“I've stayed in cheap hotels before, but this...”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2014

Just arrived back from a week in Magaluf with 5 friends, we have been to Malia and Kavos previously and Magaluf as a whole was by the far the biggest and best destination out of the three. We have also always stayed in the cheapest hotels and managed to have a great time, unfortunately though, Hotel Teix was a big disappointment. I understand you get what you pay for, but I think I deserve to be paid to stay in this hotel.

Positives -
The location was excellent. Just off the strip and with close proximity to the beach.

The people we met at the hotel were good fun and all prepared to have a laugh at what we all were enduring.

Negatives -
The rooms are incredibly hot (it's literally colder sleeping on the sun loungers outside). There is no air con, there is one fan that you can rent but it costs 5 euros a day and has the wind power of a fart. Sleep was only achievable during sundown, something that rarely happens in Magaluf.

The bathroom as a whole smelt like orcs had been living in there (and no, I had not just used the toilet). The shower is quite literally useless. My friends could have simultaneously spat on my head and I would have received a stronger shower. Imagine the trickle of water that comes out when you switch your shower off at home... this shower was 5 times less powerful than that.

They kept your passports as a deposit. This was very scary.

Security? It probably would have been safer to have kept my belongings on the beach. In our time there doors had been kicked in, people had been threatened in their rooms for the belongings and apparently there was a rather dubious 'repair man' who let himself into people's rooms to 'repair' things that didn't need repairing.

Overall whilst the pool area was okay and the people were nice to meet, this hotel was a bit of a let down. I understand that you get what you pay for, but when I book a hotel I at least expect to be able to sleep in it. Magaluf is a great place filled with people who know how to have a great time, the locals are much more friendly than Greece and the clubs are CRAZY, but I won't be rushing back to Hotel Teix next year.

Room Tip: The front facing rooms are loud until around 6am but do have shade on the balconies in the morning w...

Cheap yes and you defiantly get what you pay for.

Me and my friends have stayed in many good hotels in Magaluf and this one was a bad one.

Location

The location is good and right near the main strip.

Room

The room temperature was unbearable even when using a fan. Therefore you need to open the balcony door to let some cool air into the room. This is an issue as you need to decide between sleeping in a desert or listening to the Magaluf strip and getting bitten by Mosquitos while trying to get to sleep. Also there was no blackout curtain to block any sunlight in the morning.

Cleaning staff

The room clearing staff took it upon themselves to move our clothes around the room and change where me and my friend originally put them. For example we had hung up our clothes on hangers in the wardrobe to then find they had been moved else where and also mixed our clothes up.

Bathroom

The bathroom was exactly what you would expect and was big enough. However the shower was unsatisfactory as it was not fixed to the wall.

Reception staff

Really friendly reception staff. However when asked questions about the room it was not there problem and there was nothing they could do when highlighting problems.

We did not like the idea that the hotel had to keep your passports for the whole duration of the stay and also there was a €100 fine if you lost your room key.

Won't be staying again!

Myself and a friend stayed here for one night, the room was very clean & the beds were super comfy, the pool area is lovely and lively & the staff are nice too, would happily return, the hotel is in a great location, close to both palma nova and magaluf, this hotel deserves more stars! X

Ive just come back from my vacation in Magalluf. Im very happy of finding this hotel. I thought it just would be a cheaper place with no extras. But he pool, bar, rooms are very nice! The whole hotel is pretty clean and service is very kind and lovely. Distance to beach is short, just 4minutes walking around. There is some place to buy food next to the hotel and funny pubs to watch football matches, drink some beers, karaoke...

We were kicked out of our previous hotel and had to find somewhere to stay on a budget, all the workers we met recommended the Teix saying it was "cheap and cheerful." Cannot complain at all, decent sized rooms, great pool area and barman. Had a blast there and wish we had booked it in the first place. Could do with air cons and wifi but the staff were so great we didnt even care in the end! Pretty quiet considering its right on the strip, perfect place to be on the strip as well. You get what you pay for and it isnt for snobs, but if you want a good time this is the place!

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have views of the clubs, much better when youre getting ready

This hotel is ideal for stag n hen do's, but if youre looking for somewhere nice to stay this place isn't it.

To be fair the staff were great, when we asked for a blanket for our beds and a shower curtain, the cleaner sorted it. but the hotel itself is basic, very basic. It probably started as a nice family run hotel and over time large groups of p1ssed up yobs and slags have run it down. You can see in the room places where things used to be (phone, tv, bedside cabinets) that have obviously been hoyed out off the balcony by nobheads on tour.

In some hotels ive stayed in ive been waken by the cockerel crowing early in the morning, in this hotel There's the daily 5am kicking of doors in and spastic football chants off the louts returning home from their daily bender.

the showers on the top floor were warm but of the kind of pressure that comes from a babies bottle when you hold it upside down n shake it! Towels like sand paper.

Plusses???

we only stayed for 3 nights!!!!
