cava & fruit. We negotiated a rate of €30 just for the bed but over the weekend we realised noone else had paid 4 the cabana's. On our last day my sister was unwell & needed our room for an extra couple of hours. The guy on reception said we couldn't keep it, the hotel was fully booked. He didn't care that my sister was ill with food poisoning, he became really angry saying he had guests that need the room. He eventually said well I have no choice but you will be charged €25. I brought up the cabana issue & at first he said there is no rate of €30 you should have been charged €60. He then changed his story & said it was a promotion he had forgotten! He said other guests used the beds for free as it was included in their room rate... Rubbish, we used the cabana again over the weekend & didn't get charged the second time. I spoke 2 a manager who was much more amicable, he agreed not to charge us the €25 for the extra time in the room as a good will gesture. But we still paid €60 for 2 cabana's that everyone else got for free & they didn't offer to refund us. If your not bothered about crap service then this hotel will suit but i can't recommend it.

I have been to so many great hotels in my life and I have never been to less than a four star. Staying in Barcelo Illetas in Mallorca was a remarkable experience. The location itself is perfect, only 18 minutes away from the airport and 5 minutes from Palma. We have stayed for five nights and it was heavenly. Staff were professional and at their best to serve you. Breakfast was abundant, the room has its own classy style, some special things I found are the reading lights and the Nespresso machine. Get the room with the jacuzzi in the terrasse, it is really worth it! The Spa was really nice and the pool was exceptional with its beds. There is even nice music when you enter the lobby, The ambiance in The Sky Bar on the top floor was just amazing. We also ate at the Restaurant Blue of the hotel, it was not just delicious but it was done with art. I had for example, Risotto with shrimps and mango, but it was blue :-) Yes, i would definitely come back and have the pleasurable experience again.

Stayed here for 10 days in august. Main point for us was no children ( been there done that with our own kids) rooms lovely , new, and bed was hard but fixed my bad back. Staff very fiendly from main desk, breakfast, to room service . All very helpful and smilely . Not a great deal to do around without getting a bus or taxi, but we were happy to just walk to restaurants near one which served lovely lunch time fare was the mallow rose just a short walk down from the hotel. The Chinese up from the hotel was also good .if you don't mind a walk of about 20 mins left at the traffic lights we came across a little english pub called the port which served delicious food . Hotel was so relaxing and managed to get a sun bed every day no probs although we did tend to sit down on the sea front , so peaceful and no noise . ( but do be aware of pickpockets wondering about dont leave any valueables around keep them close by ) one more word , the spa , fab we were the only ones in it , went in most nights about 5.30 to do some sort of exercise . Although a little bit to much colorine in sometimes , but a nice finish to sitting around sunbathing all day. All in all just what we needed no fuss from staff just smiles and there to help if you need it . Ahhhhh
