Just returned from a fifteen night stay at this hotel. We had a great room overlooking the street and got the sun in the afternoon. The bathroom however was small and not really suitable for people with disabilities. The staff were brilliant, really friendly and went out of their way to helps the food was very good, plenty of choice and more importantly hot. We stayed on a half board basis and paid for our drinks which were reasonable and served in glasses, however if you are on an all inclusive basis drinks are served in paper cups. The downside of our stay was on our second week the Spanish students arrived approx 150 from Barcelona having finished their exams, they were very noisy and disrespectful to other guests in the hotel, the hotel staff did their best to control the situations there was a security guard at night patrolling the corridors to ensure we got a good nights sleep! If you have a disability please be aware there is no disabled access Into the hotel only steps.Overall we had a lovely time and would definitely stay again although not from mid to end June when the Spanish students arrive

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the street ours was 412 some rooms have no balconies and face a wall.

Our 1st night we arrived at 11.30pm to be told our room wasn't available for some reason and that we would have to stay in their "emergency" room for the night. This room was tiny, no balcony, opening window with laundry view, 2 different height single beds pushed together with such thin mattresses, it felt like we were laying straight onto wood! Our toilet and shower was across the corridor in another room which was a pain. We complained at reception in the morning and to be fair, the lady was very apologetic and said our "booked" room was still occupied by other guests. She told us to have breakfast and come back after 11.00am which we did. The room was still not ready, so we had to put our cases that were still packed from the night before, behind reception and we went out for a couple of hours. We got back at about 1.20pm and our room still wasn't ready. In the end, it was 2.30pm before we could get into our room, which eventually was ok.
On another note, the food was ok but the snacks advertised in the "all Inclusive" are a bit non-existent. Only cheese, Salami and bread were normally put out during the allocated snack times (which was only about an hour and a half slot in the day) and so the restaurant was empty. You had to ask if you wanted a burger or hotdog cooked.
One big problem was the "all Inclusive" bar. My partner and I are not big drinkers but all inclusive guests who want a beer are actually served it in a paper pepsi cup with such a massive frothy head on it, you would be lucky if there was 1/4 of a pint in the cup. No glasses were used for all inclusive client's which wasn't very nice. The same with the coffee, there was a pukka coffee machine behind the bar that any "paying" customers were given. All Inclusive guests were given half a cup of instant cappuccino from the Nescafe machine beside the pukka coffee machine. It didn't seem fair that guests were treated differently to "cash paying" guests. The 2 barmen (who were very moody and a bit like Basil Faulty) were also very elusive and there were often guests walking around the hotel trying to find someone to serve them. And to top it all, the bar closed at 11.00pm every night, whether you paid or were all inclusive. This meant guests ended up going out anyway to other bars for drinks.
All said and done, on the whole, once our room was sorted by the lovely lady behind reception, we enjoyed our stay but wouldn't pay for "All Inclusive" again of we were to stay at Balmes again.

Room Tip: Make sure that if you are offered an "emergency room" as many people were during our stay...

Just returned from a stay at a whala Balmes. Didn't know what to expect due to the mixed reviews. When we arrived we were placed in one of their emergency accommodation rooms due to the hotel bring full that evening. The emergency room was pretty good for a basic room. The next morning we were given our room for the week. It was excellent. The room was spotlessly clean. Clean towels and a clean balcony. Breakfast was good as well. Ranging from fried eggs to croissants and fruit. We went half board and the evening meal was good too, mostly chips and meats but again a varied selection. Staff were really helpful and sorted queries efficiently and were really friendly. The area of Can Pastilla is quiet with really nice beaches and restaurants. Less than 5 mins from airport. All in all I would stay here again and I would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Ask for a good room when you arrive

All inclusive package is good value with a selection of food to suit everyone. The food is fine but the fruit is very poor quality which is unusual in Spain. The beds could do with upgrading. The hotel switches the air conditioning in the rooms off from 1900-0900 but it is useless anyway! Nice friendly staff but not a lot of english spoken (except at reception) so it is nice to try your Spanish and this is appreciated. Very clean swimming pool and there were always loungers available as no one 'bagged' them with a towel at breakfast! Less than 10 minutes from airport to the hotel which is fab and close to a beautiful long, golden sandy beach with crystal clean sea. All in all you get what you pay for and it is great for an inexpensive short break.

My daughter and i recently returned from 7 nights in the whala balmes,i had never stayed there before, and it was a pleasant stay, the food was good a varied choice and plenty on offer, the staff i found helpful and friendly, rooms were a bit small and i've got to say the bathroom was tiny, even for the 2 of us. They had a bar, dining room and lounge area all fairly quiet. The pool area however caused some issues, the terrace area by the pool is small and only gets sun after lunch so only a few sunbeds get the sun which was problematic for some. All in all i would stay there again,it had a great location at a reasonable price

Just come back from a 5 night stay over spring bank.
We've had a great time.
The room appeared to have been recently decorated and the food was excellent, we stayed all inclusive (don't worry no hen or stag does).

The hotel has a mix of nationalities Spanish,German,British and French.

The hotel is very easy to get to.Take the number 21 service bus and get off at the stop after the hotel Linda(it's either the 3rd or 4th stop) if you look on Google earth, the stop is next to a Chinese restaurant, turn right and the hotel is 50yards down the road.

The hotel is approximately 50 yards from the beach.

Would recommend renting a bike for a day, there a lovely cycle track along the front that goes all the way to Palma approx 4 miles.

Forgot to mention the staff. VERY HELPFUL

I have just returned from an 8 night stay at this hotel. Went with some trepidation from the mixed reviews I have read. Yes it is tired and dated and ready for a refurb. But what is best about this hotel are the staff. From checking in to leaving my family were made to feel so welcome. All of the staff are so friendly far better than some of the larger hotels I have visited. The food is not as varied as some 4* I have visited. Breakfasts were as you would expect and evening meals were a choice of meats and fish and the usual salads. Each evening the chef cooked pork steaks etc. to order freshly for you which doesn't happen in all hotels. All in all very good value at £20 pppn. We noticed that it does look as if they are updating the hotel as our rooms had flat screen TVs, and new TVs have been installed in the last couple of days in the bar and lounge. This week they have also installed music to the bar and restaurant. So we towards the end of our stay enjoyed a drink on the terrace listening to chill out music. Would definitely consider going back for a long weekend as its only 10 minutes from the airport. Although this was a family holiday our children are adults and this hotel would not be suitable for children.

Room Tip: Some rooms don't have balconies so if you want to sit watching the world go by ask for one.
