“Wonderful view/location but some issues”
Reviewed 5 February 2012

Arrived for a short break in October but like most others have mentioned hotel apprently had some issue's with rooms and we had to go to another hotel for the first night. We had booked this hotel for the beacjside location so were a bit disappointed with being moved quite a distance inland but didn't bother us too much as the hotel we went to was fine and the sun was still shining :-)
Location of Comodoro is it's biggest positive - it is literally steps from the beautiful beach in Palma Nova. We spent every day there as it was so close. We were A/I and could just step back into hotel at lunch time or if we needed drinks so didnt miss out on anything by not staying in hotel area during day. Pool area in hotel was shaded for most of the afternoon but not sure anyone really stayed at the pool all day due being virtually on the beach.
Hotel rooms were ok, clean and tidy, and view from balcony is spectacular. Food wasn't always to our liking as there was a lot of fish dishes and some choices we thought didnt really go together but always managed to find something we could have.
Service was good - we had late check out and as we had some inconvenience at start of break so that was good. Reception staff were helpful too.

Room Tip: All rooms have fab view but higher one's are not impeded by trees etc

First night we too got sent to another hotel but staff were accomodating, sorted it out immeadiatly and we are the kind of folk who see it as a bonus to be able to stay in two hotels instead of the one we booked. Hotel Comodoro's rooms were ok, clean, the food was ok, quite some choice, (If your a complete pig theres not enough!). Not really a kids hotel as there was only a pool, no kids club, not a hotel for toddlers (travelled with 4 year old). On the plus side, it's right on the beach, literally, so if you like the beach your happy. Also Magalluf is 5 mins away and we did hear quite a lot of noise at night time with passing drunks etc. I read comments about the bar man Nelson, they discourage you getting more than two drinks at a time as its a lot of all inclusive folk who just want to get hammered. I can see that greedy people would get annoyed at this policy. Hotel entertainment was dire, almost boring, I would say even a person in their 60's would only be entertained after having a few alchoholic drinks. I would stay here again for a few nights, but no more than 3-4. Good location if you want to go to Magaluf and get a reasonably clean hotel, bad if you want entertainment as all inclusive ties you into thinking you want to get you moneys worth.

Room Tip: Higher floors = less noise at night from the beach. Would stay no more than 4 nights.

We also stayed at this hotel and found it to be dirty especially in the dining room. Chairs were covered in stains and the food was very bland. Rooms are very basic and dowdy. Nothing to do in the evning at this hotel and as for it being a four star I would give it a 2 star rating as it needs a complete overhaul.

Room Tip: go to another hotel

arived at about 10pm and was pleased to find recepition was warm and welcoming, they even had a table set up for a late supper just for us ! rooms are a bit dated but who really cares? they are very clean, comfy double bed, fantastic view, free lockable safe area built into the fridge to keep passports ect, ther was a slight wiff every now and then from the drains in bathroom, staff are great and friendly, bar manager is a bit on the funny side about getting more than 1 drink at a time, the pool area is great apart from the freakin massive tree on the street that kills almost all the sun for half the day but to be fair the hotel is right on the beach i mean as in you walk out the pool door your 10 steps off the perfect sand so again who really cares ? !

Room Tip: the food is the usual all inc food and if you can try and get a table outside at sun set for a pritt...

Stayed at the Comodoro for 4 days, lads holiday, so didnt expect too much. Hotel is a little dated but clean, carpet on stairs is threadbare, food very basic, not a lot of variety[so loses a star]. reception staff very helpful but Nelson the bar manager was very difficult to deal with.[1 drink per person at night with 2 people in queue was ridiculous] Beer was Estrella so no problem there.
We went in Mid October but did not expect a residential home setting, but we still had fun in the strip whisch is only a 2 minute walk away. The best part of the hotel was the beautiful view from the balcony onto the bay.

To generalise; Ok for a short break only!!!

Room Tip: All rooms look over the bay, take the stairs lifts are very slow if they are working.

The rooms are a decent size and are sufficiently clean. The views from the balconies are surprisingly good. The hotel is well located for the beach/bars/restaurants/shops.

The furniture in the rooms is worn and dated. The bathrooms are a little dingy but generally OK. They do smell of drains at times. The double rooms have 2 single beds pushed together. The TV's are tiny and do not work in all of the rooms. The AC doesn't function but we didn't really need it.

The all inclusive drinks are not great - local spirits and overly fizzy lager which is difficult to consume. They do not serve proper cocktails. The food is relativley poor.

The staff go about their business in a reasonably efficient manner but they rarely smile. In fact, they rarely even bother to greet/acknowledge guests. The only people that would say hello were the cleaners and two of the girls who waitress during the dinner service. One of the chefs was rude to someone in our group so she made a complaint about him. We were informed that the complaint would be dealt with and we would be informed of the outcome - they never got back to us.

Maybe the staff here are tired of putting up with British guests. I don't know quite what the issue is. Either way, it did somewhat ruin the experience for us. Having said that, I get the impression that other hotels in the area will be much the same.

Room Tip: Book elsewhere!
