Just back from 14nts at this hotel and all I can say is excellent, excellent excellent!!! But keep this to yourselves as this is a popular hotel and it will be hard to get a booking as they have many repeat guests, we met some who have been coming for the past 20 years!!!
The only downside we found was the noisey youths coming home from the clubs, but this is not the hotels fault.
Food, What can I say, just like being at home.
Nicely decorated rooms, with Flat Screen TV and all english channels. + Sky Sports 1. Great views, ask for high floor though.
Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: All rooms over look the sea, but ask for a high floor, even better view.

just returned from an enjoyable week at the Son Matias Beach Hotel. Lovely sea view, very clean rooms and good entertainment every night. Husband very happy to find out that the TV had Sky Sports 1 as he enjoyed watching the cricket whilst getting ready for dinner. Agree with other reviews regarding food. There could be more choice especially on the vegetable front!!!! On the whole the hotel was very good and the staff friendly and courteous. Location on the beach front with plenty of bars and restaurants close by. No trouble getting a sunbed on the beach although the sunbeds by the pool were taken very quickly in the morning, but we always found one easily enough later in the afternoon after spending day on beach. All in all it was a good weeks holiday and we would definitely return again.

We have just returned from a 11 day holiday at the Son Matias Beach Hotel. This was our second visit and maybe our last.
I still regard this a very pleasant Hotel , patronised by the older English tourists. The food is reasonable, the Hotel is clean and the staff friendly and hospitable, however what should be its biggest attraction , the beach front location , turned out this time to be its nemesis.
We stayed 11 days and never got one nights sleep !!
The HORRENDOUS noise made by drunken youths frolicing on the beach all through the night every night , and the constant shouting and screaming of foul mouthed teenagers walking along the promenade between Palma Nova and Magaluf every night from dusk till dawn, we even witnessed young men urinating up the trees in front of our balcony. All this ruined what should have been a pleasant relaxing vacation.
Many other guests we spoke to were also experiencing this same problem and we were givien two excuses by local businessmen . One was the end of term for Engish students and the other was that Hotels who previously turned away parties of single sex bookings were now excepting them due to the present economical climate.
The Hotel is very nice but anyone thinking of going should definitely avoid July.

Room Tip: All rooms are the same facing the beach and very noisy from dusk till dawn.

Just returned from a weeks holiday in this hotel. 13th July 2012. This is the first time I have felt that I needed to write a review on the many four and five star hotels I have stayed at in the past as most hotels met my expectations or exceeded it. This hotel is not a four star hotel more like two plus. On arriving the reception area must be the smallest that any hotel has. The reception area is what you would expect to find in a two star apartment block where you would be renting an apartment. The rooms are clean but small but views. are great. The view is the ONLY thing that is good at this hotel , The dining room is small and not capable of accommodating the amount of people staying at the hotel. Most nights there were queues for tables with many people waiting around 15 minutes to be seated,As for the food what a dissapointment. Each night you had a selection of four main dishes which consisted of something like Cottage Pie/ Roast Beef/ Roast Lamb/ Steak & Kidney Pie/Chips. One choice of soup is available each night. One night they had mashed potatoes on the menu that turned out to be INSTANT MASH The desserts are a selection of something like Bread & Butter pudding/ Apple Crumble/ Rice Pudding/ a selection of cakes that all taste the same and are not home baked but bought in .The so called cheese board consists of four different Packet Cheese the like you would give to kids in their sandwichs The food is catered for the Brits that can't enjoy any other type of food other than what you would get in your local British pub.
The pool is the size of a postage stamp with again not enough beds to cater for the amount of people . If you are sad enough to sit for half an hour each morning before they open the gate to allow those sad people to rush to grab their sun beds then this hotel is for you. The bar and entertainment room is again too small for the hotel .( the smallest I have ever seen)
Thompson Travel have the monopoly on this hotel and cater only for the British and those that are in the age group of 70+. The staff are very polite and some are English again confirming that this hotel is geared for Brits ONLY.
I have readed many of the other reviews and all I can say is that those people that return time after time to this hotel must have never enjoyed the pleasure of a proper FOUR STAR HOTEL THAT HAS ALL THE QUALITIES EXPECTED OF ITS RATING. not something that you could expect from a TWO STAR Hotel. The reasons this hotel attracts so many people is the views from the bedroom which I have to agree are great. Other than that I would give this hotel a miss unless you enjoy british pub food each evening. As one reviewer stated certain clientel at this hotel becuase of the fuss the hotel make of them they think that they are royalty and can't see that they are being ripped off . They are charged FOUR STAR prices for TWO STAR FACILITIES> WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT
