Staying here is refeshingly low key.Our room (on the top floor) was comfortable but a little cramped and unfortunately the shower head did not fit the bracket and fell on me whilst I was showering, if staying again I would pay a little more for a bigger, brighter room The bed was very comfortable and there is a small lounge with a good range of books which was great as the room had only one chair. The garden and terrace are delightful. The breakfasts were delicious and it was a treat to get a decent sized mug of tea. Guests have access to the kitchen in the evening and so are able to make a hot drink, an unusual and very civilised feature. The village is very pretty and is an excellent centre for walking and there is plenty of information to help you enjoy your stay in the hotel.

we stayed here for two nights at the beginning of a week's walking holiday. had a delightful little room called Massanella, the hosts Sue and Nick were very welcoming, offering us coffee and pastries on arrival while room was being cleaned and a tray of tea by the pool on another afternoon after a long walk. also offering lifts up to the starts of walks. we enjoyed their weekly meal, with 4 other couples and our hosts, great food and unlimited wine! and good company too. overall really liked it, it has a great evening view from the terrace of the sunlit mountains opposite. we ate at cafe Med on our first night as everything else was closed for a fiesta, welcoming but quite pricey for what we had.

Room Tip: from what we saw, they all looked nice in their own way!

We stayed here a coupleof years ago. We had heard rave reviews about the hotel from friends and family. We took the advice to book one of the upper rooms with the mountain views...and we were not disappointed in that respect...the views were stunning and very picturesque. However the stairs up were quite tight and the fact that we had to drag our suitcases up them made for a sweaty start to our stay.
The room itself was quaint but fairly tired looking. For the price we paid we expected a bit more although to be fair it was clean. The pool area and gardens looked very pretty and inviting, however, the furniture was old and could have done with some tlc. Perhaps most annoying was the fact that one afternoon when decided to cool off by the pool the sun loungers were taken or booked. We were particularly dismayed to discover that one lounger was booked by the owner! She eventually appeared from the hotel to claim the lounger whilst allowing a paying guest to sit on a seat. Quite bizarre
We were advised to take part in the bbq meal that the owners organise. We did this and whilst the food was nice it was not value for money. We had some great meals elsewhere in the village.
We were probably the youngest couple staying at the hotel at the time and we both felt that it was like staying at a long lost aunt and uncles house...instead of being a romantic trip it felt like we were imposing on someones home...
We really enjoyed our time in the area and exploring fornalutx and beyond. We feel that with a bit more tlc and investment in some new furniture and decoration the hotel could be better value for money.

We have just returned home after visiting Hotel Ca'n Reus for their excellent Olive Weekend. We first visited this hotel back in 2005 and we have always wanted to return. The Olive themed winter weekends seemed to be just right for breaking up the gloomy month of January. We were not disappointed and everything that we loved about the hotel 5 years ago still apply. It has cosy, comfortable rooms with wonderful breakfasts. Fornalutx is so pretty nestling in Mallorca's dramatically beautiful Tramuntana mountains. You can easily see why the area has been awarded Unesco World Heritage status. From the climb up to the village you can see the entire Soller Valley looking magnificent with citrus fruit trees laden with fruit. The taste of the oranges straight from the trees is wonderful! The pre-booked 'Olive Weekend' meant that we had good food, good wine and good company! Thank you all at Ca'n Reus!

Room Tip: A room with a view of the dramatically beautiful Tramuntana mountains comes a small premium but wort...

Having just come from a perfect stay at an Agro-tourism Finca with charming hosts, spotless accommodation and attention to detail, our much-awaited and long-planned stay at Ca'n Reus in October was a real disappointment. We had not booked on the basis of the fame or personalities of the owners, purely on the desire to stay somewhere exquisite in this lovely village - and with real regret, Ca'n Reus fell short of expectation given the price charged.
I have communicated with the niche booking website used about the short-comings that were not dependant on the owner's being there . Above all the outside areas need to be cleansed of cats that lie on the sun-loungers, the soft furnishings on the terrace - and much of the outside furniture needs replacing urgently, The sitting area by the pool was rather unkempt .
We had booked the Suite - the view from the Suite and the 2 upstairs rooms are stunning; but the furniture in the Suite was more junk shop than chic. We had to heave suitcases up and down the steep stairs as no help was offered by the staff.
Overall, if you are checking reviews with a view to booking, be aware that the rooms on the street side will have no view - but that is the nature of the narrow streets in the village and is clearly detailed on the Hotel website, and that the Garden room and room under the kitchen will come with some lack of privacy and noise. The top floor rooms and the Suite offer stunning views - but be prepared to lug some suitcases ; not for the less mobile !
Hopefully some attention and expenditure on the outside furnishings and to the Suite ( really needs some TLC and investment) will happen over winter ..

Room Tip: read the Hotel website carefully and make sure you know which room you are booking, Management of ex...

There's no better hiking than this mountainous section of Mallorca. Hikes range from the truly epic to manageable by most fit walkers. Regardless, the views are without doubt world class. And this little one of a kind hotel is the perfect place to rest up afterwards. The owners will point you in the right direction depending on your desired level of effort (if you are lucky Sue will join you on your walk). The hotel and village are romantic and camera worthy in the extreme - save some time to walk around the village. The hotel is 'old style' and it can be a trek carrying your bags up three flights, but it's worth it. We loved it.

Room Tip: Ask to face the mountain/gardens

Fornalutx is a very beautiful village with stunning views. Ca'n Reus was our first stop on a walking holiday in Northern Majorca and it ticked all the boxes. Individual, quirky, small and oozing TLC. Our room was on the top floor (plenty of muscle needed to heft the cases up there) and overlooked the narrow street below. It was absolutely charming. The bathroom was Ok but the shower head had a mind of its own. It kept leaping off its mounting every time the water pressure changed. The room was very clean and nicely furnished, bedding towels etc were of good quality. Wifi reception was excellent.

Breakfast was out of this world and the girls in the kitchen are to be congratulated on producing such a superb display of food each morning. Not only did the food look good, it tasted good. An incredible selection of freshly prepared fruits, fresh OJ, meats, cheeses, breads - Nectar! We stayed in four different hotels on this trip and this was way and above the best breakfast provided. No low quality industrial catering pack food here. It was so refreshing to find somewhere that had gone to so much effort. Trying local foods and wine is one of our holiday pleasures and we are so often disappointed with being presented with poor quality food.
We did not meet the owners Sue and Nick who were away. We arrived during the fiesta and other guests passed on the warnings they had been given about bad behaviour and personal safety. However, we did not witness anything like that. Maybe it all went on after we were safely tucked up in bed. From our viewpoint the fiesta looked to be very much a family
occasion. The only inconvenience for us being that the bars and restaurants closed very early on the Saturday evening.
We loved our stay at Ca'n Reus and would love to return some day.
