“Very friendly hotel with international mix of guests.”
Reviewed 11 June 2014

All inclusive package is good value with a selection of food to suit everyone. The food is fine but the fruit is very poor quality which is unusual in Spain. The beds could do with upgrading. The hotel switches the air conditioning in the rooms off from 1900-0900 but it is useless anyway! Nice friendly staff but not a lot of english spoken (except at reception) so it is nice to try your Spanish and this is appreciated. Very clean swimming pool and there were always loungers available as no one 'bagged' them with a towel at breakfast! Less than 10 minutes from airport to the hotel which is fab and close to a beautiful long, golden sandy beach with crystal clean sea. All in all you get what you pay for and it is great for an inexpensive short break.

My daughter and i recently returned from 7 nights in the whala balmes,i had never stayed there before, and it was a pleasant stay, the food was good a varied choice and plenty on offer, the staff i found helpful and friendly, rooms were a bit small and i've got to say the bathroom was tiny, even for the 2 of us. They had a bar, dining room and lounge area all fairly quiet. The pool area however caused some issues, the terrace area by the pool is small and only gets sun after lunch so only a few sunbeds get the sun which was problematic for some. All in all i would stay there again,it had a great location at a reasonable price

Just come back from a 5 night stay over spring bank.
We've had a great time.
The room appeared to have been recently decorated and the food was excellent, we stayed all inclusive (don't worry no hen or stag does).

The hotel has a mix of nationalities Spanish,German,British and French.

The hotel is very easy to get to.Take the number 21 service bus and get off at the stop after the hotel Linda(it's either the 3rd or 4th stop) if you look on Google earth, the stop is next to a Chinese restaurant, turn right and the hotel is 50yards down the road.

The hotel is approximately 50 yards from the beach.

Would recommend renting a bike for a day, there a lovely cycle track along the front that goes all the way to Palma approx 4 miles.

Forgot to mention the staff. VERY HELPFUL

I have just returned from an 8 night stay at this hotel. Went with some trepidation from the mixed reviews I have read. Yes it is tired and dated and ready for a refurb. But what is best about this hotel are the staff. From checking in to leaving my family were made to feel so welcome. All of the staff are so friendly far better than some of the larger hotels I have visited. The food is not as varied as some 4* I have visited. Breakfasts were as you would expect and evening meals were a choice of meats and fish and the usual salads. Each evening the chef cooked pork steaks etc. to order freshly for you which doesn't happen in all hotels. All in all very good value at £20 pppn. We noticed that it does look as if they are updating the hotel as our rooms had flat screen TVs, and new TVs have been installed in the last couple of days in the bar and lounge. This week they have also installed music to the bar and restaurant. So we towards the end of our stay enjoyed a drink on the terrace listening to chill out music. Would definitely consider going back for a long weekend as its only 10 minutes from the airport. Although this was a family holiday our children are adults and this hotel would not be suitable for children.

Room Tip: Some rooms don't have balconies so if you want to sit watching the world go by ask for one.

We stayed sep 28th x 6 nights AI and had our 6 month old baby grandson and on arrival we discovered there was no cot which we confirmed 6 months ago however at 7 am the next morning (as we arrived after midnight ) there was a team of staff sorting it out and an apology from the manager .

After that I cannot fault the place for the price we paid which has to be taken into account as it's very competitive.

Breakfast had beans , sausage , bacon every day despite the hotel being mainly Germans and some days hash browns but lunch and dinner were very good they. Have Italian nights , Japanese and Spanish nights and on all inc they serve wine in the bar as well as San Migel on draught which some top resorts do not offer and of course there is the location as it's 30 seconds from the beach .excellent hotel .

Room Tip: Book sea view or pool as there are some rooms facing walls

Ok, I know I know, this place is quite cheap but C'MON, even for this money there are muuuuch better places out there. I was very disappointed with my last moment choice of this hotel. Room was just pathetic - teeny tiny and overlooking for WALL. Yup, the wall of the building standing right next to it. Perhaps, it was just our luck, but I thought that was kind of sad. The staff was very friendly though and the food was quite good, so, with a positive attitude you can have an ok stay there, BUT if you're picky and demanding - just do yourself a favor and don't go to Balmes. Cheers!

Room Tip: Try to get a room that doesn't overlook a wall. ;)

There are 4 main things that we liked at this hotel:

1. We had All Inclusive and the food was very good. They had also some suppers with themes like Japanese or Spanish food. The food was fresh, some of it was cooked right in front of you by the cooks. They had very nice fruits and ice cream for desert and also some cakes. The drinks at the bar were good, we especially enjoyed a digestive-like drink called hierbas (resembles sambuca but sweeter).

2. The location was good. It's about 15 minutes from the airport with the express buses (either 1 or 21 are good). It's a 5 minute walk from the beach and about the same distance from the center of Ca'n Pastilla. The Mallorca Aquarium is about 15 minutes walking (it will take you about 3-4 hours to visit it and we think it's worth the time and the ticket price). There are two frequent busses, 15 and 30, that we took to visit Palma. They have good transportation, you can check it out online. And definitely check out the train to Soller.

3. Also, we liked that the hotel is situated on a pretty quiet street and although we saw a lot of people at breakfast, in the night we heard no noises. I can't say the same about the Magaluf region of Mallorca, where we actually saw drunk people puking out the balconies in the middle of the day. We also liked the fact that there were people from many countries, Germany, UK, Holland, Romania, Italy, France.

4. The staff was very friendly and helpful and their hard work made our stay a pleasant one, whether it was in the dining room, at the bar or at the reception.

Now for the things that we didn't like at the hotel: the rooms, although clean, need renovation. Also, the windows at our room led straight to the hotel's entrance roof, so we had to remember to close them each time we left the room, to prevent theft.

We think that we made a good choice with this hotel and it contributed to a wonderful time on the island.
