“Good Location but Beware of Noisy Groups!”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

When we booked we noted that it was said in the Jet2brochure as a 'Lively' hotel so expected a certain amount of noise.
However we experienced levels of noise that were unacceptable, such as:
Groups Taking over the pool at times & not respecting the other guests
Groups shouting across from their balconies at each other
People making a lot of noise when they arrive back to their rooms sometimes around 6am
Staff when taking a break, we're talking loud under our window, early in the morning(we mentioned this to reception & it did slightly improved)
Other issues for future guests consideration are:
Access to the pool area is not allowed until 9.30am(a queue formed in reception every day for those wanting an umbrella/beds)
Breakfast is the same every day, fairly basic. It finished at 10am which means everything is switched off and cleared at 10am
In all fairness, the staff do their best to manage the situation overall, but at times we thought we were in a 18-30 hotel.
On a plus, our rooms were clean and reception were kind & helpful.
Needless to say, we won't be returning!

We arrived in the don bigote on 9th of July as a party of 4, when we arrived we weren't greeted very nicely at all, we were just given the key and told to go to the room. When we arrived at the room it was for four people and by the time we had put our cases in there was no room to walk around in. The facilities around the pool were great and the pool was a good size. On the first night we had no hot water from the shower so we asked reception to look into the problem where we were greeted with negativity saying that it was working. We returned to reception a further 2 times before they decided to ring someone to sort the water. The only thing wrong with the don bigote is the staff within it, they are all very rude and have negative attitudes whenever you speak to them, they are also very unhelpful!! On the last night of our stay a friend went home early with the key so we couldn't get into the room, so we asked reception for a spare key to get into the room, the reply was no followed with an angry tone of voice. So I would say the don bigote is a good place for a holiday but the staff are a big no no!!!

Went in July with my mate for a boozy lads trip, certainly wasn't expecting The Ritz but was pleasantly surprised. Taxi straight from the airport €35, check in was a breeze, all before 11am. Had a sea view which was probably a bit quieter than the pool view. Decent balcony, beds were fine, shower powerful enough. We hired a fridge for €3.5 a day plus €20 deposit, it it took an age to get anything cool. We never heard any nighttime noise but we were getting in around 5am and crucially we were at the end of the hall way.

We always found a bed or at least a chair round the pool. The bar served a good selection but they never stopped you bringing your own drinks in.

Like others have said, there's plenty of bars near by and it's close to the beach but it is 10-15 walk to Magaluf Strip.

Would I stay there again? Probably with the lads but not with Mrs Sloppychops.

Just returned off a lads holiday for a week from the Don Bigote. No real problems with the hotel or its staff. Everyone was very helpful for if we needed anything. As we had a group of 6 the staff helped us out with rooms on the same floor and we where all next to each other. The rooms are big enough size for 2 per person with good air con. We had the pool side so we had a constant breeze which was nice. Couldn't really argue with the restaurant food was decent just a tiny bit repetitive but what do you expect fro a 2/3 star hotel. Close by too everything. Literally 3 minute walk to the beach and at least a 10 minute walk to the Magaluf strip. Bars and shops are over the road. Bars outside the hotel cheaper than the bar in the hotel (1.25 for a pint over the road). We went to the spar for our drinks for the rooms as its relatively cheaper than the other shops. The only downside to the hotel is the WiFi we paid 15 euro for a week and it didn't work and the cooler that we paid for didn't work but we weren't that bothered! Apart from that id say its a good hotel for the price. Perfect for young groups wanting to enjoy the night life.

Room Tip: Maximum 2 per room if group holiday

Have stayed here on two occassions in the past - only just now doing a review as I've recently realised how much hotels rely on these reviews.

I stayed once for a long weekend (following speaking to guests who had stayed here on a previous holiday) and again for 10 days on the half board basis.

Hotel is a nice size and staff are all friendly and helpful. Breakfast and Dinner was always nice, I alwasy found something to eat, enjoyed it and felt full. Didn't find the drinks too expensive compared to other hotels.

Rooms were standard - beds were sleepable, shower worked - did the job for something I was hardly in. Have stayed in much worse hotels in Majorca.

Pool was lovely and always got a bed by - saying that did get up for when the pool doors opened.

Location was great - close to everything in Palma Nova and close but not to close to Magalluf - I love Maga but least had the option of both hectic and non hectic.

Would stay there again.

(Note I didn't stay there in August 2013 but it wouldn't let me submit without)

Room Tip: Ask for pool view when booking

We have just returned from a weeks holiday from the Don Bigote. It was advertised as a lively hotel which we had no problem with. The food was fine a little repetitive but in all good. The room was of a good size with A/C pool view on the 4th floor. The main concern I have is a night from 2am until 7am was the noise from younger element of guests returning to the hotel worse for wear. They would be banging on the doors shouting and screaming all manner of obscenities at each other. to be fair the hotel then added more security. We rang security numerous times through the nights, they would come up and within 20 minutes it was back to the same.
I wouldn't recommend staying here if you want to recharge you batteries or have a little peace and quiet. And as far as a good nights sleep is concerned forget it as you won't get any!! notwithstanding the fact that we didn't get in until gone 1 ourselves and that we enjoy a drink or 2 every night .

Room Tip: High floor Pool side

just came back from a lads holiday .. great hotel, great pool area, friendly staff during the day.
room was decent size with air con..never eaten in the restaurant tho so i cant comment on that as we always went out for food as there's some really great steak houses n restaurants close by ..plenty to do during the day .. we had a fifa tourney in bar as there is a ps4 machine .. pool table tourneys ...and internet use for 1 euro .. close to the beach, great bars just 2min walk, n 10min walk to the magga strip. would deffo go back .

Room Tip: close your balcony doors to block out must of the noise the air con was good enough
