“Ideal location for a relaxing holiday”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

We have just spent the last 10 days of October at the Riu Palace Bonanza Playa and enjoyed everything about it.The Hotel may be situated in a quiet location but is ideal for a relaxing holiday.
Immediately on arrival we were treated with a welcome drink and booked in quite quickly, and the staff on reception make you feel at home straight away,at least that was our experience.

The rooms are modern with a quirky set up.You enter the room via the wash/shower and wardrobe arrangement then on into the bed and lounge space. Unusual, but if some people worry about a little privacy when having a shower well it's fine because there is a huge screen door to partition off the shower room.
All the rooms are sea view ,some with a view over the bay some with a view over the pool. There are 9 floors to the hotel and the hotel is entered straight into Reception which is on the 8th floor with the restaurant on the 7th floor and the floors continue down to the garden and pool area.In other words it's like an upside down hotel,That expression 'Quirky' comes to mind again.

There is no beach attached to the hotel but the sunbed area is good and there are facilities for ease of access to swimming in the sea and with diving and snorkelling for enthusiasts. If it's a beach you want then turn left out of the hotel and a few minutes walk will take you to some wonderful little coves etc. Directly at the front of the hotel is a bus stop for buses into Palma. They run quite frequently and the journey takes anything from 20/30 mins depending on the time of day and of course traffic. Cost is only 1.50 Euroes each way.
Turn right out of the hotel and a few minutes walk will bring you to a few shops ,retaurants, supemarkets a chemist and even a jewellery shop. All that's required for emergency needs.

The Restaurant which is situated on the 7th floor is superb with wonderful Panoramic views over the bay and you can watch the ferries and Cruise ships coming and going into and out of Palma. Food in the restaurant is excellent with plenty of choice to suit everyone,no complaints there.

Finally I would like to say that the staff are great. I don't want to name any particular staff member because all of them warrant the same amount of praise. If anyone has a gripe about this hotel and it's staff all I can say to them is get a life.
I would certainly return to this hotel and recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: We had a room on the 6th floor overlooking the Pool and gardens and found it ideal. We went the last...

I travelled with my youngest daughter who is 12 and we needed a hotel that offered us a safe and friendly environment with excellent facilities and great food.we were not disappointed.I cant recommend this hotel highly enough. Super clean too. Rooms are very modern with super facilities. Had fruit wine and sweet gifts left complimentary from the manager. Such a lovely touch.everything about this hotel is 5 * The food choice is superb and chef is very friendly. The waiters pablo and Leon are excellent and there customer service skills are first class.pool side is great too.plenty of beds.wonderfull to walk down in the morning to no towels on any of the beds..tapas bar very good.great service and the price of the food is reasonable. All and all a great holiday and I will return next year..Louise Ramsey

We’ve been at this hotel for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay a lot. The location of this hotel is 10-20 minutes away from Palma if going by car. At the hotel you go direct access to the sea but there’s no real beach – so this requires a longer walk.
The hotel itself seems to be from the 1980s or so but the rooms are refurbished and really nice. The view from the pool is great and it’s very quiet and relaxing. The “salon tranquilo” (or how it was called) in the ground floor looked a bit strange but I’ve only been there for a meeting. In addition the garage is kind of difficult to access with luggage as it’s not directly connected to the hotel.
The staff is very friendly, the bar in the 8th floor (what is the ground floor when entering from the stress) is nice and the food and breakfast selection is both huge and also absolutely tasty. I never had such good food in Spain to be honest. So for having a short break from the daily routine I would definitely go there again for two or three nights.

This is a lovely hotel. Great location in an up - market residential area, all rooms have been beautifully refurbished and have a sea view. The hotel is quiet after entertainment stops at 10.30 pm so we had a good, comfortable night's sleep and there is no music around the pool area (plenty of sun beds) so nice and calm all around during the day.

The evening meal is excellent value if booked in advance. The drinks are very expensive (30 euros for four G&T's) but turn left out of the hotel and there are a couple of nice Spanish bar / cafes and the immaculate small cove and beach of Illetes. Go the other way and there are a couple more bars and a supermarket. Palma centre is only a 1euro 50 cents bus ride from right outside the hotel. Easy to get a bus to airport from there. Taxi to and from the airport if you prefer is around 30 euros.

Altogether a great 4 night break and we will cetainly go again when it reopens in March after the winter break.

Room Tip: All rooms have a sea view

The Hotel is a very pleasant, family hotel with an excellent swimming pool and a magnificent outlook over the Med. Buffet Breakfasts are first class and Buffet Dinner is very good value. The staff are friendly and quite helpful and the events organiser is wonderfully enthusiastic. We would certainly go back, the room is spotless and the cleaning staff are delightful. The room layout, having to walk through the shower room to get to the bedroom, is a little odd and having to flood the room with light if the W.C. is used at night is a drawback but overall a lovely, relaxing holiday experience

Room Tip: 7th and 9th floors are best views

We are just back from a few days spent in this newly refurbished hotel. Beds are comfortable , the sea view from first floor was great. Not too sure if I admire the decor, the chains curtain on the wardrobe was annoying. The staff are all exceptionally friendly. Love the pool and the fact that you can swim in the sea too, big yellow towels are supplied. The breakfast is buffet style and caters for every imaginable palate. The location is perfect if you are looking for a quiet break away and it's not too expensive to go to the neighbouring cities.

One word of warning however, the food served on the terrace is rather expensive for what you get. We decided to stay for dinner one evening and it was rather expensive in comparison to other local restaurants. It is probably much cheaper to book half board.

I will definitely return in the spring for a long weekend.

just returned form this hotel where I stayed with my husband and daughter. Although the paperwork states that booking in is after 2 o'clock, because of flight times we arrived before 11. this was not a problem and our room was prepared immediately while we were given a glass of champagne. The room was lovely. I think all rooms had a sea view and what a magnificent view it was! The beds were extremely comfortable and the room spotlessly clean. I didn't really like the glass doors to the toilet and the shower area. also the wash hand basin was in the room. We were treated to a bowl of fruit on arrival - a really nice touch. On our first night, my daughter ordered a hot chocolate in the bar. the next morning at breakfast the waiter saw her, went away and came back with a jug of hot chocolate saying - enjoy!
the hotel was, I felt, more catering for the German market. most of the guests when were there were German. If a cooked breakfast is a vital part of your holiday I wouldn't recommend going here. however, the food was plentiful and fresh - but I felt that the English cooked breakfast was an after thought. there is free wifi in the hotel. the safe was charged at 2 euro per night which I thought was very reasonable. Also, towels were provided at the pool for no extra charge, provided they were returned.
we had a lovely relaxing time but I would not recommend it for those travelling with small children. there is not toddler pool and the access to the sea is very easy and open - great for us but I would not have liked to be there with little ones.
all in all a very good holiday
