“Lovely hotel, nice area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

We stayed here in April and the hotel had only just reopened for the season. Lovely hotel in a good location - just a short walk to the beach and shops. Our room was lovely and clean. We had a balcony which overlooked the road but we didn't mind as it was a fairly quiet area. The rooms overlooking the pool would have probably been too noisy for us. We also heard some guest complaining about rooms on the the ground floor next to the entertainment area.

On our arrival there had been a power cut and we had to stay in a different hotel for the night. The staff were very apologetic but expected us to walk with our suitcases after a long day of travelling, not knowing where to go. Eventually they did provide a taxi but we were left in a self catering hotel when we had paid for all inclusive. Our rooms were finally ready the following afternoon - after the check out time and we were dubious about the power cut.

The food was ok, however the dining area was incredibly busy! It was quite frustrating to spend most of the time in there queuing, only to find everything had gone and you had to wait again! We ate out a few times to avoid the hustle and bustle! Soft drinks, lager and coffee were available as self service and snacks were available during the day. This was bread, cheese, ham and a small selection of pastries.

The pool area was lovely, with a smaller pool available for children and an indoor pool. Plenty of seating and we managed to find sun loungers when we wanted them. The outdoor bar is quite small so got quite busy.

We didn't really see any entertainment - the hotel has lots of French guests and the daytime entertainment is aimed for them. There seemed to be a good kids club though as we saw lots of children in the restaurant and taking part in different activities everyday! There is a small bar on the ground floor but against this was very busy and it didn't have much seating. The hotel was fully booked when we were there but there was no entertainment in the outside area later in the evening, which was a shame, as this had the most seating!

All in all, we enjoyed our holiday and would be happy to return here!

Room Tip: Rooms facings the pool/entertainment area might be noisier during peak season time.

After reading reviews on Tripadvisor I have my doubts wether I will read them again.
My family & I are just back from this hotel, we found the staff very friendly. We arrived in the early hours & the staff had food ready for our arrival.
We all had blue bands but never felt any different from any of the other guests, the staff throughout the day always tried to include us in all the activites.
The rooms & towels were cleaned daily, large tv on the wall & leather sofa & single seat in the room, with great view of the pool area.
There are 3 pools with 1 of them indoors. The main pool area is quite lively but if you want a bit of R&R go to the elephant pool area which has plenty of loungers & shaded areas (ideal for the younger children)
The food was some of the best I have had on a foreign holiday, served from 7am-9.30pm, plenty of choice for ALL diets even veggies.
Some of the comments I read said you need to be French to enjoy this hotel. Yes they do speak French but they also give instructions in German, Italian & English so we didn't have any problems understanding what was going on at any time night or day.
The evenings entertainment was simple, varied & enjoyable, the pool party being the main highlight, every other Thursday night from 10pm-12am great music & fun.

To finish of I would recommend this hotel for lots of reasons, but if you want to go on a FOREIGN holiday & not want to hear other languages this hotel is not for you, stay at home..

This hotel is good in everything else apart from entertainment by staff and the way other guests treat you. All French had red bands and every other part of the world had blue, this indicated to the staff to basically avoid everyone with a blue band. Guests with French bands treat the blue banded guests horrible, e.g. Blatantly laughing at us and stealing blue band peoples sunbeds. Walking passed staff they would ignore you! They even had a night purely for the French where everyone else was segregated. If you're not interested in entertainment then it is a good hotel but even speaking to other English we agreed we felt not wanted and left out and didn't want to join in games 1. Because we didn't understand what to do because it was French and 2. We didn't feel wanted. So basically if you're not French don't go!

Good location near the beach that is really lovely.
The hotel is basic and the room we were given had no view ( we did ask for sea view )
The entertainment is in french and is realllly loud and on most nights finished around 11pm. If you want a chill out holiday this isn't the hotel for you.
Overall good for the beach

First things first... This hotel caters mainly for the French and Dutch package trade. This might bother some people but as a couple of Brits that's just what we wanted as personally I can't stand listening to English people getting drunk, loud and annoying. The only downside is that all of the entertainment is in French. BUT - most of it is singing and dancing in the night-time shows so it doesn't really matter and we enjoyed it anyway.

This is a large All Inclusive hotel - roughly 30/40 minutes coach transfer from the airport. It's quite close to nasty Magaluf, but far enough away that none of the people from there ventured anywhere near our hotel. If you want to, you can walk to Magaluf in about 30 minutes or there are loads of buses.

We arrived late in the evening and were immidiately taken to our room and given the all-inclusive wrist-bands. Personally I hate these bands and took mine off after the first day and kept it in my pocket. No-one seemed to mind.

Room immaculate although poor choice of UK channels (only the news, as I recall). Towels changed on request and beds always made up. Very friendly cleaners. Apparently there are two types of rooms but we had the refurbished ones looking over the pool which was a good choice.

The staff are amazing here - especially Swan. They start work at 8am and do pool activities, workout classes and the kids club. Then at night time they put on a show, which seemed to be very popular. Different show each night, including comedy, Moulin Rouge, 80s Disco. These are loud and fun but they all finish at 11pm so you won't be kept awake past that hour. On some nights the staff even offered to take us clubbing in Magaluf after the show. They work SO hard.
Normally I hate this kind of thing but the entertainment wasn't forced and the staff really do their best to respect which guests want to get involved and which ones don't.

The pool is great - very deep and large with a lovely surrounding area and plenty of sunbeds. There is actually a second pool (through the bar area) which is quiet and has more sunbeds if you don't fancy the noise from the main pool.

Gym is well equipped and there is an indoor spa pool and sauna, although it was a bit weird that the spa pool was cold, rather than hot like a jacuzzi.

The all inclusive food is incredible with and amazing selection. Buffet-style but also cooked right in front of you. I cannot stress how large the range was. I notice in some other reviews people complained about dirty table or not being able to find cutlery. This happened just once with me in a week and it's really no big deal. They also have burgers / hot dogs / salads available all day long which we only found out on the last day. For this you have to enter the dining room from poolside, rather than from reception. All very tasty except the desserts which could be slightly better I feel. My favourite meals were the plentiful seafood salads.

As mentioned by others the WiFi is basically non-existent in the rooms but much better by the pool and in the lobby. Lots of sofas here to do your emails too.

Outside the hotel there are several VERY nice beaches between the hotel and Magaluf. Busy but beautiful. If you walk in the other direction, towards the Marina, there are a couple of big supermarkets and some lovely small secluded beaches about 30 minutes walk north along the main road.

All in all I would give full marks to this hotel, for the amazing facilities, price and the VERY hard working staff who work in the sun all day long and THEN put on a great show.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room overlooking the main pool (unless you want to sleep in the daytime)

PROS: The hotel is really neat, the rooms are spacious and clean, staff quite proffesional, there is a lot of entertainment activities in which everyone can participate. Ibersol is nicely located and it is close enough to the beach, Palma de Mallorca and Magaluf: the party-city. It's not difficult to find a sun bed, but most get 'reserved' in the morning. The food varies, is tasty and quite fresh. The hotel is not so far from Western Water Park which I recommend and on Monday-Friday there is a free bus going there.

CONS: I was mistaken by a receptionist and due to her being underinformed I had to pay for a taxi and waste time on getting to my destination as she told me about a free bus which turned out to be unable to be taken on that day. The pools (especially the main one) are not too clean, there is rubbish floating around in them. The Lookea Club in the hotel has entartainment almost only in French, which might be a trouble for some travellers.

Sorry for the mistake done by recepcionist but sure that there was a missunderstanding on the conversation.

It's true that there is a french animation team but we have our own animation team that participate in all the activities in common, All the games and activites are in english too.

We look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to ibersol Son Caliu Mar.
