We stayed at Baltix D´Avall for two nights.
First we tried to drive there by our own car - big mistake - we almost ruined the rental car. The 5 km long street is impossible to drive without a jeep or something similar. But ok, we called the finca and told them that we couldn´t get down there and they immediately organized a shuttle for us to get to the finca (20 Euros though). Btw it was no problem at all to park the car at the Mirador de seis Barques (for free). So service was good at that point.
First impression of the finca was WOW! Amazing building, great surrounding - a must see! Rooms were alright - quite rustic but the wall looked like there was a water main break or something like that. But anyway it was clean and I had a good night´s sleep and got woken up by the rooster, which was fun.
Before you go there you should know though that the family does not speak english or german (well, not enough for complaints or a proper conversation anyway and the only person with good knowledge in english left the day we arrived), there is no phone signal, no internet or anything like that.
Its perfect for hikers as it is in the middle of the mountains. But we´d expected it to be more relaxing even for non hikers. We were looking forward to the pool - well, well, well the pool wasn´t a pool anymore - it almost has no water inside and the water that is there is kinda muddy and grey/green. Wouldn´t recommend taking a swim. That was really very disappointing. It shouldn´t be a problem for them to get that fixed. Plus there´s quite a few stuff lying around which could easily be removed - so if you look precisely you can see that there needs to be quite a lot of work done.
Then, there are a few animals (I think I counted 10 dogs or something like that) which is nice for kids I think. Its like a little zoo there - although have to say: Free the bunnies! They live in small cages with no outdoor space at all.
Dinner was OK - its like having dinner at grannies. Simple but good. Although no choice between 2 or 3 meals - its more like eat what you get! But it was really good. Breakfast on the other hand was poor. Bread, butter, jam, cheese, coffee or hot chocolate. No cereals, joghurt etc. Would have expected a bit more - especially as you probably need some energy for the day as a hiker and anyway as you have to walk the 5 km up the mountain to get back to civilization.
Ambiance was quite nice as well - only though if you could sit outside in the lovely garden. However, unfortunately you have to have breakfast inside - in a room that had no ambiance at all - cold and no music etc. For dinner we sat outside the first night and for the second night we literally had to sit inside. We asked them if it is possible to eat outside as the weather looked alright. However, they refused. We thought it was because of the other guest - if we´d sit outside they would also want to sit outside and then the owners would have more work putting the tables out again etc. But personally I think something like that should not be a problem. And if it starts raining in the evening, just get some big umbrellas. Its much nicer to sit outside in your holidays in Spain (even if its raining) than inside in a cold room. Something else that was a bit weird was that you had dinner, they offered you some wine and after dessert you never saw the waitress again. Even if you´d wanted more to drink - you simply could not!
All in all it was an experience but I would not stay there again. Maybe if they would put some more work in the finca and the service as it truly has the potential to be something great. But as it is now it is not a good value for money!
