“Fab holiday but more of a 3 star”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

We've just returned from a weeks all inclusive at marina torrenova. The first thing I would say is ignore the bad reviews as I really don't understand where they are coming from. You get exactly what you pay for here. We paid £1600 last minute for 2 adults and 2 kids aged 7 & 4. The food was good and always a suitable variety although a week of eating various flavours of mousse for dessert did take it's toll haha! The gala nights were also Ok but had lots of seafood which I don't like but my husband loved. Hotel reception and public areas were very nice and always kept immaculate. Staff were all extremely friendly. The rooms themselves are basic but since you're only in there to wash, change and sleep in they are perfectly acceptable. Our room of 4 single beds made it very tight to move around but the addition of a fridge in each room is a great touch. The pillows are fine but pretty skinny, nothing a call to reception for some extra pillows wouldn't sort! As with the other reviews the pool situation is quite laughable. You need to be downstairs around 0800-0815 to queue up for the door to be opened at 0830 to get your towels on sun loungers. Most folks head straight for the main pool and shallow kids pool. We spent the week down at the kids splash pool which is much quieter and never had the on mass sprint for sun loungers but you do still need to get down pretty early to get a decent spot. Plenty parasols/shaded areas around both kids pools but none around the main pool. Evening entertainment was good fun for both kids and adults. Kids shows, adult music quizzes etc although we never did win at the bingo but was still good fun. The entertainment team really do a fantastic job and work tirelessly. On the AI drinks note, alcoholic drinks are served in plastic half pint glasses which works well, not tiny glasses as mentioned in other reviews. You can only get 2 drinks at once but my husband got himself two beers at the start of the evening (estrella beer and not flat in the slightest) then went back for a vodka for me. Large measures meant my one drink lasted his two beers. Large queues at the bar is normal but they move very quickly so not an issue either. The only bad points about this hotel I would raise is that the bedroom floors never seemed to be swept very well, a bit of a pain coming out of the shower each night and having to dust off your feet before putting your shoes on. Also although this is an AI hotel you still have to pay for kids snacks in the evening (crisps, lollies etc) and although the bar menu mentions ice cream is included it is not. Only basic ice lollies, you need to pay for the ice cream cones! I also agree with some other reviews that some parents did let their kids run wild whilst they took advantage of the AI drinks till midnight. Most nights we would sit on our balcony and watch the little demons push sun loungers into the pool and generally run around screaming causing havoc. This was the most off putting element of the whole holiday and is in no way a reflection of the hotel itself and was probably just our bad luck. We probably wouldn't return here but only on the basis that we generally like to do our own thing and don't like to be restricted to set eating times. This is the first time we've done AI in europe and will likely b the last. For info although the restaurant serves evening meals till 9:30 the kids station closed at 8:30 which we learnt on the first night. All in we did have a fab holiday and would recommend if you like the AI set up, it just wasn't for us.

Food was great first class and plenty of variety although lots of sunbeds you still have to get
up at crack of dawn to get the best spot as some areas are in the shade. it has a great area for

just came back from marina torrenova hotel yesterday and we have to say we were disappointed with the hotel. Reasons are. never a 4 star hotel, very dated and needs a total refurb from top to bottom, severe lack of umbrellas around pools and the local beer was flat. we paid £3000 for a weeks stay and did not get value for money. Back with a sore neck from sleeping on pillows that felt they had stones in them. Had to drink from plastic cups day and night, We spent several days at beach and a day at western water park just to get out of hotel. went out everynight and back for last hour at night. we had 2 teenage kids with us and they were bored rigid. Not a hotel for anyone with kids over 11. Paid 30 euros for wifi, that didnt really work and why wasnt it free. we popped in to a couple of 4 star hotels when we were out and about and the difference was night and day. So please do not be fooled with this hotel being classed as a 4 star it is at best a low 3 star. Gave it a 2 for its food which was nice but we will never be back at the marina torrenova

Literally returned today after a week in this hotel. We booked this after reading up on the good reviews for this hotel we were so disappointed when we got there.
The rooms are very basic and the beds have not been replaced since the 1970s! Very uncomfortable beds and scratchy horrible sheets. Noisey and inconsiderate children and parents screaming and running in the corridors at 12.30am obviously getting their money's worth of the all inclusive drinks - not good when you have a young child.
The evening meals in the hotel are very repetitive, salty and boring. The only night we had a good meal was when they put on a curry. The breakfasts on the other hand are very good. Be aware that you are not permitted to remove any food from the restaurant so if you wanted to leave the hotel for a day on the beach you have to purchase snacks outside of the hotel adding to the overall cost of the holiday.
We tried to book a night I the Al a Carte restaurant but were told it was fully booked every time we tried so we eventually gave up.
The pool areas were constantly 'hogged' by Brits putting towels down and then not returning all day.
The children's area and the entertainment for children was very good (as long as you could get a seat outside to watch it, again these were constantly 'hogged'). Our child is too small to leave in the clubs but enjoyed the parrot show and snake show.
On the whole the hotel would have been a good stay if we had paid half the price we had done - we do not feel that the money we paid for 4 star, all inclusive accommodation was justified - we would rate this hotel a low 3 star so please be aware when booking up and paying full price for this hotel.
We actually spent more time outside of this hotel and found a lovely BBQ restaurant which we highly recommend F&C BBQ and a smashing sandwich/Panini/wrap take away shop called Black Rock on Calvia beach.

Dear Lovetraveler;
We regret the hotel does not meet your expectations.
Please be informed that it is not permitted to remove any food of the hotel because of the high temperatures in summer.
To provide a fairer use, we have taken the decission that we do not keep sun beds if ther are not being used within one hour.

This is the second time I have been here. I liked it the first time and loved it the second time. It is suitable for children and adults. The only fault was the food selection as there was no variety. But the breakfast was always full English ( But no black pudding ). There was only a 5-10 minute walk from Palma nova beach which we visited nearly everyday and visited western park once, but it was far too expensive. The main pool was big and clean so we had no pool related problems. The bar drinks were great and the bar tenders were so kind and polite. Overall it was a very nice hotel and I definitely would return for a third time.

Room Tip: Ask for a certain view because we did and got probably the hotels best view.

Just got back from a week at this hotel and I must say I was really impressed. Food was varied and in plentiful supply. Children had their own dedicated serving area. We went all inclusive and tick all the boxes, local beer and wine and all soft drinks included, premium drinks a small charge. The pools were great especially the middle one which is great for little ones.
Apparently we British have learnt from the Germans, So I'd advise during busy periods que up with towels at the ready as door's are opened at 08.30 sharp for the charge of the light brigade for the sun lounger's.The pool staff seemed to enjoy themselves anyway. Palma nova beach is a short walk away and is a lovely with loads of restaurant's around. If you get time I can't recommend enough go to The Pirate's Adventure Show absolutely fantastic. We had a great family holiday and would come back again to this hotel.

Dear Leeeeeeee;
We regret the hotel does not meet your expectations.
We have not received any more complaints about ants in rooms , It is an unusual issue
Mould sometimes shows up around the air con. that is removed and cleaned up as soon as chambermaids see it.
Any time you are not happy with your room ask the reception to change it. They will do inmediately if there is availability.
We take into account your comments about food.

We hope that these brief clarifications may suit you.
Thanks for your comments and kind regards
