Food...faultless. Location, peaceful and awesome. Spotlessly clean and smelt of fresh rosemary and lemons. Bed was beautiful and comfortable. Staff helpful and friendly but not intrusive. Fresh, delicious fruit and breakfast surrounded by singing sparrows and gorgeous court yard garden. It was our 10 year anniversary band we fell in love just a little more in this lovely place.

Room Tip: Room 2, fabulous 4 poster bed. Huge balcony with sun over looking mountains but private.

We wanted to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary at a small, quiet hotel with the possibility of some walking. After a long search we decided on Finca Son Palou, Mallorca. What an inspired choice!. An old farm house tastefully converted, retaining much of its old character but providing the requirements for a modern holiday. An idyllic spot set in a valley bordered by wooded hills and mountains. The peace and quiet is deafening; even the birds seem to have a lie-in (no 3am dawn chorus). The main lounge, which used to be the olive pressing area, has many of the old implements, all of which helps you relax. There is an extensive menu of top quality food. The description on the menu does not prepare you for the tasty, artistic creation which appears on your plate. The staff are superb, friendly and efficient. A number of walks start from the hotel along clearly defined and well sign posted tracks. Guide notes are available. Some on the flat, but others ascend a couple of hundred feet up the wooded hills which dominate the view from the hotel. The incline may look a little daunting at first but sensible footware and a steady pace make for easy progress. There are plenty of places to pause and admire the stunning views. Don't forget your camera. The rewards are well worth the effort. If this pair of arthritic geriatrics can do it anyone can. If its night-life, bars and shops you want - look elsewhere. Finca Son Palou and the Orient area is a place to relax and unwind however you choose. May 2014

Room Tip: Our south-facing room with balcony was excellent

My wife and I stayed at this property for nine nights from 15 to 24 May, 2014. Situated in the heritage village of Orient in the mountains of Majorca it is a most beautiful location overlooking a spectacular valley. It is a small family run hotel and absolutely beautiful in every way. Breakfast on the sun soaked patio off the dining room is special. We stayed half board with full healthy breakfast and the dinner each evening was a treat to look forward to. The bedroom - No 12 - which we stayed in was in the annex and lovely. It was spacious with a private patio and separate room or suite to the front and spacious bedroom to the rear. The bedroom had a window opening on to a flower garden in full bloom and the scent and perfume from the flowers entering the bedroom was simply amazing. The room was serviced each day and was always spotlessly clean.
A car is essential here unless you wish to just stay put and relax in the amazing peace and quiet of this area and enjoy the fresh air and the many walks in the surrounding hills. There is a small outdoor pool and pleasant lawn where you can unwind and relax. Cars have to be parked a short distance 50-100m or so from the hotel which ensures complete peace and quiet. The last 10 km from the nearest towns of either Alaro or Bunyola are narrow and wind their way up into the hills. You need to drive slowly as these roads are very popular with cyclists who come at you very rapidly around the many bends. The staff here could not be more pleasant and helpful from Marc the manager to Ruth, Toni and Morja (hope I got it right) who served dinner and Bernie who did the breakfast. And of course the Chefs who produced the most wonderful food with a very extensive menu and wine list. Overall it was a wonderful break which we greatly enjoyed away from the crowds. As a base it was an excellent location to explore the many small towns and villages of this mountain region and the many coves along the North coast of the island. An ideal location if you are looking for something completely different from the more visited sea side resorts.

Room Tip: All rooms are different I believe but excellent nonetheless. Certainly I can recommend No 12 in the...

This was a real find and we could not fault anything in our 3 night stay. The staff were unfailingly helpful and friendly. They were accommodating of our kids (5 & 7). The pool is stunning; tranquil and a sun trap. The villa we had was well furnished and fitted the 4 of us perfectly... The kids were tucked away around a room divide so we had some privacy too.

The food was the really outstanding feature for us. Breakfast was simple but the high quality of every ingredient was evident in each bite. No dry sliced cheeses here, but hunks of cheese for you to cut. Creamy yoghurt, fresh prepared fruits, eggs cooked to your preference, delicious Palma ham.

Lunch was equally amazing-a wide selection and all well executed.

The dinner menu was outstanding. You are asked to choose a started and main before 5.30 and this is obviously because of the amount of prep that goes into each dish. The standout for me was the 'prawn salad' which consisted of perfectly dressed salad with 6 huge langoustine plonked ontop. They were verging on mini lobster sized and drew envious gasps from my husband...I could easily spare one for him as there was so much. We ate there all 3 nights and not one course was a dud. Made better for the waiting staff who joked with the kids , brought them extra drinks and were friendly and professional.

We hope to return as it really was a great place to stay. My husband was able to head out on amazing road rides from there and we were within 30 mins of soller beach. The hour and a half to cala tuent was worth it too.

Hotel So Palou it´s a great hotel located in a beautiful finca in an awesome local village. You have all the nature really close to the hotel where you can go to see the rivers, walking through the mountains or visit the old church. Calm and relax.

We came away for a few nights in old town Palma and unfortunately because its so popular here we could only grab one night... it was a special place to bring my girlfriend on her birthday and she was absolutely smitten.
Cant thank the attentive staff enough and especially Marco for his personal touch in recognition of Zoes 30th birthday. The food was delicious, breakfast in the courtyard was fantastic and the pool is just perfect.
If we won the Euromillions i think we'd live here..

Room Tip: room 15 was a fantastic private suite with a private roof terrace.

This was our second visit - just as good, if not better, than our first. Such peaceful surroundings. The room and bathroom were very large, extremely comfortable and clean. The breakfasts and dinners were a real treat set in a lovely courtyard for breakfast and a light, airy dining room for dinner. Above all else, the staff at this hotel are magnificent. Already planning our next trip to this marvellous hotel.

Room Tip: Room 2 has a massive terrace.
